Bad, bad pic...definitely needs replacing.
What about the classic? It's not like there aren't a few variations besides the one on this page to choose from...
Or is it on another page?
Check out my fanfiction!I could live with that provided it's not used somewhere else.
Star Trek Voyager◊ was often using that during the magic meeting room scenes.
EDIT: Oh I really like this TOS image◊

That Trek TOS one is good. Particularly with the two game boards on the table, placed so that the two players for each one can't really face each other across them. If you've ever played chess when you're looking at the board from a corner instead of from behind your pieces, you know how maddening it is.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Could be captioned with "For extra fun: Try to figure out who is playing against who?"
I like both TOS picture and caption.
The TOS image looks good.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Aren't they actually sitting on all four "corners" of that table in the TOS suggestion? It's really more of a three-quarter circle... Also, my first thought were that they were sitting at a café where the waitress can still access the table, before I looked at the picture and saw what it actually was.
The Voyager one doesn't strike me as very good either, since it seems like there's a screen towards the camera, in the usual sofa-in-front-of-TV version. An example, sure, but a less obvious one.

Check out my fanfiction! It's an oval table, yes, but they're sitting with three clustered toward one end and the fourth at the other end. Most groups of four sitting at a table like that normally would be more evenly spaced around it, and the guy standing on the right, who appears to be trying to interact with the woman in blue, is standing behind her.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.+1 for the TOS image. Another vote or two and we can run with it.

The point isn't the precise semi-circle, but rather that there's a slightly awkward configuration so that no one has their back to the camera. The TOS image does a fairly good job illustrating that. If someone can suggest something better, then, by all means, we should use that, but, for now, it's better than no image, it's better than any of the other suggestions, and it's certainly better than the current page image.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. It was supposed to look awkward?
Check out my fanfiction!Bump; anyone else for the TOS pic?
I am.
The caption is very amusing, since I have not a single idea of who is playing whom.
The old image was far to dark anyway..
Good enough. The pic and caption are up, potholed, and tagged; I added a generic example to the page, but it probably needs tweaking. Locking up.
This image is not completely clear in more ways than one. Beyond the grainy quality, it is rather ambiguous in its illustration of the trope. The trope description specifically states, "Characters sit in an awkward semi-circle around a table so as to avoid anyone sitting with their backs to the camera/audience." This is a little bit hard to demonstrate with only two characters, as is shown in the current image.
Here's the current image for reference:
