I'm not entirely convinced the Aaahh!!! Real Monsters example is supposed to be frightening, given that the purple demon thing is one of the stars of the show and, presumably, has been humanized to a great extent.

But then I don't know the context for the other one in the green at all, so.

Since I don't really understand the criteria, I think I will just go with whatever is creepy.

So yeah, I personally find the Nightmare Face girl much, much, creepier than the Closeted Monster (hehe), so that's what I am going with.
