Persona: Fractured Dreams

Hayley Proctor - Still inside the church

Once she was sure that the coast was clear, Hayley emerged from her hiding space and into the now empty room. She moved swiftly as she could and pushed the door open, peeking outside. She managed to see three people get into a car and drive off while a green-haired girl ran off in the other direction.

Hayley chose to ignore Reiki for now and focus on the car. "If I heard right, they're headed to the hospital." she thought as she exited the church, making he'd way towards the hospital as fast as her legs would carry her.

Allistair

"Don't you worry. I'm pretty sensitive for such things." He finished loading Striker's chamber and hid it under trenchcoat again. "May come in handy as a finishing touch if Persona wouldn't be enough. Shadows are as bulletproof as normal humans are." Richardson looked outside, having nothing else to do at the moment.

Tommy-behnd the church

Underneath the shade of a tree slept a skinny white haired boy anbout the age of twenty. Though you probably couldn't tell though his rather feminine features. He stirred and sat up

"Ugh. What happened last night? Ah right...the mon...ster..."

He though for a minute he was certain he saw some kind pf monster last night on his way to the night club.

"Nah must have been a nightmare."

He got up and walked around to the front of the church.

Dan flinched when Allistair called out to him, but nevertheless turned and gave a nervous wave and smile to the just older boy. It was that turn that made Dan realize that not only had Jon definitely spotting him, but was now descending right upon him with a smile that immediately reminded Dan of a man that would say 'man, have I got a deal for you!'

Jon explained that he had apparently been up to illicit activity within the old church, which of course made Dan nearly turn red; not really in anger, but more like embarrassment. Jon then went over to talk quietly to Allistair, and more people emerged from the church. The first person Dan saw was Reiki, a girl he knew by name but didn't really know anything about. What Jon had just told Dan, along with her being the first person coming out did not bode well for the mental images Dan's brain started to make.

But then, more people emerged including... Miss Mason? All the weird thoughts in Dan's mind before were immediately replaced by pure confusion. Jon Archwood saying he was up to some kinky things was one thing, but Dan couldn't imagine a teacher, especially the seemingly cold Miss Mason, being involved in it. Now, Dan was notoriously easy to play tricks on, but even he realized at this point that Jon had just been screwing with him.

The group was discussing something across the street from Dan, so he couldn't make out what they were saying. Approaching to overhear seemed too intrusive, so Dan waited in confusion as most of them piled into a car and drove off, except for Reiki who went running off in the direction that Jon had gone. Then, some lady Dan didn't recognize at all came out of the church and went running off after the car, making Dan even more confused. Then, finally, some young man came walking around the church, looking like he might've been lost.

Finally having enough of just standing there in bewilderment, Dan approached the young man and cleared his throat. "Um, were you with the people who just left?" Dan asked, wanting desperately to just not be so confused about what was going on here.

"Oh hello there. I'm Tommy."

He introduced himself to Dan.

"I'm sorry, but I the last thing I remember is waking up under the tree over there."

He pointed to the tree he had woken up under recently. This was a pretty typical situation for Tommy as of late.

"Oh" Dan muttered disappointingly; it seemed like Dan wouldn't be getting any answers about what was going on from Tommy. "Well, I'm Dan, and... Wait, why were you sleeping under a tree?" he added, confused again.

Tommy gave a shrug.

"Don't know. Sorry."

Suddenly he remembered his "dream". He was about to disregard it but something compelled him to ask.

"Say wouldn't happen to have seen any monsters recently? Have you?"

Alex- E.R. Waiting Room

Alex held his head in his hands, trying to keep himself together. He had been called out of school early that day, because his mom had apparently overdosed and had to be rushed to the hospital. He gripped his father's scarf, that he always wore, and let out a pained sigh. Alex didn't know what was worse, the fact that this was really happening, or the fact that this wasn't the first time it has happened. Alex heard a few of the nurses talking about a fifth coma patient being in the hospital. He had heard about the comas around school, but wasn't all to interested in it until he heard that there was no scientific explanation behind them. It was around that point that he had become curios about them. He would have been able to do some actual research on one of the school computers, but it was around that point that he was called to the office and given the bad news about his mom.

An hour passed before a doctor came out to see him. The middle-aged man told Alex that his mother had stabilized, finally, but they would have to keep her over night for examination. Then he started talking about enrolling her in some sort of drug rehab. Alex really didn't pay too much attention, mostly cause he had heard it all before. Regardless, Alex put on his best fake smile and gave the man a thanks. The doctor nodded and left to attend to some business, and Alex began to head towards the nearest vending machine. He let out another sigh, because he could tell it was going to be a long night.

Dan raised an eyebrow at the oddness of Tommy's question. "Uh, no. Why do you ask?" Dan replied, really unsure what to make of this.

The question seemed insane, but Dan got an odd feeling in his chest, around where the little cross was. Instinctively, Dan reached up his hand to his chest again, half reaching, half attempting to further hide the little trinket.

After a moment, Dan wondered why he did that. He didn't know anything about this guy except his name, and wasn't even sure Tommy would care about the little necklace.

"Would you believe its because of a dream?"

Tommy smiled widely and scratched the back of his head. Then he dropped his hands, stuffing them into his coat pockets, and looked off in no particular direction.

"I guess not huh."

He looked back to Dan and smiled gently.

"We both seem pretty confused. How bout we stick together for a while? You mentioned some people?"

A dream? Dan thought for a moment. Now that Tommy mentioned it, Dan remembered having some weird dreams lately... Problem was, having the dreams was all he really remembered; he always seemed to forget the details of the dreams once he woke up.

Then Tommy suggested that they stick together and asked about the others. At first, Dan wasn't sure; going along with some stranger that you only knew the name of sounded just like the start of some kidnapping horror story. Then again, Tommy didn't really seem untrustworthy, and was asking about where other people went, rather than suggesting that Dan follow him into a dark alley or something. Plus, Dan couldn't shake this odd feeling, some compulsion to try to get to the bottom of what was going on here.

"Yeah, a few of them were from my school, including a teacher" Dan said, nodding. "They were talking about something, but I didn't hear what it was. Then they went that way" he explained, pointing down the street that the car had gone.

... Oh right, the car. "Uh, but they were in a car" Dan added, a little embarrassed. As much as he liked the idea of following after to see what was going on, he wasn't sure how they would manage to do that.

"Ah. Bummer. Wait you said they're from your school? Mabey they're some after school superhero club"

Is suddenly speaking in a mock theatrical voice.

"By day normal highscool students! By night masked heroes! Keeping the armies of the shadows at bay!"

He struck a dramatic pose hopingto get Dan to laugh.

Being one to almost constantly worry about things, Dan wasn't exactly known to be the most humorous kid in school. But still, even Dan couldn't help but smile and break into a short laugh at just how ridiculous Tommy was being. It certainly helped cement the fact in Dan's mind that Tommy probably wasn't a bad person.

As he regained his composure, Dan recalled that Jon and Reiki had actually left on foot, rather than in the car like the others. "Oh wait, a couple of them went that way, on foot" Dan said, motioning in the way the two had gone. Then he also remembered that strange lady, and figured he might as well keep filling Tommy in on what he had seen. "There was also some lady I don't know that went after the car on foot. She looked like she was in a hurry to follow them" he continued, now thinking about what to do.

The smart thing would obviously be, 'go home and leave this all alone', but again Dan just couldn't shake this odd feeling that he should know more about this.

"Now were talking!"

He considered the options for a minute for a minute no matter which way they went they would definitely find out...something. It was just a matter pf figuring out which one was easiest.

"Hm...I know."

He began pointing from one direction to the other.

"Eeny...Meny...Miny...MO!"

He stopped on the direction Jon and Reiki took off in.

"Let's get going before we lose 'em!"

Tommy started off in the chosen direction.

Dan stared at Tommy with slightly widened eyes, flabbergasted that the man had really used such a technique to decide who to follow after. It seemed like a ridiculous way to choose, but then again, it worked in its own way.

Then Dan realized that Tommy had already started running that direction. "Hey, wait for me!" Dan said, running after Tommy and keeping an eye out for Reiki and Jon.

Tommy-along the path to the hospital

"Come on keep up!"

He yelled back to Dan. Tommy rarely rushed for anything but something was urging him on. Though he didn't feel like leaving his potential new friend behind so he slowed his pace to let him catch up.

Jon, with Reiki

The hell?! Someone followed him? Her?

Oh for crying out loud! The crowds were staring at her, goddamnit she was screaming in a crowded street!

He looked at the crowds and shook his head apologetically. "Sorry, she's still upset about me dumping her.."

Then he ran towards Reiki, grabbed her hand hard and steered her to an alley, where hopefully no one would see or hear them.

"What the hell is wrong with you?! I already recruited someone into your little club didn't I? Why did you follow me?!"

Reiki

"Wait, that was you?" Reiki tilted her head to the side, smiling. She pulled herself away from Jon and took in a deep breath. "I came to tell you to help us. You won't get much accomplished by yourself." Reiki placed a hand on her hip, as if it was a force of habit.

"And we can't do much with a number down, so it's a lose-lose situation on both parts. Come back, will you?"

Tommy suddenly stops when he sees Jon pull Reki into the alley. His face hoes serious as the implication of Jon's action race through his head.

"Hey!"

He yelled out.

"Just what do you think your doing!?"

He rushed into the alleyways intent on breaking it up.

Jon, alley

He sighed. "Yes, that was me."

"...Of course I'm helping. But I'm not part of your group, let me do things my way....Anyway, what do you need?"

And then Tommy entered the scene. And for the second time today, Jon's eyes widened in shock.

".....This guy. He has the potential too? I'll let you handle this one." he whispered to Reiki.

His Persona is still sleeping.

"Hey guy! Just what are you doing dragging a girl off like that? People could get the worng idea you know."

Reiki

"I wanted to ask—" Reiki was cut off by the intrusion of Tommy. Oh boy, that was going to get them somewhere. Well, not really. Sarcasm aside, Reiki shook her head. "I was the one who chased him, and there's no implications." she scoffed at the very thought of that.

"Huh...?"

Suddenly, a blue door appeared on the side of the alley way. Was Reiki the only one that could see it? Well, that was weird. What was that place? The Velvet Room? Ah, right. The young girl walked forward, as if in a trance. Her hand touched upon the door, and suddenly, her reality shifted.

But a second later, she had returned.

"... Huh?" back in her own world, reality, Reiki looked to Jon and Tom. "Where am I again?"

Jon

"...You spaced out. We were explaining to this guy, that THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOING ON."

He smirked, back to using his public "face".

"She ain't that attractive, anyway."

Dan fell a little behind, struggling to keep up but still managing to see where Tom was going. When Tom went into an alley, Dan briefly wondered about that mental comparison/joke he made earlier, but nevertheless followed at least up to the alleyway entrance and looked inside. There he spotted Tom, Jon, and Reiki, just in time to hear Jon yell about how there was nothing going on. Right.

Dan approached as Jon continued, walking up beside Tom and glancing back and forth between Jon and Reiki, before settling on Jon. "Wouldn't that be a matter of opinion?" Dan pointed out, thinking of absolutely nothing else to say.

"Yeah she's pretty good looking at to me any way...but this is off subject. Why did you drag ber into the alley guy?"

Tommy seem to relax a bit. But was still slightly on edge.
