There is a reason why as a rule, any time I ask for a continuation or sequel, it always comes with the caviat of having the original creative team. Of course, in this case they weren't likely to get Mc Cracken back, both because he's still working on Wander Over Yander and because he left the original PPG to create Foster's before it ended.

He strikes me as a guy that would rather move on to new projects rather than revist old ones.

The one true fear of something getting sequel'd or rebooted...it could happen to anything.

For No Reason At All!!

My greatest hope is we get enough 90's nostalgia to get Disney to bring back Greg Weisman for a Gargoyles contination, My greatest fear is bring on some yahoo to do a Gargoyles reboot.

I actually wonder if the current trend of creators voicing one or more major characters is to make it harder for them to be taken off the project?

What's Greg even been doing since he left Star Wars Rebels?

What could be more superhero in video than pointlessly repeating the same stories over and over?

I'm fine with "reboots" depending on what they are and who's working on them. Sometimes a property is beloved and good for what it was at the time but dated enough that a more modern reimagining can do it good.

That's not really the case with PPG though, at least not at the time this reboot is being made.

I hope that if this show does manage to get a second season(Which I'm betting it will), that they'll listen to the criticisms, fix some of the problems(All of them being fixed is wishful thinking. At least by the second season), and end up with an improved product.

The only criticisms I think can be objectively fixed are the apparent animation errors (which I usually miss) and not doing so much with memes. Oh, and actually airing episodes in an order that makes sense.

Though the only one of those things that actually bugs me is the schedule. Better animation is cool but I don't notice most of the apparent mistakes anyway.

Beyond that, I really don't see this show changing that much, but who knows.

All of them being fixed is like wishing for a utopian world.

The major things now is just...Better animation, no meems, and some third thing, like better grammar or something.

Animation and lessening the meme jokes will hopefully be fixed by season 2(If it gets one), but I hope that show just gets more interesting then it is now. Cause currently, while not bad, it's not really all that good. It's very mediocre. Even when you don't compare it to the original, the show feels so dull in a lot of ways.

People really should not using Teen Titans Go as an example of a reboot done wrong.

It was obviously never meant to be a sequel to the first series in the first place. That people projected that onto it is their own fault more than the shows.

Edit: And that's not me defending the quality of the show, just saying that if your going to critique something, critique it on something it's actually trying to do.

Well it's based on the first show, isn't it?

LSBK Since: Sep, 2014

No, it's based on a few comedic shorts that were based on the show. It was thing that happened for the time. Shorts like Starfire baby sitting Blackfire's kids or them all being turned into dogs. Things you clearly aren't supposed to take seriously.

But even with that, it was obvious that Teen Titans Go had no intention of picking up where the old show left off or with a similar tone. So saying "It's failing at doing this thing it was never trying to do." is stupid.

If you think the comedy is terrible and mean-spirited it's an entirely different matter.

And yet it's still a series that tries to leech as much name and cred recognition from the previous series as possible, while wasting no chance to take cheap shots at it, and to every other DC show they can. I can't take their claims of trying to be their own thing seriously when they keep on doing that.

The cheap shots weren't there from the beginning and claiming that they were strikes me as disingenuous. Those were a direct results of fans claiming a comedy show was "spitting" on the old one and the like. Which also strikes me as silly and pointless.

But, this isn't the Teen Titans Go thread.

And yet they feel the need to fall into mutual name calling instead of just trying to be the best men. Which, considering they are supposed to be actual professionals aiming for a product that should be timeless instead of incomprehenible once the flame wars pass by, it's still a major strike against them.

The Batman took all its criticism of NOT MUH BTAS in stride and just kept on trying to be its own thing. With hits and misses, but they never resorted to petty trolling. Even Brave and the Bold managed it with an elegant, classy speech from Bat-Mite, the most nonsense prone character in the whole setting, of all people, on how all different views on Batman should be tolerated. GO! instead resorts to butthurt strawmanning as a defense mechanism.

Go! doesn't feel like it makes for a fair comparison to the new PPG 'reboot'. With Go!, it's quite clearly it's own thing in it's own (moronic) universe.

With this new 'reboot', it's like a mix of it's own, new thing while also trying to be a continuation of the original but failing on both ends.

[up][up]Never argued that the Go! people behave well or maturely. But that also doesn't mean I'm going to ignore that I think they had lot of unfair things thrown at them from the beginning.

It's a fair is fair thing. I honestly can't take anyone who tries to say that most of the complaints thrown at Go! at the beginning were constructive or objective. Calling them butthurt doesn't really help your point. Now it's an entirely different matter with that show.

The complaints about this show strike me as lot more credible than the ones that were thrown at early Go!.

Edit: Again, though, this isn't the Go! thread.

The new PPG strike me as mostly mediocre more than anything else, and really, we've been there before, in the last seasons of the original series. It's hard for me to feel much one way or another here because it's mostly like a repeat of something that already happened and didn't leave enough of a mark in the first place. I suppose this will be much of the same once the furor dies down.
