Well crafted, but very similar to God of War.
this place needs me hereI dont see nothing of God Of War in this
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/The core gameplay is very similar.
this place needs me hereReally? I always thought that pretty much every plataformer game use the same gameplay, God Of War always reminded me of Devil May Cry,
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/Does Devil May Cry use chain based weaponry focusing on distinctly vertical and horizontal oriented attacks as well as various trinkets/magical items to aid in battle and mounting enemies for additional advantages? (Honest question. I've never played a DMC game.)
That said, I haven't played God of War in ages, and I've never played the third, so I don't quite know how much of that actually applies, and I may be forgetting some things, but there's no doubt that they are especially similar.
And I wouldn't call them platformers. The old (Pre Lo S) 2D Castlevania games were combat-focused action adventure platformers, with the Metroidvania titles having added RPG elements and an emphasis on exploration. Lords of Shadow and God of War are action adventure hack-n-slashes.

this place needs me hereDevil May Cry uses a giant sword instead of a chain blade as the main weapon, but they work on the exact same family of mechanics. In fact, the first DMC is pretty much the Trope Codifier for all 3D hack and slashes in the past 10 years.
Lords of Shadow is a perfectly good Hack and Slash with an actually fun, sensible twist at the end. I personally find Gabriel and Dracula more enjoyable to play as from a story perspective than say Kratos, as Kratos' motivations were always sadly kinda muddy.

The people saying it's GOW are just frogs echoing out of a well. It's Prince Of Persia, in that combat is focused on your skill to survive
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...Well, they probably invited Go W comparisons when they decided to make Gabe's whip/cross/stake thingy a stereotypical slashing weapon instead of a whip like in the 2D games. That and the execution prompts.
EDIT: I realized something else. Both Gabe and Kratos tend to slash at long range due to their weapons' reach as opposed to dashing at enemies and latching on for a combo like (old) Dante tends to.

Though Air Jousting with Satan was pretty cool to look at.
Watch SymphogearWell, is a whip, of course is slash
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/All of that sounds very delicious. A part of me remains skeptical, since those sound too good to be true unless all the time was spent on gameplay than graphics. I don't mind graphics so I hope the gameplay is better than the first game.
Same as usual.... Wing it.DMC isn't much like God of War when you get down to it. I never played more than the demo of the original, but I quite liked it. Will keep an eye on this.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.This new trailer is... very interesting.
I think I may very well get this game.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987This sequel has me interested. I liked the first Lords of Shadow, though looking back I can understand why it's not well accepted among Castlevania fans, especially after Dm C. I was never more than a casual Castlevania fan, but I liked Lo S because I liked the combat.
Anyway, judging just from the notes on the gameplay, I think this game will be an improvement on the first, but I need to watch the trailer so I'll get back to you on that.
Got a link?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.They're just the ones already posted. And the trailer doesn't tell me that much other than there will be multiple weapons.
I liked Lords of Shadow for the story. I feel like every Castlevania game has the exact same story, slightly modified with the names changed a little bit. It felt like Lords of Shadow was actually trying to do something different.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.^To be fair, Castlevania was mostly gameplay heavy series
Yeah, but all the games have exactly the same gameplay too. It's a very samey series. Each new game feels more like a Levels Pack than an actual new game. The story doesn't change. The game doesn't change. It's just a new version of the castle to explore.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.For most of us who love the gameplay that much more, that's not a bad thing.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Really looking forward to this. If the main CV thread here is any indication, I seem to be one of the few people on TV Tropes who thinks that the LOS sub-series is just as good and just as Castlevania as the main series, though let's please not let that argument spill over into this thread...
Anyway, it looks like Drac's Void and Chaos Blood Magic abilities are similar to the Light and Dark magic of the first game, except with actual different move sets instead of just adding a little "something extra" on to your regular attacks, which should be nice.
Somehow you know that the time is right.Same here. I'm a fan of LOS story, gameplay and art appeal. Here's hoping that the new blood splattering and blood-sucking combat is fun to play with as well
Same as usual.... Wing it.
Realized we didn't have a thread about this yet.
Been meaning to check out the first game for a while now. I understand that its very different from the other Castlevania games but how does it hold up on its own.
