Ra's is being played by Matt Nable, who's predictably not of Arab descent.
This is a signature.Does Matt Nable have any references?
He was pretty good in Riddick, apparently. Haven't seen him in anything myself, though.
Oh, fantastic. yet another white guy playing Ra's Al-Ghul. Ugh...
Maybe he'll be a decoy...
I think the reason they hired the actor they did is because they already had Katrina Law as Nyssa and they needed to hire someone that was believable as her father.
Edit* New trailer titled High Speed Chase.

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureBecause, of course, no one is going to accuse the show of racism or xenophobia if they cast a middle eastern actor for the role, assuming that a middle eastern actor was interested in the role in the first place.
1 2 We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. -KVWhy are you assuming an actor of middle eastern origin wouldn't be interested in the role? Do you know how many asian/middle eastern actors have trouble finding work in an industry dominated by white, male, actors?
I'm not assuming none was. I'm saying that we don't know who auditioned and it is impossible to know if any middle eastern actor was interested in this role. (to be fair, there may have been some, but as I said in my earlier post, it could be seen as racist or xenophobic to cast a middle eastern actor in this role)

1 2 We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. -KVWhy would it be considered to be racist, to cast a Middle-Eastern actor as a Middle-Eastern character? I know that he just happens to be an eco-terrorist, but that's only how the character was written. Besides, he was created before the whole "Arabs are automatically terrorists" stereotype really came into existence.

This is a signature. It's not that a middle-astern actor is cast as a middle-eastern character, it's that casting a middle-eastern actor as a terrorist leader can be seen as reinforcing the "all arabs are terrorists" stereotype, even if the original character was created before the stereotype and interpreting the character that way might require intentionally trying to find something to complain about.
1 2 We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. -KVI understand your point, but the converse is seen as whitewashing, which is also considered to be racist. So, there's no real way to win.
This is a signature.Austin Butler is playing a love interest for Thea.
He will first appear in episode 3.07 where he appears as a DJ.
At least it isn't another love interest for Felicity.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureHe's not even a character from the comics; he's just some random kid?
This is a signature.Yes he is just some random kid; unless they reveal his name as someone from the comics.
