They probably either cleared the rights to that music, decided to just go for it and risk it, or just took it out (A small price to pay for Earthbound).
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!my money's on clearing the rights. if they had agreed to pay for it, each copy would cost $70
All right, I'll just put this out there.
I've seen the gameplay of Earthbound and... it looks very standard. Aside from the writing/story, is the game really that good to warrant a VC release getting so much hype?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."The gameplay is very standard. The dialogue and story is basically whole reason the series is popular.
Yeah. Figured as much.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."It's really just quite a cult classic. Gameplay is fine if rather standard, but the story, characters, enemies, ect. are all oddly quirky and charming.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!GAHHHHH FINALLY I CAN PLAY THIS LEGALLY GAHHHHHHH!
The moment I get it, I no longer have to play EB via emulator.
...I'll actually miss the ability to load saves, but this is still joyous news!
When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefPersonally, the only reason I want to play it is because of Smash Bros.
I understand. The reason I played it was because of Smash Bros, too.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.XD I actually rented the game (and the Strategy Guide - yes, you could rent it with the Strategy Guide) way back when I still had an SNES.
I could never get past the first Sanctuary Boss. Then again, I was very young...
When I learned Ness was in SSB, I was surprised and happy to see him included. He was a pain to get though.

That's something I found strange about the first part of the game: it's harder than the rest of the game.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Hell has frozen over.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.@ Stamina: Well, the rolling counter gauges still keep it fresh compared to other RPGs of the time, but, as others have said, you'll probably get more out of 3 in terms of the hard gameplay.

The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!I don't think there's much reason to expect a game from so long ago to be worth a lot of hype in terms of gameplay. Once it's been done, good gameplay is easier to replicate than good writing. Video game classics are classic because they were good in ways that are hard to copy.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back. The Mother series's only notable gameplay quirk (prior to 3 and it's overhaul) was the fact that, even in the relatively difficult first game, many enemies' "attacks" didn't do anything - they were just funny little in-character things (grinning hyenas, a robot telling scary stories, bats assessing the situation - and confusing themselves with the strain in the process, and so on.) You might make it through an encounter because a street punk can't stay on his pogo stick long enough to beat you up. Basically, the game's -never- stop being quirky (even the level up lines are funny in the second game!), and that's something a lot of fans appreciate.
Yeah, isn't one of the bosses a robot who has only a very slim chance of attacking (but his attack is devestating), because he'll do things like buzz randomly or break down and stuff?
I think so? There's a couple of robot bosses that do odd stuff one gets beaten because the band you helped out notices the off switch you didn't, but I don't remember something quite like that.
Those are both the same boss.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back. And the biggest gameplay deviation they have is the rolling counter for health, where a character can survive a fatal blow if he is healed faster than his HP rolls down. Which I would actually like to see more games do, honestly. It's a cool idea.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderLets hope that by buying this, we can pull off a Sin And Punishment and get them to localize the rest of the series.
... unless THAT thing gets ridiculous sales expectations too.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Admittedly I only got into the MOTHER series because of Super Smash Bros. It's a pretty good gateway series, no?
On the other hand, even as someone who boarded the MOTHER train thanks to Super Smash Bros, I found it incredibly annoying how it introduced an influx of people going to MOTHER-related sites to go "r noss n lukis bruthrs?" or otherwise not even do their research before going in. I suppose that's the reason why a lot of people don't like when their cult classic game becomes popular, though.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Do you think Nintendo would be willing to use Tomato's translation for MOTHER 3 if they ever officially localize that game, or would they make their own, separate translation?

Now, if only if we got a digital player's guide and get a scratch-n-sniff like the original deal...
