I wonder if Windy Whistles is going to be based off of Wind Whistler from G1 My Little Pony, such as having a similar color scheme or personality? Wind Whistler does look somewhat like Rainbow Dash (they both are light blue pegasi with pink/magenta eyes, although Wind Whistler has a light pink mane), and I think it would be funny if Rainbow Dash had a relative who she would consider to be an "egghead" since G1 Wind Whistler acts a lot like the TV Genius trope.

Do we know whether the new season will take place before or after the movie/when it will come out in relation to the movie?
I think Season 7 comes out in April this year, and the movie comes out in October (or sometime in autumn), so season 7 will air first.
If they are going for a grand finale feel with the movie than that would make the most sense. S7 Might even introduce some concepts in advance for the movie as well.

The "hilarious in hindsight" tag on Derpibooru is going to get a workout.
Reaction Image RepositoryI'm not sure if this will mean more Starlight in the upcoming season, or less of her. Or about the same amount as last season, but with a different social dynamic?
As long as she's not getting written out of the season, I'll be fine with it.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Well my first three thoughts are: 1. John de Lancie is thankfully in Season 7.
2. It looks like Twilight will have to get a new arc.
3. Starlight is totally going to become an alicorn, isn't she?
This song needs more love.I suspect if Starlight were to become an alicorn, we would have seen some inkling of that at Toy Fair. Hasbro loves to promote their newest princesses. (See Cadance, Twilight, and Flurry Heart.)
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkThat's a good point. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing where both Starlight and Twilight go from here on out. They could both benefit from separating.

This song needs more love.Well, it looks like Starlight's whole subplot is moving... rather fast. Then again, Starlight herself is even surprised by it, so it might be the case that they're setting her up to realize it isn't quite that easy. Turning her into an alicorn would definitely be a bit much. There are plenty of other characters who deserve that way more than she does (like the other mane five for instance.)
Reaction Image RepositoryI don't think that any of the Mane Cast aside from Twilight would really work as an alicorn. They're all content to do their own things with their lives, and Twilight is the only character for who the position of "Princess" could even slightly make sense in terms of what she values and how she's developed.
Anyone notice that necklace Starlight has? Looks kinda like an element, I wonder what's up with that.
She, Trixie, Thorax, and Discord all have the same thing, so it's probably more akin to friendship bracelets. (Friendship necklaces?)
But thanks for pointing that out anyway, I didn't notice they had that the first time around.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Man, I can't wait for that Starlight episode disguised as a Celestia episode.
Is this another part of pony friendship? Telling each other what you learned all the time? They could've gotten medals or something for basically saving Equestria after the events of last season.
Reaction Image RepositoryThat could also be the case, yes. But I just like the idea that the four of them are totally besties now.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...I wonder how Discord would feel about being rewarded for saving Equestria instead of turning it into a super-weird crazy place of chaos and anarchy?
I like to keep my audience riveted."At least when I conquered Equestria, I made it interesting. They would've just put green slime everywhere. So monochromatic."

I'll take Terminal for 500 bits Alex
I'm going to say it's... Ludicrous Speed!
I like to keep my audience riveted.Damn these ponies, teaching our children about witchcraft and lesbians!

I'm personally excited for episode 3 (although more Maud is always great, since she's one of my favorites) because ever since Cadance being pregnant was revealed in "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows", I've wanted a story where Twilight has to foalsit for Cadance's child. Mainly because Cadance was TWILIGHT's foalsitter, plus with the way Twilight was a little condescending to Pinkie in "Baby Cakes" where she assumed she knew better how to handle a baby/young foal, I thought it would be fun to see how Twilight would handle being a foalsitter herself (especially if she obsesses about trying to prove that she can be as good as Cadance at it). There was a little bit of that in "The Crystalling", but it wasn't the focus of the story and Twilight wasn't the only one watching over Flurry Heart (probably for the best, considering how powerful Flurry Heart was before she got her power restrained).
One guess I had when I first thought of the plot idea was that Twilight would expect whoever she was foalsitting to be as bookish as she was as a filly (and so she'd think a foal would be easily entertained by just giving them a bunch of books to read, or that they'd sit still while Twilight read to them), but I'm not sure if she'd make that mistake with Flurry Heart at this point. According to the description, Twilight's problem is more likely to be that she tries to handle a bunch of other responsibilities at the same time as being Flurry Heart's foalsitter.

Season 7 news from the Toy Fair (Only in the first part of the post)
We see Rainbow Dash's parents, Windy Whistles and Bow Hot Hoof.
Applejack's parents have a flashback maybe-musical episode about them, episode 13! They are Bright Mac and Pear Butter. They have a Romeo and Juliet style love story, and Applejack's mother sings a song.
This is great to see, and the Apples and Pears having a family rivalry is amazing.
