Powerpuff Girls Reboot

I really don't hate it! I just don't think it can really tell an acceptable story sometimes.

That's something I don't want the new PPG series to trickle down to.

Considering that telling stories isn't part of its purpose, that hardly seems worth complaining about.

Terrible humor and jerkass characters. People can dislike it for more than the reason you gave and its close minded to assume that's the reason everyone dislikes it.

GO! is a nice gag that ended up going too long. At first the black humor was novel and really funny, but that kind of humor wears thin quick when the characters prove being irredeemable jerks too long, especially when they're supposed to be heroes. I used to love it, but by now it just annoys me. It's like that really funny friend you had that just refuses to grow up by now.

Yeah, Ryan! You hear what this guy is saying? Grow up already!

Now, now, I'm sure Mr. Reynolds will get to be in an actually good movie someday.

I actually really liked Green Lantern. It wasn't great, but it was damn good fun.

I actually liked RIPD, but God, it's a mess of a movie regardless.

Seriously, by this point I kind of feel pity for the guy. I really hope the Deadpool movie succeeds.

RIPD actually looked pretty fun, I meant to go see that but never got around to it.

...Ryan Reynolds does a lot of comic book movies, I just realized.

I'm aware people can dislike Teen Titans Go! as a shown separate from the old Teen Titans, it's just by far the most common complaint levied against it. I'm mixed on the show, myself. Nothing close-minded about not judging a show on something it was never meant to be judged on the first place.

New voice actors announced and small look at the redesigns.

They don't look significantly different from the old designs, from what little I see.

... I see what CN's doing. They're hiring newer, younger, less-experienced (I have NEVER heard of any of these girls before) actors who won't ask for as high a salary as seasoned professionals, and who have a greater chance of connecting to the core audience and are young enough to become possible pop singers maybe-possibly-definitely.

... Well. I already have a bad feeling about the fate of this show, now, if that's true, that is.

I'll be honest, I've made my peace with this. At worst, it'll boost CN's income and allow them to support struggling but superior shows, a la FX commissioning Anger Management, and I can just quietly ignore it.

Do I hope it turns out better than that? Of course. But if it doesn't I won't be too torn up. The original still exists.

One of the downsides of being on the viewership side of this is that we need to wait to actually SEE the show to figure out WHY they wanted to reboot this!

Well, the girls don't look like those "modern art" style girls this time, but I wonder if they kept the origin story the same from the series/movie or the messed up one from the special. And who the Hell are these three amateurs? It's like CN head execs told them to grab anyone who sounded close enough to Tara Strong and E.G. Daily from the lobby and ask them if they ever watched Powerpuff girls.

I can't say I'm really looking forward to this now that the style is switching back and forth. They should have been butch enough to keep the new style to match CN's hipster tone.

Those are three really cute young women (especially Palamides) so I think there might be merit to the theory this is part of them being groomed into idols. Of course, that doesn't mean they couldn't be talented in their own way.

Edit: 4-chan tells me Tom Kenny said Mojo Jojo will retain his original voice (which implies Tom Kenny should also be staying in, presumably as the Major), but, well, 4-chan.

You say that like it's a bad thing that they are using designs similar to the superior designs of the original show.

Yeah, what's with the negativity?

Breaking all-new voice actresses into the business with such a high-profile IP is a wonderful decision.

And the girl's designs are one of those things you just shouldn't mess with. The freaky bug-eyed roundness of their heads is too iconic and I'm relieved they didn't go with anything more realistic or more "anime."

I don't want to look at previews because I want to give the series a fair go without any preconceptions. I'm all for giving a PPG reboot a shot as long as it doesn't tarnish the good name of the series.

Remember: Teen titans GO was the first CN Show to take an old property and make it "fresh". We saw how fans reacted to that. Let's hope New!PPG doesn't do the same mistake(s).

Then again, I'm comparing an Apple to an orange at this point.

Well, keep in mind this is the same day CN also announced a BEN 10 REBOOT TOO, so I'm not in a happy mood at the moment.

Agreed - CN needed to reboot Ben Ten like they needed to make another show like Teen Titans Go. Not at all.

But - let's focus on what's here. I'll say that even with that nice concept art, it'll take more than that to woo me over, knowing that the voice acting is a bit suspect with its main characters, for example.
