Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Sorry to bump this old thread, but there's very sad news. Studio Ghibli has announced that they are going to close. I wish I could provide a link to an article, but I am a new account (apparently, even though I've been here for six months). But Google it, it's true. It is, indeed a huge loss to animation in general, their animation, the characters their films had, the atmosphere. Thirty exact years, and this animation studio closes down. What a fucking shame. Discuss the legacy of this prestigious animation studios in animation and filmmaking in general.

I'm gonna go be sad now.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Huh. Wonder what this means for Ronya. I can't say I was looking forward to it, but...
I think this is relevant.

The Protomen enhanced my life.It will likely amount to the same thing ultimately, however.
I finally watched Kiki's Delivery Service for the first time, and I really enjoyed the music and scenery for the film. But I also felt sad watching this movie, and remembering it was Phil Hartman's final film role before his tragic murder in 1998. Making the scene where Kiki loses her powers and can no longer hear Jiji talk to her very eerie to watch. The credits especially got me the most, especially the In Memoriam part for Hartman. Please tell me I'm not the only one that felt like this when watching the movie.
I don't notice actors much. But one important thing about Kiki is that it is worth watching it subbed too, because Disney made some important changes to the script. They turned Jiji into a smooth-talking smartass fairly similar to Sabrina's Salem, where in the original the character is quite subdued (and female). That might be seen as an improvement, but what was definitely unwarranted was having him talk all the time just to fill in scenes made as silent, often describing what is right before the audience's eyes.
It's a great film though, in spite of its low-key story that would be more expected of television. My only real problem with it is how Kiki treats strangers with earnest respect but then becomes hostile towards the boy for no apparent reason, as if the power of the tsundere archetype could not be resisted even by Miyazaki.
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale. How is Jiji female in the original? Didn't Jiji get together with a female cat?

And Jiji is slang term for Old Man.
So either Jiji has a high pitched voice in the sub or ....
Well, let just leave the rest of that sentence to interpretation.
Jiji is a male who happens to sound like Shampoo in Japanese...
Dude I LOVE you and I REALLY dont intend to sound like a SJW, but did you just imply homosexuality is something awful that just cant even be mentioned?
I dont think that was your intention. You really are cool with me but be more careful, ok?
Do I have to be careful or are you just over thinking things Pretty Coco? I could have been thinking about how two female cats could possibly give birth to kittens, did that thought ever cross your mind?
Don't accuse me or anyone on something simply because of your rather lose assumption, Pretty Coco. That's never a wise thing to do. :|

I see that makes more sense, sorry! My bad!
It's okay. Sorry for sounding a bit snappy.
Speaking of gay, the final trailer for When Marnie Was There looks pretty sapphic:

There's been rumor of Miyzaki working on a new Lupin film? Wasn't aware of that really.
