William noticed a girl looking at him dead in the eye and asking him if he is new to Digimon. "Yeah... I'm new..." William hung his head in shame, thinking that he just made a fool out of himself. He even blushed a bit. She then asked him to see his Digimon. William gulped.

"Okay then." he muttered out. He then reluctantly handed her his Digivice. Welp, he was caught, and he didn't even have to say anything. However, it seemed to him that Rue would be one of the last people here he'd expect hurting or bullying him. Much like Silas, he grew a little more secure to her because of that fact. If she could notice it, when he was giving her the Digivice, his hand was shaky, but after a single moment, he handed it to her normally.

Maybe I should have taken it a bit slower. Rue thought. Poor William is like a rabbit. Scared of sudden movements. Wonder what causes him to act like this. She took the digivice respectfully eyeing the display. A kind of fitting choice for a quiet kid, but on the more obscure side. I'd guess that a lot of casual fans wouldn't get this one. "This is a Kotemon." Rue explained cheerfully. "It's an odd Digimon really. Part reptilian, part mechanical, and rather quiet. It fights using Kendo... The Japanese version of, what was it again? Oh yeah... Fencing." she explained. "Hope that's of some help to you." she said as she handed the digivice back to him. "I just want to help Mr. William. That's all I really want..." she said quietly.

She looked down into her own display. Tapirmon worked for her because it was a protective creature which defended others from nightmares. It was tied to her via her own history with tapirs and baku. She wondered if William had a connect to Kotemon in particular in a similar way. Perhaps having to do with the personallity tests mentioned earlier. She realized she'd become lost in thought. "Sorry. Out of a sense of fairness... If you want you can see my digivice if you want I mean." she said quietly.

"Th-thanks..." William warmly smiled. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe this experience will be a pleasant one. The people he's talked to so far were pretty friendly, and the girl was even wanting to help him learn what is pretty much a foreign topic to him. Looking at the Digimon with the idea in mind, he wondered how it matched him in terms of personality. Well, the Kotemon does seem to hide behind the mask, so maybe it was based off his introversion. He wasn't sure where the kendoing came in, though he could figure that out later. She then asked him if he wants to see her Digimon.

"Erm... Sure." William said. He then went to see her Digivice, seeing a tapir wire frame. "Oh, a tapir!" William said, looking at it. His tone was now in normal volume as opposed to his muttering.

Joel shimmied up the chair, getting his head partway into the dome as per Adam's instructions. He could only wonder what the man had meant by 'disruptive consequences. Sounded a little ominous, really. But hey, he was just glad to be here. He was starting to sound like Eric, anyway. Weird guy, now that he thought about it. Best to avoid him when he could, no sense in feeling even more awkward about this.

The countdown began, colored numbers ticking down before his eyes. Steadily, he grew more tense, gloved fingers tightening into fists. A wide, almost malicious grin spread across his face. "Let the games begin." He muttered to himself as the countdown neared zero. Or he would have, if the sudden bright flash hadn't cut him off. Goddamn, the second time today. Almost instinctively, he screwed his eyes shut, waiting for the pain to fade.

Eventually, it did, and when he finally opened his eyes he saw something he never thought he'd see. It looked like they'd been thrown headfirst into the opening of The Matrix, a comparison which had likely already been made but damn if the resemblance wasn't uncanny. The weird text was new, though. So this was virtual reality, the young New Yorker pondered. He had to admit, it looked much more impressive than he'd imagined. And if Mister Weiss was to be believed, this wasn't even the whole game yet. Figured. This whole thing was starting to seem like less of a game and more of a chore.

He took another glance around the area and letting out a half-mumbled "Trippy." before turning his attention back to Adam. So far, he'd only been partly paying attention. He'd almost barely noticed the little plastic device the game had conjured up for him, a glossy black thing with bright bronze trim and a gold strap. Fancy. He liked it. If he'd heard Adam right, this was meant to be their most important tool. Inventory, instant messaging, enemy scanning, everything they'd need in a convenient package. Seemed like the others were checking out their new Digimon, though he wasn't quite sure how. This thing was like a Rubik's cube to him.

Okay, maybe that wasn't the best of analogies, but it was confusing all the same. On a whim, he prodded a button. The screen lit up, displaying some kind of weird wireframe monster. He couldn't make out anything specific, though there was the slightest hint of wings there. Looked more like a rolly-polly blob than anything else. Or maybe his eyesight was just that bad. The text that filled the digivice's tiny screen wasn't much help either.

Yeah, that was a real infodump, right there. He might've knew what it meant if he knew a bit more about the franchise, but he hadn't, so he didn't. Maybe one of the others could help with identifying this thing, if not contextualizing all those words. That Rue girl, the Japanese one with the blonde hair, seemed to know what was up. Looked like she was helping one of the other players out, that Canadian kid who looked like he was ready to leap out of his chair and run for the hills.

He turned towards them, sitting up slightly. "Hey, I'm not exactly a veteran at this either pal, but you don't see me sweatin' bullets." He cleared his throat, holding up his digivice for Rue to see. "Anyhow, you mind helping me out over here too? Not really sure what this thing's supposed to be either."

"Yes." she said happily to William. "There are lots of legends about tapirs in Japan, they're considered more monstrous creatures that eat dreams. But I've always been fond of them. Used to sleep with a tapir stuffed animal." Rue wouldn't confess that she STILL slept with that same plushie, but what she said was technically true. "It's a Holy Digimon though, as far as the game's ranking system goes. And Vaccine type digimon tend to be more on the good guy side in this franchise." she said, unaware that she was going into rambling mode. She stopped for a second long enough to here Mr. Joel's query.

Haruka looked at the screen and chuckled. "That would be a Demi-Devimon. It's an dark digimon, but I always found it a little cute and felt kind of sorry for it. It's rookie level, but even for that level its attacks aren't very strong, he's got a dart and the rest are kind of basic. I wouldn't worry about getting a darker Digimon. I always was fond of playing with Lopmon and Wizardmon, which are both Dark Digimon."

Haruka hoped that Joell would take his Digimon well. He wasn't the only one with a dark type Digimon most likely. There were six classes of Digimon so odds are some of the others had Digimon of that type. Besides Dark Is Not Evil neccesarily. She hoped Joell would understand that. It wasn't a strong Digimon, but Haruka had always found Demi-Devimon cute so it wasn't all terrible.

Noticing that they could walk around freely, Ayako walked over to Haruka and the others with a big smile on her face. However, another noticeable change had happened without Ayako's knowledge. When she spoke, her accent was mostly gone and she spoke clear and much more understandable English.

"Hey, what did you get? I got Renamon!"

Shai twirled a little in place, even though there was no need for it. It was fun, neh? She slid her Digivice into her breast pocket.
"I got Lunamon," she told Ayako. "I think it's Lunamon, at least; it looks like a rabbit, has four ears, and wears a dress. Renamon's a swell Digimon; congrats. Also, did you notice that your accent's gone?"
She twirled again.

"Has to be."

Lucas walked over to Shai and Ayako.

"If I had to guess, I'd say its because of muscle memory. Your body is used to speaking a certain way, so you have an accent when you speak. We aren't speaking with our body, so your mouth muscles don't get in the way of what you wanna say. I wouldn't be surprised if people with disabilities, like partial paralysis for instance, wont have them here."

Lucas paused for a second before holding his digivice out toward the others.

"Impmon."

"Huh... interesting..." William said when Rue talked about the story behind Tapirs and when she talked about DemiDevimon . He smiled, at least there was someone to show him the ropes in this thing, especially since she called it a franchise. At some point he had to ask her what an Anime was. He then noticed how Rue said that Vaccines were like good guys. "So... What are Data Digimon?" William asked Rue, looking curiously at the text in Kotemon's bio.

"But..." Eric spun round on his chair to face the conversation, "That would mean they're reading our minds to hear what we want to say, rather than just playing back what we actually say in the 'real world'. I wonder if that means languages get translated as well...?"

He looked over towards Lucas. "I got Veemon. Also, does anyone else have these holes in theirs? Or a mono-colour one, for that matter?"

Half a twirl, and Shai was facing William.
"It's a bit like rock-paper-scissors," she said. "Vaccine beats Virus, which beats Data, which beats Vaccine. But, if what I read was right, it does not affect the Digimon overmuch. If, say, an Antylamon, which is Data, fights a Guilmon, which is Virus, the Antylamon will usually beat the Guilmon, because it's of a higher evolution."
Three quarters of a spin, toward Lucas.
"Impmon? Hoo, boy. I hope it won't be like the Impmon in Tamers. Because if it will, your life will suck, badly."

William looked as the crazy spinning girl was also helping him out. He was happy that he was receiving some sort of tutorial on how Digimon work. Though it seems that every time he got an answer, another question sprung up from his mind.

"Uh... I'm sorry... Evolutions?" William asked. Though it was a pretty stupid question in hindsight. The tyrannosaurus would probably be a very high tier Digimon considering its size, a tier so high that the creators wouldn't wish to give as a starter. There was also the information saying that Kotemon and Tapirmon were both children. However, he wished for an explanation.

May made her way over to the others pausing to answer William's question. "Higher levels. Though I prefer the English terms of Digivolutions." A pause as she let her words sink in. " Each is higher than the other going in order. Roughly translates into Fresh, In-training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate and Mega. We're starting out with Rookies from the looks of things." She leaned forward ignoring his personal space as she finished off. "Though I can't honestly say I wanted this particular partner."

"My accent also seems to be gone." said Haruka. "Hmm... Wonder why that happened? It's odd..." she looked at Eric's digivice and compared it to her own. "No Eric. There aren't any grooves in mine, and as I recall not in any of the others. It seems that you're the odd one out... Sorry..." she said. Haruka was very familiar with being the odd one out. She stood out due to her background and her albinism, generally people ignored her or treated her as some kind of joke. Haruka decided to embrace being different for a time but...

She decided that she wouldn't dwell on that. Not with some potential new friends to help! People were generally appreciative of her advice and she was very happy to help them understand what was going on. She turned to May. "What Digimon did you get again? There's a bright side to everything. I'm sure your Digimon can be cool too!" she said.

Boy, I sure do hope the public version isn't like this. Feels like at some kinda optimologist appointment.

Alistair obediently stared at the numbers, eyes beginning to water, which only worsened with the white glare.

Then... —

"It WORKED!"

— A whole new environment opened up before him, of glowing wires and numbers. The Southerner found his eyes darting all over, trying to catch every detail, but there was just too much. When that familiar shape, unmistakably a Digivice, materialised in front of him, Alistair made a grab for it, eyes wide as plates. There it was, deep red plastic front plating and strap, with dusk gray back plating and buttons, screen lit and mechanisms humming. Numbly,he gave one of the buttons a random poke, resulting in a projected hologram of words and a strange, unmistakably bat-winged shape. He looked through the words for a clue as to the identity of the shape:

Shoot, all this tells me is that I might be getting a Mean little cuss. Well... SO WHAT! I get to control a baddie! This calls for something.

"Hehehheheh... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAH! Yes!"

— He heard the others speak, grinning wider and wider as many of them rattled off their 'Mons. Aha! So my "kin" over there has a flyer too. I wonder if they do aerial battles in this game...

He blinked, hard, at a trio of feminine voices speaking with Japanese accents... with nary a thing getting in the way of their words. As if he couldn't smile any wider. —

"Yep, that's you, Ayako. Mighteh fine softwehre if Ah do say so mahself. You sound great."

DemiDevimon, eh? Didn't exaclty sound like his kind of deal, but he could roll with it. He wasn't really expecting a powerhouse right off the bat anyway. He just hoped this thing wouldn't get on his nerves. Something with the title of "Little Devil" seemed like it'd take that sort of attitude. Really, he had to wonder just what answers he'd given on the quiz to get this sort of result. For the most part, he'd been selecting random answers, not really paying much attention to the results.

Well, at the very least it sounded like his little monster wouldn't stay that way for long. Good to have someone around to explain the game mechanics, even if it wasn't to him directly. He'd seen that Digivolution thing in action, and it looked promising to say the least. He doubted he'd get a crazy T-rex monster, but something of equal value would be fine by him. That whole type advantage thing sounded like it'd be pretty useful too. Not that he'd get much mileage out of it, from the sound of things. Attributes rarely factored in to actual battles, from what he could gather.

Joel looked around at the other testers. Christ on a bike, only about a minute into the game and they were already back to yammering on. At least this time it was about something mildly interesting. Looked like the game came with its own little translator. He had to admit, that was a bit of a relief. He didn't know how long he could listen to Ayako's horribly garbled squeeling. She was still kind of annoying, but a more tolerable kind of annoying. The kind he could easily ignore if need be. The same couldn't be said for Shai, who was already back to spinning around like a human Tilt-A-Whirl. He let out a small chuckle at the sight. Shai may have been a giant weirdo, but she was amusing to watch. For now, anyway.

He didn't bother getting out of his chair just yet. He'd do it when he was prompted, and not a moment sooner. Needed some more time to rest his legs, the walk up the stairs had been murder. He turned to face Alistair, a slight smirk painted across his face. "Wish I could say the same for you there, Gomer. Don't you know it's rude to talk with your mouth full?" He said, jokingly. Well, he hoped Al would take it as a joke. Guy looked like he could tear a phonebook in half if he had the inclination. Why Joel felt the need to notice this several times today, he had no idea.

Shizuko nodded slightly to Silas when he said that the others were probably blowing things out of proportions. She knew that it was probably just paranoia, and-

Then she heard Weiss. The preparations were ready and it was time to head in. As she quietly followed the group (she was probably the last in), she took a moment to think about what was going on. Testing the best gaming technology known to date? This was a huge honor, and she knew that, though she’d never vocalize it, she was probably more excited than anyone… Well, maybe, considering earlier events. Seeing the chairs, as well as the gloves and goggles, she got ready just as everyone else did before her. Sitting in the chair, she had to admit, this was… different than anything she had experienced before. But that made sense, since this was brand new tech they were dealing with… She did as she was told and stared at the numbers. This was VERY exciting now, as the final seconds ticked down. Then the flash… and the dome disappeared. The new environment surrounded her, and Shizuko felt herself tense up. This. Was. Incredible. Then she saw something form in front of her… She grabbed it, and looked at it for a little bit. It was mostly silver (the front and strap were), but the buttons and back plating were blue. The screen was lit, and she could hear a slight noise, not uncommon to electronic objects, coming from it. Giving one of the buttons a poke, a wire frame hologram appeared, along with a bit of information on what it was a hologram of.

NAME: ????

OWNER: Shizuko Tanaka

EXP LEVEL: 01

EVO LEVEL: Rookie

ATT: Vaccine

TYPE: Reptile

FAMILY: VB

TECHNIQUES: ????

Now, Shizuko was lost. She had no idea what Digimon that was. She had entered that contest to win a chance to test the MMO, but… she didn’t exactly know… much about the show. The only reason she knew that big hologram they had seen was a Geo Greymon was because of a very loud shout she had heard. She did enough research as to know what it was, but… not enough to know what species that wire-frame hologram was supposed to be of. Next time, watch the show the game is based on before you jump into the beta test… because this is a bit embarrassing, especially if that's a well known Digimon, like I suspect it is... I saw it when I looked it up online... Oh, what was the name...?

Haruka looked around and saw another newbie in need to help. She decided to aid her fellow tester once again. "Hello." Rue said. "You're Shizuko, right?" she said noting how unconventional that name was for a foreigner. "You look like you're also new to this series. I can help you identify the new Digimon as I did for the other players. I hope I'm not intruding, but I like to help those who are lost." she said.

She hoped she could do this without getting a reputation as a know-it-all or an otaku. A lot of people in her school found her brand of helpfulness condescending or annoying. It also didn't help that she previously had issues with being too vocal with her opinions. Keep it cool Rue. Just don't be too eager or anything.

Shizuko looked over at the girl and nodded. She showed the wire frame hologram to Haruka, hoping for an answer. She found it embarrassing that this girl she didn't even know could easily pick up on her trouble, but then again, some people were just like that. “Different, you say?” Mr. Weiss’ voice sounded perplexed to Silas’ ears, and when the British businessman next spoke he seemed to be talking to himself more than anything. “Strange…this isn’t the coding I wrote. What were you doing in here, Midori?

For a moment, their slick-haired guide was silent. “It’s nothing to worry about, Mister Jones,” he said at length, though to Olivia it seemed as though the man was not as sure as he proclaimed. “Come; now that you’ve familiarized yourselves with your Digivices, it’s time for you to dive in properly.”

As he said these words, another wireframe construct took shape just beyond the ring of chairs; it was far larger than the Digivices, larger even than the players themselves, and as it gradually filled itself in with substance, colour and detail Silas saw that it was a large wooden door. Made of what looked like mahogany, detailed with lines of silver and gold and inscribed with sigils from that strange Digital alphabet, it stood there of its own accord on the floor, attached to no wall and supported by no frame. A broad, rectangular text box formed over the door, and as Weiss continued speaking once more it began to fill up with names.

“Would the following people approach the gateway: Macleod, Alistair; Magnusson, Joel; Stein, Lucas; Takahashi, Ayako; and Tantalos, Olivia. We’ll be sending you in in small groups rather than all at once, so that you don’t put too much strain on the servers.”

Shrugging, Olivia pocketed her Digivice and walked up to the door. She could find out what her partner was supposed to be on the other side, she supposed, though what little she saw painted a picture she did not like; whatever her partner was supposed to be, its defensive stats were through the roof but just about everything else was as low as possible. Obviously this thing was meant to take a ridiculous amount of punishment at the cost of dealing pitiful damage and having the speed and agility of a brick; a perfect build for a Tank, but the blonde college student didn’t play Tanks—she much preferred to dish out beatings rather than take them. Hopefully it would be able to digivolve into something better suited to her aggressive play style; otherwise, this was going to be a long day.

Once Olivia and the other four players had assembled themselves before the door, it split open right down the middle and swung out in two halves; beyond it was a shining white void that wasn’t as intense as the light which had nearly blinded them as they entered this virtual reality, but it was still bright enough to make the androgynous young woman’s eyes water from looking at it.

“Step inside,” Mr. Weiss instructed. “Be advised, however—you’ve been shielded from most of the sensory input in this tutorial section, but now you’ll be getting it in full force. There might be some momentary discomfort.”

“Well, that’s comforting,” Olivia muttered sarcastically. Nevertheless, she stepped through the door and walked into the light; after five paces or so the young woman came to a halt, seeing that nothing was apparently happening, and turned around. Her eyebrows shot up as she saw that she had come farther than she’d expected; the portal looked as though it was at least twenty feet away, and even though she wasn’t moving at all it seemed to be growing smaller and smaller by the second—as if it were retreating into the distance.

Then the door vanished altogether, and Olivia hissed as a sudden, searing pain erupted at the tips of her fingers and toes. Momentary discomfort, her ass—it felt like her hands and feet were on fire!

This pain quickly began to spread, migrating from her digits to the rest of her hands and feet, and the androgynous young woman glanced down at them in alarm. What she saw there made her eyes go wide with shock and confusion—her limbs, for no readily apparent reason, were disintegrating into tiny little motes of light and packets of flickering data.

“What is this?!” she cried, barely noticing that her words sounded garbled and laden with crackling interference. No answer came, and she could do little more than stare in horror as her body continued its agonizing fragmentation. Mercifully, by the time everything below her knees and elbows had faded away the pain grew too great to withstand, and Olivia’s mind sank into oblivion.

Somewhere else entirely, a childlike figure drifted within a void of absolute darkness. Curled up in a foetal ball and wrapped in a cocoon formed by twelve angelic wings, it slept fitfully, locked in dreams the likes of which men are not meant to know; its body was perfectly still, absent of any twitches and motions that most dreamers would experience, and even the regular rise and fall of its chest was markedly absent. This was hardly surprising, however; after, what need did a being composed of living information have for oxygen, especially in a place like this?

How long it had lain here, the figure could not say; time had lost all meaning once it had entered this deep slumber. All its dreaming mind knew for certain was that the circumstances in which it had gone to sleep this time had been less than optimal. Limbs ached with the painful echoes of wounds long since healed, and scattered memories of the glorious and terrible battles of the last cycle drifted through its mind in a chaotic and disorganized fashion. Allies and enemies both had been dealt grievous blows, and for some the damage had been so extensive that they would not recover for countless hours; these unfortunates would have no role to play in the coming cycle, not until it was over—finished.

Faint beams of light played across the figure’s face then, shining down from somewhere far above, and slowly the being stirred. The two uppermost pairs of wings unfurled as it lifted its head towards the source of the light, its eyelids peeling back to reveal eyes like glittering shards of ice, and its youthful features settled into a pleased smile as it caught sight of what had awakened it—five shooting stars, streaking across the black skies overhead towards the unseen horizon. It knew precisely what these meteors were, and more to the point it knew exactly when and where they would be landing; even in its dreaming state, the cherub had made suitable arrangements for the arrival of their new…guests.

“They have arrived,” Lucemon whispered, its smile widening. “Perfect…”

Silas watched as Olivia, Alistair and the others walked into the door; each of them vanished as soon as they stepped into the light, and once all five of them were through the door swung shut with a loud clang. Their names vanished from the text box above the portal, replaced by the word Processing written in both English and Japanese; a ring-shaped loading icon formed next to this word, and the door began to produce sounds not unlike those made by an old dial-up modem.

“This could take a minute or two to complete, children,” said Mr. Weiss. “I need to monitor the process to make sure this goes off without a hitch, so I’ll be incommunicado for a few seconds; you’d best make yourselves comfortable in the meantime. Now, if you’ll excuse me…”

And with that, the panels of text containing Weiss’ speech promptly winked out of existence, leaving the remaining beta testers to their own devices. Noting that the others had been comparing their Digimon a moment ago, the grey-eyed youth figured that he might as well join in; it wasn’t like there was much else to do at the moment, anyway. This digital landscape was cool, no question, but right then it didn’t exactly have a whole lot going for it. He began walking over towards the other players, wondering which Digimon they had and how they would compare to his Hawkmon, but before he could reach them his Digivice suddenly let out a high-pitched beep and its screen began flashing.

“Huh?” Frowning, the grey-eyed youth brought the tiny plastic device up and squinted at the tiny font on its minuscule screen. “ ‘Message Received’?”

Curious and more than a little perplexed, the curly-haired Canadian tapped a button to accept this message. Instantly the Digivice projected another holographic screen, this one a simple text box which contained only the following information:

To: Silas_Roland
From: G._Cal

Turn Around._

The young man blinked, confused. Who on earth was ‘G. Cal’, and why had they sent him such a brief and cryptic message? Maybe one of the other contestants had decided to play some sort of prank on him.

Nevertheless, Silas slowly glanced over his shoulder, steeling himself for disappointment…only to step back in shock as what appeared to be a second door materialized in front of him. To say it bore little resemblance to the one that five of them had already stepped through was a bit of an understatement; circular, metallic and covered with complex traceries resembling circuit lines, it looked more like a dull, gunmetal version of Magna Angemon’s Gate of Destiny attack than any normal door. This one split open down the middle as well, its two halves receding into the circular frame with a faint hiss to reveal a white void of its own; unlike the one which Olivia, Alistair, Ayako and the other two had stepped into, this particular void seemed to flicker and shake as though it were unstable.

“What the heck?” Silas said to no one in particular. “Why aren’t we using the same door?”

A rectangular text box formed over the gate, and scrolling lines of text formed rapidly inside of it as though someone were typing frantically at a keyboard.

No time to explain; not safe. Enter, quickly. Go!

Ayako frowned slightly at Alistair. She wasn't sure if she liked this American...he was being kind of loud. And she wished he'd stop making fun of her (now mostly absent) accent. Together with the spinning Israeli girl, the nosy Haruka and those who had been talking about this being a matter for the military or something, she was beginning to wonder if she was gonna enjoy playing with these people at all...

She pulled herself together and made herself smile. That was no proper attitude to be having right now! Her dreams were being realized right in front of her eyes, so she shouldn't be complaining about minor stuff like that. As long as she could walk in the Digital World together with Renamon as her partner, nothing else mattered!

"Yup! Now we can talk without anything getting in the way."

Before she could say anything more, however, Mr. Weiss' voice returned. The fangirl grinned for real when she was told she was in the first group to enter the server. She was in the same group as her least favourite American and that strange sickly-looking girl that never seemed to smile. There was also the boy that seemed so happy about his Impmon and the guy who had asked Haruka about his Demi-Devimon.

In her group, Ayako's own Renamon was the only Data Digimon out of the ones she knew, she realized. With the other girl's Syakomon, that made it in total three Virus Digimon, and she didn't know what Alistair had gotten. She hoped there wouldn't be PVP this early; she was at a severe disadvantage.

They entered, and Ayako felt her heart race as she realized that they were being moved within the Digital World. Here came the entry...

Ayako let out a yelp of pain as her fingers started itching, and when she looked at them, she grew very pale. It hurt, oh gods above, it hurt! It felt like her real body was being slowly melted away with acid! She closed her eyes tightly together, as if trying to shut out the sensation of her limbs being slowly destroyed. Tears started forming in her eyes, and she started repeating in her mind that it was all worth it for the chance to visit the Digital World.

I want to see it, I want to experience it...but...ah, it hurts...

That was her final thought before finally everything turned a blissful white for her.

Eric heard their guide's reassurances, but didn't believe them for a moment. There was too much hesitation in the way that he said it, not to mention his muttering earlier; it seemed that 'Midori' had messed about with the data for his digivice. But why his? Or was it possible that they had all been tampered with, and his was the only one showing signs of it? But again, why him?

He knew that 'Midori' was Japanese for 'green', one of the very few words he did. He just assumed that it was someone on the development team - he was aware that it was a fairly common girl's name - but something about it bugged him. Like he was forgetting something important...

Well, whatever was going on, it was secondary to the new spectacle in front of him. That gate was quite an impressive display. He wasn't in the first group to go in, which relieved him somewhat. He never liked going first in anything. So he watched as the first five walked through the gate, which slammed shut behind them. 'Processing'? Why did that sound ominous to him? Probably the build-up of worries that had been collecting since this whole thing started playing with him.

He made to walk to the edge of the room, hoping to finally get an idea of what exactly those data streams felt like in his hands, but a high pitched beep caught his attention. He looked back towards the group to see what had caused it, only to get an eyeful of the weird new gate that popped up. He hurried back to the rest of the group in time to see the last part of the message.

"So... do we... do it?" He asked hesitantly, making no move towards the gate just yet.

"Ah. Got it." William said. He soaked up the information like a sponge and May could notice his eyes were drawn in, showing his interest in learning this. He was happy that he had a lot of help learning this game. William's happiness was soon shattered by Weiss' chattering with this Midori character. About how it wasn't the coding for Eric's Digivice. Suddenly, all those thoughts about this turning into the Hunger Games and how it should be used by the military came back. In. Out. His breathing slowly became rapid, that is until Weiss spoke up again.

Weiss said not to worry. The game was about to begin. His breathing slowed before anyone noticed that he was about to panic. He noticed the door appearing out of nowhere. Weiss then asked for a couple of people to go through the door. He didn't get a lot of time to know those five, safe for Joel with the pizza discussion, though he sighed in relief that he wouldn't have to worry about the headphones lady anytime soon, as she was among the five. They soon got into the portal. Soon, the door, presumably for them, began to process. He began to play the waiting game.

Then, with the sound of a beep, in front of Silas, the door appeared. It didn't take that long it seemed. He ignored a lot of details, the flickering void, the text telling them to go in quickly, and even Eric's question of if they should go in or not. All he could say is; "Alrighty! Digimon MMO, here we come!" as he walked to the portal.
