Aww, c'mon Lucas Arts, just give us Battlefront 3! Cut yourself a nice little slice of FPS/TPS pie!

But this looks interesting anyway.

Well, it's at the very least an XBLA title (I assume PSN and PC as well), which means it'll be smaller scale and at most $20.

Well, we'll see if it's worth buying.

A lot of Star Wars boxart tends to depict an epic battlescene, or a Jedi/main player character upfront. The majority of the player-character related games tended to avoid large battlescenes. The ones that didn't tend to be a pretty mixed bag. RT Ses, arcade-style starfighting, vehicluar combat, and the one we all want, a free-roaming battlefield. Lots of different things this game could be about.

Yeah, but it probably uses the assets from Battlefront 3.

Could be a new Rebel Assault game...

What if it's a fixed RA game?

Actually, from the box art I want to think it might be some kind of tactical game, maybe a Tactical-RPG, a squad control game, or perhaps a smaller scale command game like Overlord. Less likely, it could be some kind of RTS.

The art focuses on the battle and doesn't focus on any particular character, implying a measure anonymity for the player - if it is a F/3PS then it's unlikely to be one with any specific characters to play.

I noticed that the boxart focuses mainly on soldiers in general, though - the first scene is solders against an army with the machines being either antagonists or out of focus, and the other is soldiers vs soldiers. So it's likely focus on them and not so much on vehicles - which makes RTS unlikely unless it's a very interestingly designed one. It does lend more credence to being a Battlefront sort of thing, though. Or a tactics game.

Interesting question: If it's Battlefront 3 in all but name, would it fulfill requests for Battlefront 3 despite the slightly different IP? If not, why not?

New info. It is a prequel to Battlefront III, and is on hold.

Going off those screens, I'd play the fucking shit out of it.

But I gotta say, one of those commentors hit it right on the head: Let DICE build it. Best. Game. Ever.

DICE? You do know that they didn't do Battlefront, right? They already had one massive clusterfuck with Battlefield 3.

Pandemic did it.

Free Radical worked on Battlefront 3.

LucasArts management change fucked Battlefront 3.

I know who DICE did. Battlefield 3 was a damn badass game, and they'd be my first choice at a new Battlefront.

Aw man, why they gotta make it FPS? I liked the third person just fine! In fact, I'd buy more shooters if they had a TPS option.

Not getting into that. I know better.

They might give it an over-shoulder option like the first two. I don't think they would, though, especially if they try to put it in the market competing against the likes of COD and BF.

Why does Lucasarts hate money.

Any way they do it, as long as they use the Battlefront formula, it would be great. Well, other factors are important, but it would probably sell well.
