You could lose the first panel without much consequence, although I'm still kinda wary about using that much of the work.

I think we could get away with the second and fourth panels...that should be enough context.

I think 2nd and 3rd together are better; 4th doesn't make it clear how he got hurt.

I love TV Tropes! I regularly check their article on BitF, as well as their boards discussing the comic, and it's always a treat to see a BitF comic used for a page image (like Waluigi in the Hostile Takeover one). Using a portion of the Meta Knight comic sounds good to me, although I'd prefer if the full strip was linked to somewhere on the page (just because there's not exactly a punchline in the excerpt).

Sounds like we can safely assume that we have standing permission to use Brawl In The Family, similar to XKCD.
