Hmmm, that sure isn't a hoax at all. I wouldn't be inclined to believe this person one bit. Even if they're telling the truth, they don't have any solid proof—a photograph can easily be faked.

I don't know what I'm doing. Shut up.

I would call that suspicous. But that would be like saying that murder is not a very nice act.

Either way, Final Fantasy II (not IV) is a crap game. Not buying.

Already played the GBA remake. It's not even a good game. I mean seriously, why would anyone ever pay $50000 for a game, much less a bad one?

dunno, maybe collectors dont value their money.

...which would kinda piss me off.

Better yet, why would anyone want to start a thread about it and talk about it? Why couldn't it be posted in the Final Fantasy General thread, where it would at least have some relevence?

Why in the world would someone working for this Strategy Informer website devote their time on making an article for something like this?

A blatantly obvious scam is interesting enough to make an article about it?

Oh wait, it seems you actually fell for it. It's depressing that this doesn't even surprise.

I didn't write the article, thanks. And even if it's a scam, it's interesting.

If it's a scam, proof please.

Someone selling "the only copy" of a (bad) video game for 50000 dollars? That smells like scam to me.

And even if it isn't, who in their right minds would pay for that shit?

And if it's provenance has already been affirmed?

Has it?

Even if it has, it's still not worth 50000 dollars.

Wow guys.
We get "hey this is interesting, what do you guys all think?" threads all the time.
What's with the "This is stupid and you're stupid for bringing it here" attitude today?

My gut says unlikely.
I'm leaning toward the idea that this guy is either running a scam, or he got scammed some years ago and doesn't know it.

That said, the possibility that a sample cartridge from a scrapped game survived is intriguing. Kinda makes me wonder what happens to sample/demo carts from all the other games of the era.
