Oh, yeah, and there's another word that people use enough times that I wonder if they know what it means.
That word is "honour". People seem to say "honour" in a number of situations, when "ego" would be a better word.

Schizophrenia in particular gets misused a lot in TV and movies. It does not mean "multiple personalities," but just about any time it's brought up in TV they say it is.
Misusing the word schizophrenia is slightly more justified than other examples since it has it's root in two Greek words that literally mean "split/divided mind." It's still annoying to hear it incorrectly used, though.

You Keep Using That Word is an interesting trope. I can tell you that I've seen some very bizarre definitions of real words in fiction. Check these out:
Anyone who looks up "ambition" in a dictionary hasn't seen "evil" anywhere in its definition. "Loyalty" does not automatically make you a Yes-Man, "servility" does. "Patriots" love their country, and there is nothing "sociopathic" about that, whatever Comic Books would have you believe.
So, what about you guys? Have you seen real words get bizarre definitions in fiction?
