I was way off. I can sort of see it if I squint now that I know what it is, though.
I don't think there's much misuse (didn't find any), but that's probably more due to the trope being somewhat specific and the name being far less so to the point where there's not even a connection, and just a cursory glance at the page would tell you as much.
You could maybe argue that it's underused, but I don't see this as particularly common. Could use more crosswicking, though.
So, I think a rename would be a good idea for the reason that misuse is practically impossible because it's too much off. It's not even ambiguous.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI would have guessed something to do with the clergy.
I couldn't have guessed this in a million years. I'm all for a rename.
Is there a supertrope for learning to do things in general with newly-grown limbs? Because this seems awfully specific, and I can think of several examples that would fit in a supertrope, but don't go here. And I'm not sure how distinct this really is from the hypothetical supertrope.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Clocking.

OK, maybe I'm not quite up on my euphemisms, but try playing Guess That Trope given the title.
It's about engaging in masturbation after getting a new hand. No, really.
Did you get that? Because I sure didn't.
