Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan (Manga Discussion)

I usually avoid semantic arguments but I'm still pissed about episode 19 and thus am feeling more argumentative than usual.

They're on a continent called Titan and thus they are all Titans.

Of course...

I feel you. It's all those close ups and flashbacks, right? Or is it the constant inner monologues?

I'm not watching it until next week's episode comes out so I can hopefully avoid the bitterness.

Then, I'd recommend waiting until next next week for episode 21.

Both 19 (last week) and 20 (this week) was apparently 100% outsourced to another studio.

T_T My expectations are currently so low that I may not be able to get myself to watch the live stream this week.

Not really.

While I think the whole wank is silly, I do enjoy how at least in the anime we have some non-standard appearances in terms of the rich variety of facial features and skin tones.

Bert's a tricky one, I think, since he's....not dark per say, but definitely stands out when he's hanging around his White as the Driven Snow buddies. I can't decide if it's intentional nods to the difference between Northern Europeans and...say...Southern and Western Europeans. Or if it's just "hey, let's make these characters have a tan".

Or Isayama just doesn't care about the whole gender/ethnicity thing.

Mmm. If he cared about that sort of thing, Mikasa would have a noticeable different skin tone.

Because, y'know, she's the one who's explicitly of non-caucasian decent.

I vote Isayama does not care, and feeds on our confusion.

I think that the mangaka at least wants to make sure that people don't forget that Mikasa does have abs and that noses must look like noses.
