How do you know that there is an original?

I'm not saying it was definitely uploaded by the artist, but it has to originate from somewhere. I highly doubt that a gag site was the first to publish it. These sites just re-hype and regurgitate each others' posts all the time, and the first one usually just finds it somewhere else, they're never the actual origin.

Anyway, I just found the source: it's a design by artist Cnatch. The version of the image that was posted here is a tee design on Threadless by the same artist, which then got posted and pinned all around. I'll try to contact them.

(btw, my earlier post seems to have been off. It looks like the pic was published this year, I don't know why google dated that pin 2006 then. Sorry!)

Platypus and panda bear are both great. They're parodying the DBZ example but (unlike DBZ) the end result is visually obvious.

Unfortunately I could only contact him through facebook which isn't ideal, but he was last active on Oct 5 so he should probably get back to me soon.

If possible I prefer platypus or panda to DBZ, since in the latter the two fusing characters already look identical except for their clothes.

I'd say the animals or the actual Dragon Ball one. Infringement Man(?) looks more like Wolverine couldn't get a complete costume one day, and had to slap together various unmatching parts.

I see the bear image is in the lead, but I'm afraid we still don't have permission for it. Since my last post here, I also tried to contact the artist through his flickr, but no reply. :(

Let's give it another week, and if he/she still hasn't gotten back to us, then I think we're going to have to assume it's not available.
