Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood

PBS recently launched a spinoff of Mister Rogers Neighborhood focused on preschool-aged Daniel Tiger and his friends, the children and young relatives of other established Neighborhood of Make-Believe characters.

I doubt anyone will find the kind of Parental Bonus quality to be anywhere near MLP, but it's a cute, positive show and does its best to live up to the legacy.

Since they added O the Owl (X's nephew?), Prince Wednesday (Tuesday's little brother), and Miss Elena (somehow related to Lady Elaine Fairchild), I figured that the original Daniel Striped Tiger had grown into Dad Tiger and Daniel was the original's son. Apparently they decided that Dad Tiger wasn't consistent with Daniel Striped, because according to a TV listing the star is the grandson of the original, even though the timelines don't really make sense.

Linkage?

Well, this muddies the issue a bit. Daniel's father is listed as "Daniel Striped 'Dad' Tiger", and Daniel's grandfather is listed as an incidental character, but just known as "Grandpere Tiger".

I think I trust Wikipedia over a TV listing.

TVT breaks links when they have a ' in them. I saw it at the time, but I was on my phone and had less than no time to end my break and get back to work.

Wow. That barely resembles anything from Mister Roger's Neighborhood. Although, the Henson Company agreed to help produce a CG preschool show on the Doozers from Fraggle Rock, so this kind of idea might be "in".

Animation is going to look different from puppetry, yes.

Daniel Tiger is way too cute.

I am still giving it the side-eye because the lead is a tiger... I just... it is like the most random choice. I can understand just a cat or a dog.
