What name?
Dijkstra.
Isn't it pronounced Deek-Stra?
Apparently. Up until now I've called him "D-something or other. That spy guy."
Poor werewolf hunter fellow. Though not that much sympathy as he clearly was cogent enough to talk...
I do like the little moral choices here and there - nothing massive and world shifting like Mass Effect, but personal, immediate.
I need better armour. Level 7 and still need to find some decent cat school stuff - only have two of the maps. Not sure whether to explore all the map points, or to go to Oxenfurt or Novigrad... or at least make my way there.
Choices choices!
Novigrad. The rest of the cat stuff is there.

I haven't figured out why the Witcher specific gear is supposed to be so awesome. Stat-wise, it isn't anything to write home about.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Geralt tries to speak Troll, becomes an accidental rapper.◊
Also...
When you are given a mission to follow an NPC, THEY ACTUALLY GO THE SAME PACE AS YOU. "You want to walk? Sure, I'll walk with you." "Feel like running? Sure me too!" I cannot stress how many times I've played The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and had an NPC walk 5 m/s slower than me, so I couldn't follow them without stopping every 2nd step.

So I looked up how to get the endings last night...this is really complicated XD
Yeah the way the endings work is very reminiscent of classic RPGs like Baldur's Gate.
Hell, I heard the endings have a Playable Epilogue before the narration slides.

It's the little things, isn't it!
Yeah just need the maps for the cat school stuff. So. Many. Things. To. Find.
And I got another rare sword. trying to work out if damage is better than having all those perk bonuses that some give you.
I haven't even met the crones yet, I feel I'm mega lagging in the story. just don't want to cut off any of the side quests! Does Iorveth turn up at all?
It seems a shame that the Pontar and Saskia et al is kind of off to one side now as well.

How to avoid fall damage 101:
- Press Jump button twice right before touching the ground.
- You will roll and avoid taking the damage.
Cool.
Also I'm now using the Feline gear, until I get to 15 and can use the Enhanced Griffin gear.
I know I spared Letho, but I didn't really consider him a friend, which is why I consider Geralt's interactions with him weird.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. Also, to the guy that was raging over the fistfights, I have no idea what you were talking about. I got to level 14 with them and pretty much all of them were easy. Though apparently you weren't able to block or dodge for some reason.
Do crossbow bolts recharge? Or do you have to constantly make more in batches of 20? Coz that's kind of BS
You always have infinite "basic" bolts, but the special ones you have to craft repeatedly - so the exploding bolts, or split head ones.
And I dunno, I rather liked Letho... but yeah, the interaction with him at the end of Witcher 2 implies grudging respect, not friendship.
Interesting to see others reporting similar to the (Gaffer! Gaffer!) situation I ran into yesterday, I'm really curious to know if it's intentional or a bug either way it's hilarious when it does happen (loaded up a previous save and repeated the confrontation a few times and it's not consistent)

I found a level 20 earth elemental guarding a treasure. I figured I'd charge in and see how it went; I'm level 14 but I ought to be able to kill it if I can dodge its attacks. A ton of food and about five minutes later, I stand victorious and go to claim my prize. A treasure worthy of such a high level opponent must be awesome, right? I eagerly open the treasure chest and pull out... a level 10 sword.
I walk away grumbling to myself about the developers trolling players. Either there is something terribly broken about the random loot distribution system, or some encounter designer deliberately placed it there. I am hard pressed to say which is worse. At least the sword vendored for a decent amount.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Level 14's are kicking my arse. I quite like how, in theory, you COULD beat them. But the level difference means they hit like a truck and your attacks do bugger all.
I still hate Nightwraiths.
Hopefully will smash out a few more points of interest and get some more Witcher Contracts done. I'd like to get most of the Velen wilderness done before moving on to Novigrad.
Has anyone encountered the points that side quests get locked off? It's the one thing that often makes me play in a rather stilted fashion as I don't want to miss anything if I can avoid it.
I haven't seen any locking off of side quests, at least not in Velen. I share your concerns about that, which is why I always try to do them first. In some cases, side quests don't unlock until you complete parts of the main quest, so you stand to miss out if you ignore it entirely.
In my experience it's fairly obvious when a main quest is going to make a fundamental change to the world that locks out content; this is why you save before each part.
Nightwraiths are stupidly hard even when you do them at an appropriate level. Ugh.
Incidentally, the Crones of Crookback Bog are one of those parts of the game where you're given a choice with two bad outcomes. I hate that sort of thing. I was hoping I'd get the opportunity to kill them, but alas, no.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, I don't know which choice does what, been avoiding the spoilers where I can. I know you can end up buggering things up for one area or another.
Also, I'm rather liking the Nilfgaardians; admittedly they cross the line at times, but they're no Henselt or Radovid. If Foltest was still about, then I'd be all for the North, but Emhyr seems to know what he's doing and has out gamed most of his opponents.
Another difficult choice is... Triss or Yen? I like Triss as I've had two games worth of her (And Shani... who disappears mysteriously!)
But Yen obviously has more weight in Canon terms. And is rather entertaining too.
What builds are people generally going with? More Red combat, or Green potion builds? More of the sign strengthening? I'm not 100% sold on only having the skills in the grid being the "active" ones. It turns Geralt into a form of Pokemon:
"Geralt has learned "FLURRY"", but Geralt had to forget "Advanced potion brewing""
Now I can see where everyone's love of Gwent comes from. It's quite addicting.
I have put points in some of the big neutral passives, but mostly I'm emphasizing red and light armor. Makes Witcher gear somewhat weak as that's medium, but statwise I don't see why it's supposed to be so much better than everything else.
Are there any mods that let you hotkey gear and perk sets? Because that's really what I need: a monster fighting kit and a people-fighting kit.
Major spoiler: Apparently, if you choose to "free" the children from the Crones, they kill Anna, which drives the Baron to suicide.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
Just found the schematics for the base level Cat school gear, and holy fuck it looks awesome.
On another note... now I know how to pronounce that name. That bugged me endlessly when reading the novels.
