I glad the Carrier stretch goal was reached. Actually, I'm just excited for the app. So useful...

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI don't have 37 dollars but goddamn I want to spend money I don't have.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?A little less than two hours, but about 27000 to go!
Edit: 17000!

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged Men6 million has been reached! I wonder if the big publishers have been paying attention to this. People actually do want space sims again.
Not Three Laws compliant.SIX MILLION! WOOHOO!
... Now we wait for the actual game. Since I doubt anyone else here is going to pledge more, shall we keep track of what we have, for those of us who pledged?
Lets see. I pledged Scout on Kickstarter, so in addition to the citizen card and alpha/beta access, I have an Aurora. I also have a repair robot, and around 2000-2500 credits.

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenThis kickstarter is offically the most successful video game kickstarter, by about 2 million. Wow.
Not Three Laws compliant.Actually, I have to dispute that. It may be the most successful crowd funding, but on Kickstarter has only 2 million.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenMy mistake.
Now that I know they're making the game they wanted to make, I'm really happy. I loved Freelancer, and Starlancer wasn't bad (my computer hated it, but that's another story) and I'm working my way through the Wing Commander series. (Thanks GOG!)

Not Three Laws compliant.Still, FUCKYES. Lets see. Things I need to do to play this game, in order of most pressing to most ostentatious:
Upgrade PC to awesome levels from crappy levels
Get a mic
Get some sort of joystick system (looking at Mek Fu, because I also want to play Hawken)
OCULUS RIFT
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenUnfortunately, I was tapped out after my "Make mine a double" ($60) contribution.
I really wanted to spring for the "Wingnut" level ($125), given my participation (if somewhat minimal the past few years) in the online WC fandom (particularly the WC CIC), but I have almost zero free money to throw at any game, even a Chris Roberts space sim.

All your safe space are belong to Trump@Recon: I'm still nervous because I've been burned so much by hype before.
Stay nervous, we're two years out. So much stuff gets put on the cutting room floor it might not be anything like the footage we've already seen.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?I'm already putting together a Star Wars music playlist to accompany dogfights.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenEspecially since Robert's later projects have a tendency to not fulfill promises (i.e. Freelancer, though that game still managed to be pretty awesome).

Now that I think about it, I don't think Chris Roberts made Freelancer. I think it was his brother, Eric Roberts. Starlancer was Chris Robert's thing and if I remember correctly, the development time got slashed or something.
EDIT: Okay, I looked it up. Chris Roberts and his brother Eric worked on Starlancer and Freelancer, but before Freelancer's total overhaul, Chris Roberts left the company.

Not Three Laws compliant.Freelancer was really good =/
It wasn't all that deep but it's a great intro to the weirdness involved in space sims. It takes awhile to get used to moving in that kind of environment and aiming is a whole 'nother issue.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?... The only game with remotely space gameplay I have played is Battlefront II. I have played sim games, though. Inherited and played through all of the Mechwarrior 4 games, with a joystick and throttle.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenGlad it made it's 6mil goal. I got a Colonel package from kickstarter and enough extra money on top of that for some electro paint and the pirate package :D
And I'm starting a new job soon that pays more, so by the time this is out, I'll probably have more ships :o
I'm just happy with my lifetime-insured Aurora. I'm sure I'll get a tanker and cart fuel around once the game comes out...
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenIf anyone has been following the news updates, a lot of stuff has been done lore-wise to the game.mrecently the naming system was worked out, the Time Capaule is a really cool in-universe timeline, and Spectrum Dispatch is a lot of other in-universe stuff, including a writers guide.
Mainly, there is now a rough list of aliens:
Banu: Humanity's first contact, as we were theirs. Their governments are disjointed, with a separate one for each planet. Their. hat seems to be trade; their border worlds are popular places for criminals to escape to, with no extradition treaties.
Tevarin: Proud Warrior Race, emphasis on the 'proud'. Fought two wars against the UEE, but are now conquered.
Xi'An: Long-lived race that had a Cold War with the UEE. Their heads look like turtles, and they are at peace with the UEE. They have a hereditary monarchy, ruled by Emporer Kray, still in power from the Cold War.
Vanduul: Always Chaotic Evil raiders; our first contact was them exterminating an entire human colony and raiding it.
Kr'Thak: Nomadic race, no official contact. They and the Xi'An engaged in an 800-year conflict known as 'The Spirit Wars', and relations are strained. The Xi'An empire closely guards their borders with them, though, and there is no other known way to reach them.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenThe new site is up! There is a big list of exactly what you have pledged, plus new stuff being revealed, and new stretch goals!
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenWell, I've been eyeing this game for a while because Freelancer was a pretty big part of my childhood and more recently I've become quite enamored with Freespace 2 and Strike Suit Zero/Strike Suit Infinity, and yesterday I finally put down $70 on the Space Mercedes Bounty Hunter package and Military skin. Needless to say, I have high hopes for this game, namely that it can combine the economic simulation of EVE Online with the less intimidating Wide-Open Sandbox-ing of Freelancer while delivering Freespace-tier space combat.
I pledged fairly early on, but everything they release just makes the game and the universe seem better and better(and my bank account smaller and smaller). I can honestly say I've never anticipated a game anywhere near as much as this one.
You're decidedly not-cynical about this one. Maybe you should stop looking at big devs and ruined AAA franchises until your blood pressure is back to normal.
