Interest. However, RPing the Doctor, unless he's a GMPC, is usually a messnote . A large part of the character is him knowing a lot of stuff about a lot of things, and it's very hard to RP that. Also, the sonic screwdriver is pure Handwavium.

The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the groundI was thinking more about having it go "The Ten Doctors" (fan comic) style. The thing there is that it used stuff that had already appeared on the show before, so the whole "the Doctor knows everything" problem wouldn't appear- well, at least that's how I see it.
We need more people to comment on this idea.
While a Who RP could be a pretty interesting thing, I too do not think that R Ping The Doctor would turn out well. For the previously stated reasons.
I'd be down for a Doctor Who game, if the logistics and whatnot were worked out right. I do imagine R Ping The Doctor would be hard as said before though...
"Who am I, Elisha Otis?"On another forum I did attempt to set up a Doctor Who RP, it seems, and I attempted something kind of unconventional: I designed it as a 'series' of R Ps made up of about ten or so relatively short RP 'episodes'.
It was paced like a series of the modern reboot - you'd have a small group of 'regulars' who would play major reoccurring characters (The Doctor, two companions, a reoccurring wild-card character and the main antagonist (who would be a kind of 'second GM' and would collaborate with the villains of each episode)) that showed up in every episode (obviously, a lot of commitment was needed)...
...and then other players could sign up for individual episodes as 'auxiliaries', playing major one-off characters (such as the Cyber Commander in an episode with the Cyber-men, or Charles Dickens in that Eccelston episode with the dimension ghosts etc.)
The idea was each episode was mostly independent of the others, but the villain or wild-card regulars would collaborate with the auxiliaries to get a kind of 'reoccuring theme/motif' throughout the series (like Bad Wolf or Torchwood) that culminated in the 'final episode' being this big epic season finale type thing.
...
That idea probably kind of sucks and/or is unoriginal. -shrug-

You know, that doesn't sound that bad. With a few adjustments, it could be a great RP. And there's people interested, so... I'll work on it.
That idea sounds wicked awesome. I think it could really work as "episodes". Calling a possible companion role~

"Who am I, Elisha Otis?"Oh, glad to hear you guys enjoy the sound of that. I could assist, perhaps, but there's a lot of stuff going on, so, eh, I may or may not. -shrug-
No, digging out my UNIT OC isn't allowed in part because no-one wants to see me playing another Self-Insert.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Aww but UNIT is cool!
"Who am I, Elisha Otis?"Then again I might do a bit of retconning for him in a few places, mostly because I'm not that much of a fan of the new series UNIT look over the old one.
Meaning if I do go through with it I'm going back to the "British / [Insert Nationality Here] combat uniform with UNIT insignia" rather than the "Black with RMP beret and UNIT Insignia" look.
Plus he doesn't really have a backstory beyond being stationed in Japan to facilitate the crossover he was written for originally.

"Yup. That tasted purple."I haven't watched the old series admittedly — I've been meaning to get on that. D:
"Who am I, Elisha Otis?"Right-o, so here's how things would work, based on the idea Eventua shared with us. It's following the same format as episodes, with thirteen episodes making a season.
The Doctor will be controlled by me (which incarnation, well, I don't know, probably the Eleventh Doctor during those years between him leaving the Ponds and his "death". ), and two players would play two regular companion characters- and only that. All the other players would play as one-off characters (like Charles Dickens in the Unquiet Dead or Vincent Van Gogh in Vincent and the Doctor) and have a recurring companion character (like River Song and Jack Harkness) that would appear here and there for one or two episodes.
The idea is that before each episode, I would reveal the synopsis and say what one-off characters there would be in this episode. Then, each player would claim a character, and once that episode rolled around, they would play as said character- or play as their recurring companion character. Does that seem interesting to you guys?

Sounds good.
*goes back to researching background*
"Yup. That tasted purple."Sounds good! I might well join this, me thinks, as an 'auxiliary player' or whatever.
I might suggest that the Doctor, alternatively to being a specific Doctor, instead we set it at some unspecified point in the future with a new Doctor, perhaps?
I dunno though, it's your RP, up to you.
Also, would there be a 'series long theme/motif' like on the actual program?
Of course it'll have story arcs.
I like the idea of making it a different Doctor.

Yes, that does sound good. Playing a companion would be nice, although that's most probably not going to happen in my case.
Oh giggity, I'll be joining this then, methinks!
Hmm... I thought of a possible reoccuring character (though not a companion): namely, this creepy guy who travels through Space and Time in order to stalk the Doctor and fight evil.
Essentially, a Doctor fanboy/imitator...! :D
The idea of the Doctor being a 12th Doctor sounds even more interesting. I'm probably going with this◊ design: a calmer, more focused Doctor that can still be silly and is a bit too narcissistic. Probably mixing a bit of Seven and Eleven. Heh. Seven Eleven.
Or a more adventurous Doctor (probably based on this design) who thinks he can pick up girls with the snap of his fingers. I'll have to think about it.

Will there be sign-up sheets made available, or, um...?
Oh yes, I'm working on that, give me a moment.
How will it work on the limited roles? Timing is kind of annoying, especially if somebody gets ninja'd writing a profile.
The best two get chosen as the regular companions. The other can use the sheets for the recurring companions.
Thread will be up soon.
Oh man I'm so ready for this! :D
"Who am I, Elisha Otis?"
Hooray for another idea that might not leave the drawing board!
Basically, this would be a Doctor Who RP. I'm not sure if we'll follow the system established by the Doctor Who Roleplaying Game - Adventures in Space and Time (seeing as I haven't read it yet) but here's how I want it to go.
Each player gets to play one of the eleven Doctors and a companion of the Doctor they chose, in an original adventure against an original enemy (although this doesn't mean familiar faces and past enemies wouldn't appear). Or each player would play one of the eleven Doctors as they travel together through different worlds, having different adventures. The problem with these ideas? It needs 8-10 players, and realistically thinking, I don't think a lot of people would be interested in a Doctor Who RP.
So, are you interested? If the answer is yes, then please, share your ideas with me. Let's build a RP that captures the feeling of the show, so we can have some fun with our favorite time-travelling alien.
