I guess it's just me being unlucky, then.

Hmm. I always get at least five gems when I play two games. :/

And holy fuck, I don't give a shit about sprouts and costumes, EA!!

Oh hod, yes. It bugs the hell out of me when the pinata treats costumes as the grand prize when I'd much rather have gems. I have seen a grand total of ONE costume I like, the 'stache for the tall-nut. All the others are boring at best.

Looking from a more positive view, getying a costume means you're eliminating the chance to get that costume in the future, thus invreasing your chance to get other rewards.

I like some of the costumes. Not all of them are great, but it's nice to have some visual variety in your plants even if you always use the same certain team.

My fave costume is the Plantern Lightning Reed. I was trying to get that one for days... managed to do it. Looks super sweet.

Yeah, gotta say that one is pretty sweet.

Played around with Endless Modes for Dark Ages and Big Wave Beach.

Huh. Octopi Zombies only throw octopus three times. And octopi can be destroyed with one round of Magnifying Grass.

Neat.

Laser bean in the column closest to home is also pretty handy when it comes to squids, as it can blast through several of them without being hindered in the zombie-slaying department. Not as quickly as Magnifying Grass, mind you, but with more collateral damage.

Phat Beet, Snapdragon, Rotobaga, Starfruit are pretty good against octopi in general.

In my personal experience, laser beans, snapdragons, etc took too long to get rid of octopi.

Octopi Zombie: Hah, now you don't scare me anymore.

Fisherman Zombie: Hmm, nothing I can't handle.

The other thing that's really annoying in BWB is Low Tide. Bucketheads popping up on the third column? Suuuure...

Today's Pinata Party:

Zombies: Basically all the Pirate level zombies except Imp Cannons and Parrot Zombies, and no Gargantuars.

Plants: Red Stinger, Electric Berry, Gravebuster, and Infinut.

Note: Starts with entire lane covered in gravestones, with only one slot in the middle slot of the leftmost lane. You get plenty of Gravebuster, though.

All in all, very easy PP.

.............and no Gems again?! This is five times in a row! WTF?!

Yeah, the PP was really easy. Although one might want to take out the gravebusters from the second column on the left, so they can put Redstingers to clear the rest of the graves. E.Blueberry should be at the far left, but since it's less common you should destroy column 2 of graves first while destroying graves in 1st column half as often.

I haven't really play Plants Vs. Zombie 2 for a long time now. I stopped playing PvZ2 after I tried to update that damn game only for it to never work until I was forced to uninstall it. Or that I got bored. It also has to do with the fact that it's yet another Allegedly Free Game and it's by EA.

The animation look great though.

[up]Were you playing it on Android? It's much better now. Before certain updates it was as buggy as heck, it regularly crashed on me. Now it no longer crashes.

Random thought.

In Temple of Bloom, Spikerock is a great counter against Imp Porters, Parasol Zombies, and Skull Laser Zombies. That is, when Gargantuars and Shovel Zombies are not around.

Yep, Spikerocks are great in LC if no shovels/gargs.

Would also have been great in NMT if not for Arcade Zombie.

Thing is that from FBC onwards, there's a non-garg zombie that counters spikes. FBC = Troglobite, LC = Excavator, NMT = Arcade.

Anyway, today's Pinata Party:

Plants: Celery Stalker (LOTS of them), Wall-Nut, Spring Bean

Zombies: Swashbuckler (LOTS of them), Prospector, Explorer, Turquoise Skull.

Flower line is in the middle of column 4.

This one requires good timing of planting the stalkers on column 6 to counter the swashbucklers. Get a column of wall-nuts on column 4 to prevent the zombies from getting there. You need stalkers on column 5 too to kill the prospectors eating the nuts from behind. When an Explorer appears, use Spring Bean to delay him or quickly plant a Stalker behind. As for the Skulls, you have to make sure they fire early (or stalker them when they get to the second last column) so they don't kill your Wall-Nuts and let the zombies through.

Gdi is it hard. You don't get Celeries fast enough to set up your defenses against Swashbucklers and Prospectors. Biggest threat is definitely the Explorers, who can, and will burn through your plants.

Have to restart like 10 times, and at the end I resorted to powerups.

ironcommando smol aberration from Somewhere in space Since: May, 2009 Relationship Status: Abstaining
#220: Oct 11th 2015 at 5:19:48 AM

I managed to do it twice, once required powerups, the second without.

A lot of it depends on whether they give you an early Explorer. That can throw things off balance quickly. Also depends on getting a good amount of celery to replace any killed by explorer/skull.

Spring Beans are there to push the explorers back so they don't ever get near your plants. Should be placed on columns 7-8.

Aren't rails levels supposed to give you a fixed lineup of zombies?

Been trying out a couple of survival levels. I quite like the Gold Leaf in Temple of Bloom, it lets me make up for having no room for more than one column of sunflowers by getting gold from many rows, if I use PF to reset the timer (perhaps it's rare in the late waves, but this early on I get far much more than I need).

I don't think I'm going to try the ice age survival, though. Plants freeze way too quickly in the game, and all I have to counter it is a hot potato? Even snapdragons can't melt these things fast enough, and they're vulnerable to freezing themselves.

[up][up]I remember that. That's the reason why I'm hesitant to use Spikerocks there despite them being supereffective against weasels. Stupid winds freeze all of 'em over in one shot.

So, a five flag survival level where the bottom two rows will freeze over in pretty much no time at all, with no thermal plants, and only the Phat Beets and Snapdragons available for attacking multiple rows?

I know it sounds like BS, but it's actually...

... actually, yes. It's total BS that I have to deal with this. The only saving grace is that it showered me with plant food, and the final wave had zero winds, so I had 3 in stock by the end of it. Still. Either they should tone done the wind in this mode by a LOT, or make freeze immune plants far more likely to turn up.

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.
