Yes you read that title correctly.

Well I got this RPG on a hunch that it would be good and it doesn't disappoint. The game is based around the following premise; Cthulhu, lord of R'yleh, has awoken from his slumber, and rises from the deep to bring destruction to the world. However, he gets cursed by a nearby mage, losing his powers until he can prove himself a true hero.

...unfortunately, the narrator lets this last point slip, wisening up Cthulhu as to how in order to regain his powers and destroy the world. so it is that Cthulhu temporarily throws off the cloak of darkness and embarks on a quest to prove himself a true hero!

And yes, it's as ridiculous as it sounds.

For those familiar to the game, I'm playing through on Insane (yes I hate myself) and I've noticed there is a dramatic difficulty spike after the Dunwitch Horror section. Though I have to admit its a unique experience watching Cthulhu get the living daylights beaten out of him by an army of chipmunks.

It's moments like that, that should make you rush out and buy this game. It's only two quid on Steam anyway.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.

It's actually $0.99 in a bundle with Breath of Death right now.

The game's nothing special, really. The humour carries the whole thing.

I like how the combat system REALLY encourages aggressive play.

Oh Jesus. Just met the Ape Princess on Insanity, and I'm convinced I need to be about three levels higher. The problem is that by the time the battle reaches round four, she's strong enough to wipe out a character every turn; that forces me to devote two of the remaining characters to healing, and I don't have that many potions.

Which I honestly don't think a handful of level ups is going to fix!

Also, this game has the best combat music.

Bumping because I just hopped on the Cthulhu bandwagon (I'm a groupie!) and I have a question.

I'm currently building our favorite Old One to be the party tank and letting Umi be a bit more of a caster. This a viable strategy?
