"Good to see you doing your diligence, Rubus. Now get out, unpack, and enjoy your day. Classes start tomorrow, and you will not be enjoying it then. I guarantee it. If you don't believe me, ask almost any bending policer younger than me. They'll tell you the same thing: My class hurts. Good day, Rubus." With that, Bakal left the taller man's presence, heading out to the city.
Kuya had just finished his Firebending practice when he saw a girl watching him out of the corner of his eye. Breathing heavily and quite covered in sweat, Kuya stood straight and gave her a skeptical look.
"What are you looking at? Never seen a firebender like me before?" he asked, crossing his arms.

Rubus shut his eyes and silently whimpered. He had a sudden vivid image of himself in a green forest. This calmed him somewhat.
He left the building, and looked around the grounds.

Ah. Firebender. And a self-taught one at that. She respected firebenders. One of the only things her father had managed to instill in her. Imagine that.
"Just hope they don't run this place like some kind of military boot camp." Naima wrinkled her nose, shifting her hands to her hips. She wasn't much for authority. "You staying on campus in the dorms?" She personally wasn't going to be going that route. Being here for classes was bad enough — staying here would be torture.

"Honestly? No." Shuo answered truthfully. "You're from the city? Or from one of the poles?" she asked calmly while stepping closer.

Naima gave a slight pause. Now she supposed she looked pretty silly and ungrateful. Her tuition had easily been paid for by Arika — while Phoenix had to part with his hard earned money in order to make it in. Her cheeks tinted red briefly before she shook her head, trying to hide her embarrassment.
"I would say your money could've been better spent on something else but you're so determined to put all your eggs in this one basket. That's... admirable."

"That's a good thing." Kaizer commented. "I heard the dorms aren't exactly that great. Pranks every single day of the week."
He gave Naima a short wave. "Kaizer. Waterbender. Northern Water Tribe. Although you might have figured it out from my skin. Most people do."

Phoenix blushed heavily at what Naima said, not very used to compliments. Especially one from a lady as cute as her.

"I'm here to learn, same as everyone." Shuo answered calmly while beginning to stretch. "To expand my skills and knowledge. What specialization are you here for, Blue Fire or Lightning?"

Kuya smirked as he decided to give her a nonverbal answer. Pointing his index and middle fingers out like guns, the young firebender twisted his arms around to separate the energy before bringing them together and firing lightning straight into the air.
"And what are you learning? I didn't catch your name." Kuya remarked as he began to stretch after all that practice. In a few minutes he would be ready to practice again.

Shuo raised her eyebrow again, sighed and then mirrored the other ones action in a fluid motion. Pointing her fingers up, Shuo's lightning followed his into the sky, commented by the annoyed sound of a few Sparrowmice.
"Shuo Xia, and yours is?" she answered as she followed up on this display with a few controlled firebending training motions, shooting fire in the air.

"Kuya Shen. Nice to meet you." he said. The young firebender observed the young woman shoot fire into the sky, taking note of her style. As Kuya finished stretching, an idea came to his mind. Getting into a ready stance, he prepared to shoot fire at her.
"Watch out!" he yelled to get her attention. Right after he spoke, Kuya began punching fireballs at her in quick succession. Let's see what we're made of. he thought.

Naima followed after Phoenix, arms now folded behind her head. "History. Bleh. No offense but I find that stuff kind of boring." However useful knowing such facts was, she just couldn't bring herself to seriously study or commit any of it to memory. "I really hope there isn't too much of that forced down our throats while we're here." Her nose wrinkled.

"Well, I'm not really an... what's the word? Out-going person." he said, using air quotes. "I'm not that interested in the nightlife of Republic City. So usually I find myself reading all the books about bending and history that I can find. Some people find it boring. I find it particularly interesting."

Just as Kuya shouted, Shuo came out of another form. Assessing the situation she tried to use the momentum to either avoid the fireballs or block them with her hands.
Continuing the motions Shuo then used her foot to answer the Fireballs with a scythe of fire. "What's wrong?" she demanded?

Phoenix pushed his hand through his hair.
"I actually like history, but whenever I've gone to a library to read up on it I've always been bored. Every once in a while I'll find a book on it that's interesting, but for the most part they are just to dry. Much more fun to just listen too an enthusiast talk about it for a while."

"I want to spar." Kuya replied as if it were the most obvious thing. A determined expression came upon his face as he spoke again. "And you're the only other person in the area. Get ready!"
Kuya kicked forward at Shuo, releasing a stream of fire at her.

"Then next time, ask first!" Shuo answered, her face concentrated, as she dived around the stream and answered with focused - two-finger based - shots of fire, trying to force him on the defensive and close the distance between Kuya und her.

Aiko dropped forwards to avoid the attack and rolled a short distance before rising again. Zhao probably had more stamina than her from training, meaning that the longer the fight went on, the worse off she'd be. If she wanted to win, she'd have to defeat Zhao fast.
Then again, someone on the defensive probably wouldn't tire so fast. She took a defensive stance and prepared to counter any blows sent at her.
