Honestly is it possible to actually read through Tear Jerkers?

In one sitting? I've gotten through large sections but I've never finished it it's far to depressing.

I don't think I've read long books in one sitting before, but... Probably. Depending on how sad it is.

‽‽‽‽ ^These are interrobangs. Love them. Learn them. Use them.

I think it's not so hard, since there are sometimes so ridiculous examples that I can't help but snicker a bit. xDD

@Title: Yes, easily tongue

Oh you meant works that are sad, not Tear Jerker trope pages?

...Still yes.

I've done it for the Real Life section.

The first time actually sent me into a suicidal frenzy (for lack of a better term), but the second time was much better on me.

It really depends on the troper reading them. Your personality, your own experiences, how apathetic you are, and how you handle sadness factors in greatly.

[up] The Real Life:Tear Jerkers section was bad, the now (sorta) gone Real Life:Nightmare Fuel section was worse. I say "sorta" gone because remnants of it can be found on Nightmare Fuel:Other.

The Real Life: Nightmare Fuel page nearly ruined me.

The Tearjerker's page is still pretty bad, though. I would not recommend reading it without the intention of reading Sweet Dreams Fuel afterwards.

[up]

Like I said it all depends on The Troper who reads it.

Different things affect different people differently.

I remember tear jerker trope pages being kind of... Melodramatic

Anywaay, even if there are genuinely sad things there, it doesn't make it impossible to read rest of them even if they are all actually sad.

It's next to impossible to read every entry in one sitting. You'd need an iron concentration and a steel bladder.

^^Umm... I can't really reply to that while still being polite/politeish. Not that I particularly care what people think of me anymore, but... Eh, like I said, can't reply to that.

^Its not really about crying/feeling sad as much as its about how you let it affect you in deeper level :P

I know, I was just quoting Tropers who wrote this on Tear Jerker pages. xDD

I think reading through Tear Jerker entries gets more bearable (for me) when I pay attention to how melodramatically and silly it is worded sometimes.

Oh okay.

Yeah, you are right, even if thing is actually sad, it gets hard to take seriously when they get melodramatic or say things that imply you are bad person if you disagree tongue

Okay, I started to read real life section and came back to point this one out:

" The day a beautiful aircraft died(link). And 113 human beings. "

I suppose that counts as black comedy? tongue

"The Beslan School Siege in 2004. The idea that terrorists would target a school in such a way is terrifying, and quite sad for those lost, since the age group started at about 4. The fact that the western media seems to have forgotten all about it after about 2 years is probably the worst thing at this time, however.

It was even more devestating when one of the very young children was being interviewed afterward, and told of how he was praying for Harry Potter to come and save them. "

While I understand that latter point is supposed to be about innocence of children and stuff, it fails to come as sad because of how dramatic("It was even more devastating when") as if simply presence of Harry Potter makes it sad
