Are you talking about the appeal of the show to the audience? Or to the contestants?
For the audience, you get to watch idiots who can't cook getting verbally abused by Ramsey.
For the contestants, Money, Dear Boy.
The show is so obviously, sloppily edited that you can tell Ramsay isn't as angry as he appears.
And the way the music rises to a crescendo every two seconds — unwatchable!
Unfortunately Kitchen Nightmares has the same puerile formula.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI was referring to the contestants, why do they take that abuse even if its fake? Heck, why do people watch Ramsay or even any other head chef who acts like Drill Sergeant Nasty?
Thus why I cannot understand their appeal.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."Why do people eat live cockroaches on TV? Some people will do anything for money/fame/prizes.
I like the show. It always starts out a bit slow at first, but once the crappy contestants get weeded out and they get down to some real cooking, it can be really good. The formula is a bit stale and could probably do with some shaking up, but they keep putting on the same stuff and keep getting ratings, so it seems to be working.
This starts out like a complaint thread and it ain't gonna fly like that. Either this becomes a thread about the show in general or it goes away.

I used to watch this show, but I got bored with the unsportsmanlike, incompetent contestants a long time ago. I like Ramsay himself, though.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyI really enjoyed the Maitre d' Jean-Phillippe, when he was on the show. He could be quite funny at times.
This most recent season, I believe, they had for the first time someone who got everything correct in the blind taste test. Very good palette.
I don't see the appeal of this show especially with that Ramsay guy, why do they take that abuse from him? It iusn't as though that they are in the army assuming that they actually do this.
