I dunno if this is new reboot stuff or a followup of old canon stuff, but if it's from the old canon stuff, then she may be one of the Lombax's from way back when who went to another dimension with Tachyon's forces, who has managed to show up since the dimensions are now all torn apart.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia!I am so incredibly happy right now. This is definitely going to be one of the reasons I pick up a PS5.
Finally following up on the plot line of the lombaxes banished to another dimension then?
@The Airman: IIRC, Mike Stout said somewhere in his "Useless Podcast" Youtube channel that Insomniac isn't particularly fond of Angela. She was a super-hard character for them to write for some reason, and they weren't happy with how she turned out, hence why he was dumped from the sequels. So I'm not surprised if they decided to just make a new character.
I have to be honest, I'm impressed by all the graphical prowess of the PS 5, but at the same time I'm really underwhelmed by what they're doing with the newer R&C games. I can tell they're really trying to stick with the new Lighter and Softer direction the PS 3 games and the 2016 reboot started. I really miss when the series was smart and witty anti-capitalist satire and farce, not pretentious faux-Pixar mush.

I thought the Future trilogy managed a good balance between taking the material seriously while still working in the jokes, but the remake was just a schmaltzy, toothless nightmare.
So at the least going back to the original continuity is promising.
Is this going back to the original continuity?
Ah, was unaware

Same. Hell even if it is original I’ll wait until reviews are out, I personally didn’t care for the PS 3 trilogy that much
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI don't think it's the reboot continuity. The whole plot point with dimension-hopping was alluded to in Into the Nexus, the last game of the previous continuity. Plus, it's pulling way too many callbacks (and some convenient reused assets) from the previous games to be part of a new continuity.
Again, they may reuse stuff from the reboot game, but it seems like a follow-up to the first continuity.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Pus the title sounds like the kind of Getting Crap Past the Radar the old continuity was fond of. Or maybe I'm just seeing bad puns everywhere.
But yeah, from the little I've played of the remake, it seemed like they had improved the gameplay but that the writing had gone down the drain. Just comparing the Skid McMarks meetings in the original and the remake hurts me.
Firstly, HOLY TOLEDO WE'RE GETTING A NEW RATCHET & CLANK GAME AHEVDUWNDURBEUFWSH!!!!
Secondly, Erm. I remember all (or most of) the subtitles in the Ratchet & Clank games were references to something sexual.
Is there something sexual in "Rift Apart"? Because I was thinking it was alluding to the dimensional rifts and also a pun to the phrase "drift apart", which could mean they end up drifting apart in that "Breaking the Fellowship" way. (God forbid.)
Also, holy cow, there is another...lombax! And it's a girl!
Does she have a tail?
I doubt it will be about them drifting apart. I mean they've already done that whole thing through out the future trillogy. I wonder do you think it is important that the trailer seems to be starting in media rys?
'Ripped Apart' could be taken to mean something sexual, or something... gorier.

"It's just like... a series of overlapping curses..." - Flower Knight DakiniWelp, guess I should get to playing the Future games already.
I will be very happy indeed if they're returning to the original continuity, since, like a few others have expressed, I wasn't particularly happy with the direction they took with the story in the 2016 re-imagining. ...In fact, I almost want to think that they purposely made it a subjective re-imagining told by Qwark just in case it didn't go over well, so it could be easily swept under the rug if needed. Very smart of Insomniac if that was the case. :V ...Anyway, looks pretty interesting. I'm probably going to hold out for some more information - both gameplay videos and story details - before I consider shelling out for a PS5 just to play it (as I doubt they're going to pony up any other games I'd really really really want to play right away, except maybe Street Fighter VI.)
Also, speaking of Insomniac, I see they're still sticking with the 'introduce a new female character every game' tradition that's been going strong ever since Spyro 2 (though they did keep Talwyn around for longer than usual). Maybe this time she'll get to be just as goofy and offbeat as Ratchet can be, since every other female companion he's had has acted as his no-nonsense foil. :V

"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."I like Talwyn a lot so I'm kinda dreading the new Lombax character being the no-nonsense love interest type of character.
We're finally getting a glimpse of the Lombaxes, it should be something special.
Actually, I've heard a theory that she's a version of Ratchet from an alternate dimension, given the game's focus on dimensional travel. Which I kinda hope is true now because it'd be a pretty neat spin, even if it's not particularly original, and would hopefully set her apart from previous female companion characters. Hell, I'd even accept her turning out to be Ratchet's long-lost sister if it set her apart a little. Maybe if we're really lucky, we'd get to play as her. I've seen some art of her holding a big gravity hammer-looking thing, which would probably be fun if she turned out to be a more melee-focused version of Ratchet. :V
"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."Wait is it true that all the female companions are the same exact no-nonsense serious types?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I think that might be true that she from an alternate dimension because you can see a holographic statue of Dr. Nefarious in the world were Clank lands.
7xShe has a fox tail
Nefarious got name dropped, so its confirmed to be the original continuity.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Well, to say they're all super-serious is a bit of an exaggeration; Angela Cross probably played it the straightest, but even she was sometimes portrayed as The Klutz (she kinda struck me as an Expy of Bianca from Spyro: Year of the Dragon, actually), and Captain Sasha was considerably more easygoing; I dunno about Talwyn because I haven't played the Future games, but I can assume she got the most development since she stuck around for more than one game. :V The general gist is that they're more serious and more 'focused' than Ratchet is.

"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."Kind of? Angela, Sasha and Talwyn all fit that basic description to varying degrees.
I wonder if Dr. Nefarious is going to be in this game. He's still at large in both the old and new continuity, so that's a possibility either way.
I also hope he isn't in the game, though. I used to love the character, but his overuse has caused me to see him as emblematic of the series being dumbed down and stripped of its edge and wit. We haven't had a full-length Ratchet and Clank game that didn't involve Nefarious since... I think Tools of Destruction, 13 years ago.
I always thought a neat twist for Nefarious would be if he quit supervillaining and 'went legit', turning into a Corrupt Corporate Executive - best of both worlds. It's practically legal supervillaining anyway. :V
"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."I watched the full trailer, and saw the hologram of Nefarious in the big city where Clank meets the girl lombax. So I kind of take it that there's going to be a Bad Future or alternate dimension where Nefarious has conquered the galaxy. Which, honestly, sounds kind of trite. I hope that isn't the main plot of the game.
I was wondering if they were going to stay consistent with the notion from A Crack in Time that female Lombaxes don't have tails, but I guess not. Maybe that indicates that this is the reboot continuity.
... Would it have killed them to use Angela? Not digging the design of this girl.
