Season 4 will be lighter in tone
http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/arrow-ep-reveals-season-four-will-take-a-lighter-tone
Guggenheim gets a bit defensive about season 3, saying he won't apologize for making it "so dark". It wasn't that fans and critics couldn't handle the darkness, they couldn't handle every single character being written wildly, stupidly out of character and create unnecessary drama by arguing about subjects that have been settled a million times before in previous seasons. He talks about Sara's murder setting the tone, yeah, it was so important to the story that Ollie protected her murderer the entire season and then empowered him in the finale.
THANK GOD for the lighter tone.
This whole season varied wildly in quality, in my opinion.
The lighter tone will last only one season, then Ollie will return from the bus trip.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp.""Hey, who turned out the lights?"
As much idiocy as there was this season, there was one aspect I really enjoyed: the development of Oliver's and Tatsu's relationship. It's nice to see there is at least one female Oliver trusts and is shown to be close to who he hasn't slept with or is related to. I loved watching their interactions go from antagonistic to consoling each other after the events in Hong Kong. There was some nice development on Oliver's part there as well. It was only when he showed his willingness to put his own neck on the line to rescue Maseo from the Triad that Tatsu started treating him like a worthwhile human being. Cuz that's the first time he acted like one instead of a whiny man child and threat to her family. Before long she trusts him enough to look after Akio and Oliver would gladly take a bullet for the kid. I hope we see more of Tatsu in the next season because she is a wonderful character and woefully underused.
I can't be the only one who wanted to punt Maseo across several dimensions for abandoning her, right? She's clearly telling him "I need you" and he walks away. The loss of a child is a devastating thing and I get Maseo pretty much broke at that point. But I just can't imagine looking at your equally broken wife, hearing her tell you she needs you to get through this, and still walk away.
Just once more to the breech, dear friend, once more.Agreed with that. It's a shame Tatsu did not tag along with Oliver, because this way he may not have needed an entire season to realize that killing bad guys does not make you a good man.
Yeah, pretty sure Tastu's influence would have kept him from going the kill everyone who stands in my way route. It's my theory that watching Akio die and the Yamashiro family completely fall apart probably did more damage to Oliver's psyche than the violence on Lian Yu. Let's be honest, Oliver didn't come from what one would call a "normal" family. Both his parents cheated on each other, Robert wasn't the upstanding business man he pretended to be, Moira was manipulative as all get out, Thea turned into a drug addict party girl, and Walter wasn't in the picture as part of the family when Oliver disappeared.
The Yamashiro family dynamic is probably the closest to "normal" Oliver will ever see. They clearly love each other very much and Maseo was quite open with Tatsu when it came to what his job required of him. Once Oliver gained acceptance into the family, he got to feel that familial love that was either absent or very different from what he experienced back home. At this point in time Oliver's lost Shado, Slade, and Sara (twice), so being taken in by a loving family (if under duress) had to have felt really good. Oliver could let his walls down that he'd built up out of necessity on Lian Yu, which he has been shown to not particularly enjoy keeping everyone away from him.
And then in one day he loses it all. That combined with (I'm assuming) his return to solitude on Lian Yu and all the horrors there undid all that progress he'd made in learning to be a more normal person. And very likely made it worse.
Just once more to the breech, dear friend, once more. It's pretty telling that he doesn't resort to torture until Akio dies, and at that point it's for little more than shits and giggles. So yeah, a lot of importance placed on the family unit.
Yeah, but all of that, in Ollie's family, doesn't come to light until his return. Until then, he had no idea of Robert's infidelity, of Moira's manipulative nature, and Thea wasn't into drugs until after his "death." None of those really had any effect on his psyche, as none of them came to light until after he gets back from Lian Yu, or while he was stuck there. As far as he was concerned when he went on that boat trip, his family was just like any other rich family.
And the torture made it worse, indeed. The only other time Oliver really tortured someone was out of necessity and under duress. This one, after his obvious distaste for the act, was just out of pure revenge.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?So just re watched the last part Captain Boomerang ep, and I finally noticed that when Barry super speeds everyone to the different bomb locations, only Roy is actually a little freaked out.
Which makes sense since Roy is the only one who's never really experienced what Barry can do.
And then I watched a clip of Barry's trip to Nanba Parbat, and it occurs to me that while still impressive (the result would have likely been the same no matter what) Barry really only rofl-stomped a skeleton crew of the league.
I mean, There was the two guard that were guarding Katana, then a few other guys. I wouldn't be surprised if there was only ten or twelve of them left (also note a few of them were killed when Team Arrow raided the base to stop the missiles).
It's a minor detail (like I said, the league doesn't yet have a counter for someone like Barry), but still.
One Strip! One Strip! When Ollie fights a group of communist supervillians he'll say: "We will Barry you."
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."It's a minor detail (like I said, the league doesn't yet have a counter for someone like Barry), but still.
I'm sure Oliver would be happy to give Malcolm the nanomachine arrows if he asked.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Considering how much he's been playing the Idiot Hero card this season I wouldn't entirely rule it out.
Trump delenda estHonestly, it's not needed. If you know Barry is coming, and you have no compunction about killing him, he isn't that hard to counter. He's impossible to fight, but setting up traps for him to kill himself by running into? Much simpler. Catching him alive ? Now that's hard.
A good near-invisible tripwire would probably cut him in half.
Apparently, Arrow had big plans for Harley Quinn that were cut due to the Suicide Squad movie

...I just really wonder how many...issues with Season 3's Meta Arc were because whenever the Writers Room had a good idea DC came in and said "MOVIE!"
"You can reply to this Message!"I have trouble buying that they would've actually followed through with putting together a plot with Harley Quinn, given that they were cutting out her scenes from the series for other reasons long before Suicide Squad was even in production.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. So they couldn't use HQ because of the movie but they could still use Katana?
Makes sense to me. HQ is, thanks to TAS, Video Games and stuff basically an A-Lister by now. Katana...not so much.
I can actually see them using Arrow as a way to up visibility for Katana but deny them Harley because they don't want to "confuse the viewers" with two version of a "well known" character.
"You can reply to this Message!"So Steven Amell just showed up on WWE Raw.
Apparently Stardust has been in a twitter war with him.
I just think that's cool and decided to share it here.
Oh shit. I forgot about the nano machines. I can't remember if I said it before, but I did point out that if he wasn't on their radar before, Barry is now, especially since the current leader knows about him. That right there is a great way to take him down.
Now I'm worried.
