So perhaps it’s offtopic an bit but am I the only who’s noticing that since this year began, beloved creators are turning out to be awful people more frequently?

Someone always points that out every few months.

There's just a lot of creators out there. And it's a field with a low barrier to entry and high appeal to people with egos. So yeah. It's been an attractive place for bad people. This isn't new, nor is creators being revealed as monsters.

It was pretty funny during Friday's Flashback with Smosh where Ian, Anthony, Rhett, and Link practically couldn't name anyone from a party they'd attended in 2013 because a lot of the folks from back then had since been cancelled (except for iJustine). I know that they were being facetious and probably just couldn't remember anyone else off the top of their head, but two of the biggest names from that time who've definitely been outed as terrible people since that come to mind are Tobuscus and Shane Dawson.

And just like everything else You Tube does this won't fail at all.

Yeah. I can see it now. It will target anything but the fake ads and will just go after everyone who just happen to get them on their channel.

Yes. It’s really only when I’m signed in though when this happens. Edit: Also I just got an ad 17 seconds in the video.

Sometimes. Youtube recommendations are kind of a crapshoot. They do have a bad habit of recommending things I've already watched super recently. Its like "Hey Youtube, if I want to watch that again, I'll just scroll through my History, okay?"

I don't not want it, but I get the hbomberguy plagiarism video auto playing after every other video.

I still get Guga's 100 years of X-food a lot myself. And if not that, LTT best build vid, and a lot of Brooklyn 99.

Hell, for a week I got the Return to Krocodile Isle vid simply because the algorithm thinks I need to watch it more than a few times. Which, btw, is totes a dope vid.

I keep getting so many recommendations for drama videos and those are the type of videos I don't like to watch. But, no matter how many times I've pressed the "Not Interested" button, You Tube still recommends me drama videos, no matter what.

Yeah. Like I enjoy drama videos but only by a few select people but the site loves to recommend me drama videos from people I either don’t enjoy or people I’ve never heard of. Mainly about Boogie 2988.

I keep having 3-4 view videos show up on the 3rd slot. I mean, sure, it's nice the smaller channels get some love, but it's always unrelated to what I'm watching.

Yeah I can definitely see the automatic AI spotter target content creators much like their autoflag system.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if someone dug into the site's proprietary code and discovered that "Not Interested" is actually just cosmetic and doesn't have any effect whatsoever.

x3Yeah that’s been happening a lot lately. Also how ironic that the site is more unusable when your signed in cause apart from a few unrelated videos pooping up (Well and a 32 minute skippable ad.) Youtube works rather well.

I’ll be shocked if that doesn’t happen given how happy the site flags anything.

Perhaps someone already did and the video was flagged for being offensive.

Am I alone in being unfortunate enough to (still) see Nausea Fuel in random unrelated video thumbnails YouTube throws in search results with reckless abandon? Who the fuck purposefully watches that shit? Did the AI watch The Ren & Stimpy Show?

The YouTube algorithm just feels like it picks between prioritizing Minecraft content or Nausea Fuel/Squick to users. We're playing Reddit 50/50 with fucking YouTube now?

Kinda. The disgusting stuff for me pretty much is only from the ads. (The ones that say they are cool game stuff.) But for actual video thumbnails though nothing for me.

I've not seen any gross thumbnails mercifully.

I've seen a few gross thumbnails, although thankfully, they don't show up too often.

Same here. Although I do have one right now with mealworms and Carolina reapers.

Searching can be an crapshoot. Sometimes it gives you what you asked for but then there are times when it never gives you what you want. And of course there’s always something that doesn’t belong in your search.
