It's not terrible, but it could stand to look more like a series of actual match-ups.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's bad, but I dunno how we could replace it.
I kinda like it, personally. Could use a good caption, like "Hrmm, wonder who the most popular character is?" or something, to help sell the point.
Moon◊I think it's illustrating the trope. Not completely, but decently well considering how hard it is to illustrate in the first place. Well, unless someone has a brilliant idea* .
A good caption will help. Something that would describe the idea of "a roster based on frequently chosen characters," since that's what it is.
That's an okay caption. Better than nothing.

Check out my fanfiction!Do any popular games with this syndrome have high score screens (or what have you) that show fighters/teams used? That might be something.
That's at least a good idea. A high score table shows what people use more often. It does have the drawback of showing the strongest character, which often is what leads to the trope, but not the trope itself.

People who aren't Street Fighter or fighting game fans probably won't be able to deduce that Ken is such a common character choice in that game.
