Some areas do require you to do a bit of leaping around but not really a whole lot.

Nope. I completely stripped the corpse and the waypoint and objective didn't change.

So, going off what Captain Capsase said about the Minutemen not being defined: I agree. Its a pity, too, because they would have been the best faction to define what the people of the Commonwealth feel (paranoid hatred of Synths, viewing the Brotherhood as foreign invaders, ect.). Sort of like an antithesis to the somewhat single-minded Railroad. Right now they just seem a bit... disconnected.

I still haven't found any evidence that I can ally them with the Railroad, like the Fallout pages suggest. Desdemona even gave me a bit of an ultimatum: either the Minutemen or the Railroad.

The minutmen are the wildcard option, something I feel is always needed.

If they did what you sugest, how else could that have been done?

[up][up] I didn't get that from Des. And, while it wasn't really an "alliance," Preston seemed to greatly approve of helping the Railroad out and the two groups never really conflicted for me. It seemed like the Railroad was helping out the Synths while the Minutemen did the rest.

Desdemona holds a degree of contempt for the people of the Commonwealth on account of their paranoia and prejudice towards Synths.

Because they don't come with any flaws. The Wild Card ending comes with issues like Freeside getting worse (to the point where the Followers leave), or requiring the Brotherhood to either be destroyed or allowing them to raid the Mojave.

[up]Arguably, thats because your minutemen (the Minutemen 2.0) are so damn new they're just busy getting set up. Its like Shady Sands in Fallout 1. Aradesh, Seth, and Tandi are seen as nothing but good meaning people and the NCR that is sprung from them in the ending is described as a good thing. Its not until Fallout 2 the dark side of the NCR comes to light.

Now the ORIGINAL minutemen, if you go to Quincy (where Preston's group fled from) you learn exactly WHAT happened to original group. Namely, one of their top L Ts thought they were getting soft and sold them out to the gunners, who he hoped to make into what you're making the minutemen. Preston and the Quartermaster lady were the only ones who actually believed in the Minutemen's ideal, and even Preston will admit he's more than a little naive in that regard. Really, the Minutemen's flaw is the fact that its very easy to undo them which Synth infiltrators prove pretty damn well.

The Wild Card ending comes with issues like...requiring the Brotherhood to either be destroyed

Wuh? That's a bad thing? I think that's a plus...I say blow all those motherfuckers to kingdom come.

There are non-combatants there.

[up]There are non-coms in the Institute and Railroad too. But to be fair, you can't even call the BOS Non-Coms such. One of your quests with them involves taking some of the kids out for field training where they do engage in combat with Ghouls/Synths/Raiders/Muties. The BOS force is 100% military. Any true non-coms were left at the Citadel, not on the Prydwen.

[up] No, all the Squire does is watch you do the killing and learn from it. They're not even armed- I ought to know, seeing as on my first training assignment we got ambushed and I had to save my Squire from a squad of synths.

You can argue that destroying the Brotherhood forces entirely is necessary, which is different from saying blowing them up is a good thing. In the case of the Mojave chapter, the NCR ending can have them make peace. If you want peace in the Wild Card ending, they must be destroyed, and House and Caesar do not give you an out. I destroy it when I play Wild Card, but that doesn't mean I feel good about it.

And aye, bringing those children there is even more reason to loathe Maxson and his ilk.

[up]Definitely necessary for the Greater Good, but a Necessary Evil. Personally, I would kill to have the BOS Air Force on my side, but alas, I believe in the freedom of people.

Additionally, it was a necessary evil for me since their goddamn Vertis kept crashing my game! That's right, the pilots are so drunk, they're crashing the game.

Also, Inon Zur killed with the remixes of the main theme, like this battle version "Dominant Species."

I do love how they went right back to being traditionalist assholes, though. Veronica makes comments about the East Coast chapter (so they are in some level of communication), so if and when she hears about it, it'll probably hurt that even these guys are being jerks.

Though unlike the other chapters (IIRC the Midwestern chapter isn't large or powerful in-canon), they're thriving, and are more open to outsiders (though they still look down on 'em). Which isn't good for non-Brotherhood.

Just as an aside, I'm seeing all the references to the NCR in the game and I can't help but wonder if the CoAS (Commonwealth of Allied Settlements) was Boston's attempt to emulate them, only for the Institute to say "fuck no" and destablize the region. And Shaun claims these people are doomed. Well no fuckin' shit! YOU doomed them!

I'm fairly certain in the wildcard ending if you get the BOS to ally with the NCR it mentions them helping with the evacuation efforts. Granted they're nicking laser pistols while they do so but they seem far less dickish then if you just leave them be. I'm wondering what their ending card would have been in the cut house alliance ending. Maybe they could have been talked down or put in charge of maintaining the robit army in exchange for access to his other tech?

Well I'm still on my pokemon hunt. Got Danse and Deacon's perks recently and now I'm working on preston because when aren't we outnumbered? After him I've got all the perks I want and I guess it's time to move the plot forward. I'm going railroad since they seem to be the only faction that actually cares about synths. Considering my character used to be a JAG lawyer she is very concerned about synth rights and those dirty commie fascist brotherhood members trying to take over.

We still might have a BOS Civil War. If Maxon and the Prydwen are destroyed the Capital Wasteland is gonna get thrown into Chaos, since much of the BOS upper echelon came on this mission. At best, we've got Scribe Rothchild in charge, who would gladly go back to Lyon's viewpoints (with the added implied threat of "wastelanders blew up our two most advanced technologies" to keep the Outcasts in line). Not to mention earning the ire of the Western Elders (I'm still not convinced that's not BOS Propaganda what with the worship of Maxon).

Oh, not to mention getting the West Coast elders furious that the Maxon line has been terminated... by wastelanders.

Actually... now that I think about... the next Obsidian game should be the NCR purging the BOS back home. Final Battle is a choice - NCR destroys the West Coast Chapters ending with a raid on Lost Hills, or the BOS breaks the NCR and CA devolves into chaos.

I'd be interested in a game set fully in NCR territory. I mean we've done post-apoc, post-post-apoc and frontier-apoc stories so at this point a real after the end story would be interesting. Maybe the president was assassinated and it's your job to uncover THE TRUTH! or just fuck around in the boneyard.

Close the story.... with a SUPER SLEDGE. Amirite?

Ok that didn't even scan - ANYWAY I'm going to try for the Silver Shroud mission tonight - any advice as I hear you can get Kent killed. And I like him. He's nice. And from before the war, LIKE ME! And the Vault Tec guy.

Still not go Cait's trait - how long until she asks you to help her?! And ah still so many companions to find.

Tempted to find them all first THEN do the quests. Also, need to cut down on the number of guns I'm hauling around - they really eat into your carry weight. As does all your armour.

Anyone done crazy builds with settlements? Looking at what some people have made at the Drive in or in Sanctuary makes me feel inferior. Though I do feel it's a little much as you can't assign people houses, or make proper "barracks" per se. But the look of it is nice.

Mostly it's because I've built stuff in Sanctuary and I want to start from scratch to lay it out better.... but cannot be arsed to redesign it. Also, STILL no idea how to rig traps properly or get the terminals to work in setting them up. No where near a Minecraft red switch ninja...
