The only scenario I can imagine Akame pairing up with Tatsumi at this point is if everyone dies except them.

The lion had been keeping Akame occupied to some degree. Take her out of the picture and Akame would go despair and Tatsumi would feel... somewhat obliged.

Fair enough kill Mein, Kill Leone and Tatsumi x Akame is possible. Rebound is fine too! (jk)

The new issue is published in Japan and someone put about 8 pages on mangabird. Holy crap, Bors. He is Not Quite Dead and Shura has some plan for him. Tatsumi is going well. Rabac crossdresses. Shura acts like a pimp. And there's some yuri subtext going on.

Chelsea aside, probably Shura is going to tell Bors that Incursio or Esdese killed his family. The eye stars is just a indicator for the microphone, I guess?

... I'm sorry, but Esdese just sounds so much more natural than "Esdeath". The former rolls off the tongue silky smooth (relatively speaking, anyway), while the latter... kinda makes you sound either like a really poorly named D&D character (like Jim Darkmagic) or someone who's just hacking up a hairball/taking remedial Klingon classes.

By now I'm convinced that whenever mangaka has to choose between putting an L and R in a name he'll choose the one that make the name sound more retarded.

Honest is his title, I think. And Makoto means honest...

According to Japanese speaker(s), her pronunciation in romanji is “Esdesu” (エスデス). Desu is the katakana equivalent to the English word “Death”, they don’t have “Th” in their language so they replace it with “s” where usually end English words with “u” or “o”. Originally desu can be grammatical ending in Japanese which means to be, it is, are, they are etc.

I get the distinct feeling Taeko is gonna be the one to get the first kill out of the top seven... Strictly cause I think her sword is gonna be a Teigu and what better way to prove the whole Teigu > Shingu thing that has been set up.

Okay, so did anyone read scans of the pre-anime companion book? There are a few interesting background information such as Imperial army swords are auto-sharpened because they are made with a bit of Teigu science.

Second episode is out:

We see Tatsumi's first assassination, and learn about Akame's past. But most importantly we learn that Akame... let's just say that all those proteins paid off. Damn girl.

This episode flowed much better than the first one. It still isn't as dark as the manga but they cut down on the joke considerably. This adaptation might yet work out.
