Aoi Sekai no Chushin de: Console Wars Anime

The early Console Wars between Nintendo and Sega are being reimagined as a fantasy anime. The Segua Kingdom and Ninterudo Empire are fighting for supremacy, and the Segua's last best hope is an up-and-coming, speedy, blue haired dude!

All the characters◊ are based on Nintendo and Sega properties. If you can't guess who is who, Scroll down for the matches.

It is supposed to come out sometime at the end of the year.

Because it's hilarious and HNNNNGGGGGGGG. Besides, Kirby's gender means... pretty much squat, considering it's never been anything of importance in the games or anywhere else.

Well, they have to know what's going to happen if they give hi - her that sort of design.

Season 2: Just when the Nintenderu Empire takes over the Seuga kingdom. a new army known as the Soni Empire rises up to challenge Nintenderu.

Season 3: While the Nintenderu and Soni Empires are are still in a fierce battle, a new group named the X federation appears and turns the tide of the war.

So if the main character it from Sega, and Sega lost the war, does this mean this will end in tragedy?

If this is ever dubbed, Roger Craig Smith as Gia would be the perfect Actor Allusion. Also, Jimmy Hart versions of game themes would be cool.

Oh, wait. Apparently, no one has scanlated this yet. How in the world is that even possible? In fact, why am I only hearing of this now? Isn't this the kind of thing that should have been entered in the meme machine as soon as the first chapter was released?

Well, whatever. I wonder if Nintendo will be presented as the bad guys. I mean, it sure looks like it, since they are The Empire and all that. Kind of sucks, though, since we all know how it ended. I hate stories that don't end well.

If Nintendo are the bad guys, it's curious how, actually, most of the characters featured so far belong to them. Heroes and/or their allies or at least neutrals always tend to take most of almost all series' casts.

This anime's gonna have a hard fight against Neptunia.

Too bad I can't. I should really get on that Oxford Beginner's Course that I still have lying around here.

At least after a bit of trial-and-error, I could see some pages. I'd say it looks quite all right for a webcomic, though the author seems to have a rather conservative taste in panels.

Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up here. It will probably spawn a meme or two, and I'll certainly watch the first episode (at least now people seem to be aware of it), but I'll be genuinely surprised if it turns out to be a good piece of fiction, rather than a big nerdy in-joke.

they should make an anime where the anthropomorfications of these series should duke it out. META!

It's because they're the underdog here having "lost" the console war. Of course the underdog is going to be the hero. Might be some nostalgia in there too.

So having read a bit of the manga on that site, it seems like it...tries to play itself totally straight. There's Shounen fights, extreme violence and murder (the guy who's Tails gets killed in the first chapter), and even the threat of rape in parts. Seems almost mean-spirited.

If the companies weren't involved with the manga, hopefully they are with the show, because that would be awful if adapted fully.

My first reaction was "be still my beating heart~!" because something based off of the Nintendo/Sega console wars, with the characters being representative and stuff, sounded [i]awesome[/i].

But, after reading a bit further, I've got mixed feelings... and, if the companies weren't involved then...ugh...that just really kind of shys me away from it...

and, honestly, I don't really care for mean-spirited media but, hey, it's just me, YMMV

I imagine even if they're not it will have some revision done to it. Lighter and Softer happens for a reason, after all.

At the very least you can watch knowing the artists didn't do porn before...or at least not as much.

This could end up being the most awesome thing ever. But it could also be a colossal disappointment. I'm hoping for the former.

I'd can't believe I didn't hear about this sooner. I'll be anticipating this and waiting for them to be translated.

Uh, hate to break it to you guys but this is only going to be three episodes. They're only going to release one episode a SEASON. It's up on the site if you want to confirm. The dates seem to be: October 20th, New Year and then Spring of next year.

Wow, really? Because there're a darned lot of chapters here to be fit into three regular-length episodes. I guess it's going to be an Adaptation Distillation at most, then.
