Last time playing, I actually found playing it to be fairly challenging, thought not that much. I often heard people calling it a very easy game (other than a few bosses), so they must have a different opinion of "easy" than me.
Maybe I was doing it wrong. Perhaps I focused too much on bashing enemies, using strong but expensive attacks, and hoarding too many food items. Even when I knew it was a bad idea, I couldn't get out of the habit. This time, I'll focus more on status ailment PSI, actually eating food, and using the Spy command.
On a similar note, I wonder if Poo will suck less this time around.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Level grind him when you first get him, and pray you get the Sword of Kings.
Otherwise, abuse his use of Freeze, wide-spread Shield, easy PP recovery, and then Starstorm.
I have a message from another time...Really, Poo was little more than a Shield setter for me.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Damn good at that, though.
I have a message from another time...Not as good as Paula's PSI Shield Omega, though.
Especially against Starman DX.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! You can designate Poo as shieldsetter so Paula can focus on her elemental attacks. It's often preferable to specialize.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Poo gets all forms of Shield. Paula gets all forms of PSI Shield. The two moves are similar, but target different offenses, so which one you use is dependent on the fight in question.
I have a message from another time...PSI Shield is far more broken, since it blocks all PK attacks and reflects all damage in beta and omega variants.
Understandably, I believe it was toned down in MOTHER 3.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Yes, but when n opponent is not using PSI attacks, Poo's shields are what you want.
I have a message from another time...Yeah, though Poo's are less useful since most physical attacks are single-target as opposed to all-target, PSI damage is more dangerous and often hits everyone, and the PSI shield reflects all damage rather than half to you and half to them.
It has its use, though, mainly against foes like Diamond Dog and... that's about the only thing worth using it on since most enemies aren't a threat and the other bosses all use PSI from Poo's rejoining onward.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Poo's still a good PSI atttacker after Shield loses usefulness. Ness won't be using any PSI from that point on unless you're unprepared with food items and have to Lifeup.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Poo is useful as a fourth attacker, he just doesn't have a unique niche like the other three. He's sort of a Jack of All Stats.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! That versatility is kinda unique, though. The others can either heal, or use PSI attacks with efficient costs. Poo can do both, though not quite as well.
I have a message from another time...Indeed.
Also, Mirror is kinda useless. The only thing it's good for is a few laughs. "Poo ranted about the youth of today!"
I did once have him mimic an Atomic Power Robot and replenish everyone's health, though.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I find Ness's healing useless after a point, since I stock up on Kraken Soups and/or Large Pizzas.

Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Conversely, I find food items useless after a certain point, since Ness just makes the pain go away.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I heard that Mirror removes status effects from Poo after he uses it. Not terribly useful, but something I should check out.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Large Pizzas are great, though the wait is kinda painful.
One thing that's interesting; If Jeff uses the Neutralizer, it makes Poo revert to his original form.
I have a message from another time...Used the "For Sale" sign today. It was fun.
Also, seriously? They give you all the new characters at level 1?
Either way, i'm putting this aside for a while. Pikmin3 time.
Actually, your last character starts at level 16.
And then gains a few levels before joining you.
Still way under what you'll be at the time, though.
I have a message from another time...I discovered that I rarely use Jeff to attack. I'm too busy using the Slime Generator and his Spy command. Note that I do not consider using Goods to be "attacking".
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Wait until you repair the Heavy Bazooka.
That's an item, not a weapon, but it's so much better than most of his actual guns.
I have a message from another time...The Heavy Bazooka is literally infinite Super Bombs.
Even with the Gaia Beam, it often deals more damage than his regular Attack AND it hits nearby foes.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! And the Defense Shower is also great. It's infinite Defense Sprays, but targets everyone.
Jeff really does become just amazing when you get him the right equipment.
I have a message from another time...
As long as you don't kill yourself in your confusion (which is aggravating as all hell), Mushroomization is cool, if only because it is a source of income, and a handy one. Once I get all four party members together, i'll have to see if i can't bait Ramblin' Shrooms to farm money (though $200 will likely be chump change if video game inflation is at work here)
New Age Retro Hippie's "Ruler" attack made me lol.
Thank god for emulator save-scumming. I got scammed by the orange kid and got Advice Guy's Advice for free. I did find it annoying that I had to invest in Apple Kid, then wander around with the phone for a while before i was notified of the eraser to open the way to Happy Happy.
