Zero: Oh, right, that's fine, but 'Magma splinter group' would be a better way to phrase it unless a more specific name is come up with since I don't think he'd have a problem with the methods of the splinter called Neo Magma.

Oh and remind me, which timeframe was this new group supposed to have recruited him in? Sometime around the Hoenn 2011 arc in late 2011 to early 2012 where the main known one was the more reasonable sometime around the current Hoenn arc at the end of last year to this current year where there are or something else?

i believe it was supposed to be about a year before the current arc is when he split off, so hes been in hiding for around about that much time

Era: ...How'd this many Voltorb get up this high? Stairs are usually... not their strong suit. Aw, heck. Kolaghan, come on out!

(out comes Kolaghan)

Kolaghan: <What did you get into this time?>

Era: Use Dragonbreath! Keep your distance, they're liable to blow!

Kolaghan: <On it!>

Kolaghan takes a deep breath and shoots some purple-y fire breath at the Voltorb.

How do I colored text to keep characters easily distinct?

With [[color:text]]. Works for green, pink, gray, purple, blue, teal, gold, cinnamon, forestgreen, white, red, and evil. Though I suspect you wouldn't be using white and probably not evil.

Era's Test

-One of the Voltorb is struck by the Dragonbreath and takes a decent amount of damage-

Voltorb 1: <Attacked!>

Voltorb A: <Must retaliate!>

Kolaghan rushes toward the nearest Voltorb, batting it away with her tail (and maybe doing a billiards-type deal by knocking it into the others?).

-The Voltorb begins to glow and expand slowly, before releasing a large amount of energy in explosive form-

Era: (sees Voltorb start expanding and glowing) It's gonna blow! Kolaghan, hurry! Endure! (crosses fingers that he's quick enough)

Kolaghan: <Hope this works!> (starts glowing, but a much softer glow than the Voltorb)

-Kaboom!-

-Dust settles-

Era: Kolaghan! Are you alright?

Kolaghan: (Breathing heavy, and super ragged) <That better... be the... last... of them...>

Era: (sigh of relief)

Sorry for the doublepost, but some things got brought up in regards to the Magma confusion.

Zero: How long was Max in Magma for before he quit? And how competent is he supposed to be at the stuff he did? And around what age were you expecting him to be when he joined?

Oh, and for the splinter thing we talked about, something got brought up to me about that.

Since splinter groups would be smaller compared to Original!Magma or Neo-Magma, it'd be a bit difficult to keep a low profile in them if they became big-name ones.

To that end, would you be fine with Max having been part of a Magma offshoot that never really made a name for itself and ended up presumably going defunct before the present day? If not, maybe aging Max and his team up so he could've been in the Magma that followed Emerald's story back in 2004 at the original release time would be better?

I am absolutely fine with the group he was a part of not lasting very long, maybe about a few years since i pictured him joining up at around age 18, and leaving around 21. As for the competency thing, I would imagine he wasn't exactly doing Solid Snake level stuff but he was mostly infiltration and gathering, so spywork kind of stuff. Stealing files, listening in on important conversations stuff like that, and he was pretty okay at it mostly because he was good at making himself seem like someone who wasn't worth remembering.

So basic Reconnaissance work? I'm fine with that.

Cool! So, anything else needing covered?

Well, the guy who wanted those brought up takes a bit to look over things and he'll probably give those thoughts tonight.

And that timespan seems mostly fine to me, if that time never really gave it time to appear in the public eye while he was a part of it. Though I will say one of my characters could find yours potentially interesting with this.
