A recent discovery of mine:

World End Solte Saihate no Solte, a.k.a. Solte the Traveler

This is the story of Solte, a young girl In a World… where magic is forbidden after its extreme use in the Great Offscreen War has resulted in pockets of magical pollution that cause problems to this day.

When circumstances conspire to force Solte from her home village, she sets out on a journey into the Blightlands, the most polluted of areas where Salvagers hunt down what relics of the past remain.

Solte's goal isn't mere salvage, however. She wants to go to the actual ends of the earth, to go farther than anyone ever has and maybe, just maybe, discover the Land of the Dead where she may yet see her parents again.

Joining Solte on her journey are the fairy Seren, with whom Solte can fuse Magical Girl-style to use powerful magic and who has memories of having made this journey once already, Firo, a nervous Death Seeker swordsman cursed with immortality unless he is killed in battle, and compelled to fight at full strength even if he dosn't want to, and Black, Solte's paternal uncle, who is unusually wise in the ways of the world... and a mole-man.

It's an interesting adventure story. It makes me think of Made in Abyss without the lolicon, or maybe One Piece due to some of the bizarre locales seen throughout the journey. It has long gaps between chapters by the look of it though, with chapters ending with notes like "next chapter in summer"

In Comic Gene, there's this manga I follow called Yaoyorozu Shinsen Shokudou, which involves a lil' boi named Hiyori and a wolf god Hachi, who, as a death wish from the grandma who used to own the restaurant Hiyori usually goes to after school, took it over as a place for gods and such to eat. It's mainly heartwarming with food and stuff, but unfortunately, it seems it's gonna be axed by next issue... I say unfortunately because it would only have a 7-month run with only 6 chapters (including the upcoming final one).

Ragarding Sakurai, there were 3 women total: his radioshow scriptwriter, former college friend and his wifes friend. He actually got recasted for one upcoming show at the moment but I doubt there will be many more.

Speaking of Zom 100, it’s going to get an anime soon and it looks way better than I would have expected.

Yeah, I need to get back to that. I imagine I'll probably watch the anime and then use it as a kickoff point; I forget how far in I got.

It's been fun.

I've been reading Make the Exorcist Fall in Love: Humanity has been pestered by Demons for millenia, and those who fight them are Exorcist. Among them a Boy is born with great power, foretold to one day defeat Satan himself. Because his upbringing was horrible he at first just wanted to die a martyr so he could go to heaven, as living was too painful. That changed when his master taught him about love and told him he should love others and fall in love so he might find happiness in this life.

Several years later Father (as everyone calls him) now more well adjusted, is given an important mission. Satan himself made a threat against Imuri, a famous artist who's favorite theme is "Demons in love" paintings of angels who fallen because the fell in love.

Father and Imuri start living together and immediately hit it off. Is that the love his master told him about? It would be easier to find out if the damn demons stopped pestering them all the time. Though of course the bigger obstacle is the fact that Imuri herself is secretly a demon sent by Satan herself to seduce him and make him fall like the angels in her paintings.

I really, really like this series. The story is interesting, the character work and interactions are great, art is good, and the action scenes are fun. It has a good balance of all elements: intrigue and action, comedy and drama are well blended together without one overpowering the others. It's not afraid to get really dark at times, but it's not really a bleak series. Like the demons are just the worst (which is another thing I like) but it's shown that goodness can and will triumph over evil. It also has probably the best understanding of christian theology I've seen in manga. The author really did their homework.

I have been seeing a lack of Higanjima and Kichikujima like those mangas are still ongoing for horror mangas. Still jarring to me that no one added their pages hear yet. Even Gannibal despite being completed with 13 volumes and it already got a live action adaption tv show in Disney Plus.

I started reading The Four Brothers of the Yuzuki Household (Japanese title: Yuzuki-san Chi no Yon Kyodai) after seeing the anime announcement, plus I do like me a good slice of anime.

Synopsis: The plot follows the Yuzuki brothers, consisting of the responsible Hayato (The oldest), the cool Mikoto (The second brother), the energetic Minato (The third brother) and the quiet Gakuto (The youngest brother). After their parent's death, Hayato takes over as the main caretaker for his younger brothers. The story is told through Minato POV as it follows their daily life.

Overall Thoughts: I'm currently at Chapter 2 as of writing. There are currently 9 chapter that have scanlated, but hopefully that would change with the upcoming anime. I will say, I am always a sucker for media that explore unconventinal family dynamics, and a series about an older sibling taking care of several younger ones sounds right my alley. One thing I noticed is that the brother aren't exactly fully together. Minato is quite jealous of Mikoto since he find the fact that Mikoto is cooler as well people comparing Minato to Mikoto what what Minato should do. During the halfway chapter, Minato and Gakuto decide to go to a firework show without Hayato and Mikoto's knowledge as Minato wants to let Gakuto see fireworks, showing that Minato does have a soft size. For everything that happens to them and their differing personalities, its clear they care about each other.

Another thing of note is how the art looks. I think that both the manga and anime has a nice style. It definently sells itself as a cozy Shojo manga (which it is).

Got put on to QQ Sweeper/Queen's Quality by the Colleen's manga recs channel, and I'm digging it so far (even if I could only get digital copies of some volumes). Also, Prince Freya, which doesn't have a page here yet. I also want to reread Basara, but can't find my copies of the early volumes at the moment.

Decided to re-pick up Shimeji Simulation. I read back long ago, but seeing that's it's still ongoing, I had to to read to see where it's at.

What I really like is the art style. Unlike a lot of other manga, the panels are drawn in a very sketch like manner. It really makes me feel like I'm reading some weird indie comic. It's very unpolished, but that's the charm of it.

In addition, I heard this manga gets really exisential, and that makes me want to read more of it.

Just started reading Tearmoon Empire (light novel and a bit of the manga), about a fallen princess who after her execution is sent back to the body of her 12-year-old self. If only because I was hired to translate the damn thing.

From the first page I expected something fairly dark, but it turns out watching Mia continuously fail upward is extremely entertaining. evil grin The comedy is all in the contrast between her thoughts and how people see her, which miraculously align to produce uncanny results.

The English scanlations of all three series seem to have stalled, unfortunately, but I've had some good luck running the Korean scans of the latest Stardust Telepath chapters through Google Translate, which is better than nothing, I guess.

Hmm... I just today found out that D-Frag! is actually a sizeable series. I'd only seen the anime and it sadly not having a second season, but I loved it and now knowing that there's not just more of it (which I would've guessed), but a LOT more?... I think I have to seek this out now.

Does anyone know any LEGAL online sites or stores to read it, or am I out of luck there?

Knowing how much more manga there is now, now I have a decent non-ecchi example to give to the question "What's an anime you'd die for another season of?"

[up] Giving myself an answer to that question, I would love another season (or 2 or 3 or...) of Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, since there are almost 350 chapters of the manga, so there is plenty of material.

I've been reading Magus of the Library by Izumi Mitsu lately, and man, this series is criminally underrated. It's gorgeous for one, and the characters are all so vibrant. I put it right up with Witch Hat Atelier in terms of atmospheric, thoughtful, rich and socially conscious fantasy.

It's been fun.

Read Rain's Head (the TVT page has a ton of spoilers because of its premise of the main character dying, so DON'T visit it until you finish the manga). It's a bittersweet but interesting manga by Usami, though a very obscure one to begin with.

I've been reading season 2 of Kaiten Mutenmaru over and over. It's an intensely dramatic nekketsu shōnen manga which happens to be created by the sushi restaurant Kura Sushi.

The webcomic might look cute and bright but it has Sick Valachlorophenol, the most terrifying character I've ever seen on the internet. Tetsujin Granchio is another of my favorite characters and Umimi Shira and Crocell Xylel have two of the best character development arcs I've ever seen. The friendship between Umimi and Tear Crown brought me tears and it made me happy to see Crocell return to the story as the hero Anchor Gill long after his defeat.

If you are interested, I run a Discord server dedicated to the webcomic and Sushipet. You can find a list of useful links there.

My Deer Friend Nokotan: It's an unholy blend of Aho Girl and Sabagebu!. It features a stupid, bizarre girl with deer antlers who makes life hell for a Class Princess mortified about her past as a Japanese Delinquent. There's some kind of plot about a school club where the deer girl tries to get the Class Princess to take care of her as if she's a school pet, but it almost instantly dissolves into a series of surreal odysseys into non-sequitur-land.

An anime from the director of YuruYuri, Sabegebu, Himouto! Umaru-chan, and Gabriel DropOut is coming out in July. Highly recommended if you enjoy any of those.
