Justice Avengers: Dawn over New York

Star City

In this version, Ollie doesn't own the Arrowcar - just his green motorcycle. I was just planning on Rahne giving Cypher a lift and Duos flying there with Speedy and Ollie on his bike.

"Alright troops, let's see what these cops know. Although be careful. The police have their own agenda so analyze their words." Ollie told his group, causing Roy to scoff.

"You really have it in for cops, don't you? Why can't you just let them do their jobs?" Roy asked.

"The last time I did that, Canary got shot by that Lomax bastard." Green Arrow told Roy. His sidekick shook his head and they went up to the cop.

"Evening officers. What seems to be the trouble?" Ollie asked the cops.

"And can the Outsiders help?" Speedy asked.

Past

"Yeah, kid" Blue Diamond said, rising back to his feet, still in pain from N'astir's blast, but physically unharmed. "How about you put that thing to good use... and finish him off?" he added dramatically, pointing to the huge, red demon.

New York

"Congorilla?" Rogue asked the sentient gorilla, and the glanced at Rocket. "Oh, this here's Rocket Raccoon, the space raccoon I have on my speed dial!"

"I think I might be able to help the officers return to normal," Rogue sighed to Congorilla. "I had to use my mutant power on Blue Beetle here to knock him out, and he has returned to normal, even if he's unconscious due to my power."

"My mutant power allows me to borrow, among other things, the memories and personalities of people," Rogue crossed her arms obviously uncomfortable about offering this. "I can even describe how it affected Blue Beetle here."

"I think I would be best at helping N'Kantu in case he doesn't have a safer method," Rogue explained her reasoning, still unsure of her offer. "The risk is that they'll be out for a while like Blue Beetle here is."

"Just be careful lass," Rocket warned Rogue. "Don't go overloading your brain." He then turned to Congorilla, apparently not reacting the slightest about normal conversation. "If possible, try to contact any loved ones of the victims. Their affliction might be biological, but its affecting on a psychological and emotional level. Probably some alone time with those they know could jumpstart the healing process."

Even Mary was surprised that the supernatural villain had listened to her, but she was also hopeful there was some hope of redemption in him.

She looked at Karkull and told him" Thank you."

Then she looked at Dr Fate, while Flying and asked the mighty wizard. " I know he has done some bad things.... But is there a way we could help him to return back to normal ?"

Karkull's warning didn't ring hollow on her. Discovering the the world was darker than she thought, seeing the heart of a rapist monster and briefly becoming the monster herself was the hardest lesson for her.

She turned back at the heroes of S.T.R.I.K.E: Gold, Moon Knight, Skeets, Coulson and Booster and told them "When this is over, I would like your help with rescuing them," she said referring to those that were experimented on like Tandy. I don't know what's in there. But I think everything is easier whith friends," she gave them a warm smile.

She still wondered were Rogue and Jacob could be, but with Karkull down and Mr negative on the run, she was optimistic they would be fine.

The werewolf carefully put Beetle down as the others started talking. They were more qualified to sort this out but it looked like they were almost done here.

"Careful. This one was... aggressive."

Jacob warned Congorilla, although the creature commando probably didn't need the advice.

Ravencroft

"Actually, contacting their loved ones might be a good idea," Rogue noted to Congorilla. "Blue Beetle was fighting it off while..."

Rogue blushed slightly, and whispered so only Rocket, Jacob, and Congorilla heard her. "He was fighting off the inversion while I was reminding him of the love he had for me as his girlfriend, and I did kiss him, so it's possible that love was the reason that he reverted and not my power per say."

Rogue looked embarrassed about revealing that, but if it could help others return to normal, then it had to be shared.

"And you just met Blue Beetle when his entire personality was inverted," Rogue explained to Jacob. "He's normally the sweetest, nicest guy ever!"

"I'm sure he is. I've seen magic mess with minds lots."

As they spoke, Jacob wondered where the others were. They had dealt with a lot of it but he'd like to at least check on Mary and Fate.

Upon seeing Green Arrow and his motley crew, the officer winced, and put on a polite-yet-strained smile reserved for Jehova's Witnesses and drunk strangers making conversation in the street.

"Uh, thank you for your interest, Arrow," she said, "But we're processing the area right now. Investigating the premises, interviewing the occupants, that kind of thing."

Doctor Fate spoke levelly, as if toning down his usual brusqueness for a younger audience. "I fear you squander your compassion, young Mary," he said. "Here hangs a man that plundered the secrets of an ancient city, used them to warp his own flesh into the stuff of shadows, all so that he might murder those that slighted him, and commit bank robberies. Today, he had the means to undo his plight, and all he could think of was revenge. Understand: he was the lowest sort of wretch, even before his transformation, and deserves every moment of his retribution. End it, and he will be back to his criminal ways in short order."

Past

"Come on, Darwin, don't listen to him. We've been in the past for far too long." Megan said, trying to goad him into leaving.

Present

Rahne left with such speed she didn't get to see the blush in Duos' furry face. " T-thanks... "

Flying behind the group with surprising ease, Duos landed with a thud, assuming a gargoyle like position atop a lamppost. "Y-you don't have to worry!" He yelled out at the guards, jumping down from the post. "Rahne, does your... wolf abilities extend to your nose?" He asked, tapping his nose, hoping she would get his suggestion.

"Well, pal, I figure once you're done, we could step in and lend a hand. Many heads are better than one." Green Arrow said with a smile but his tone was dripping with passive aggressiveness.

"So, uh, you been doing this superhero thing often?" Roy chatted up Rahne.

"I think in this case there's a little mutant power thrown in there," Rocket said. "Seems to spread from Negative not unlike a fast acting virus."

Nazi

Darwin looked over at Soth and did a full-shoulder flinch, "Oh. Yeah," He eyed the crocodile demon he'd nicknamed "Soth" in his head, "That's still a thing."

I sure hope I don't need an instruction manual for this thing.

He pointed the spear at the demon, "Alright..."

Deep breath, scowl, focus.

"Die."

Jaime let out a low, inarticulate noise as he gently pushed his head into Rogue. The world was bright and loud and trying to drag him awake, but he was tired and comfortable and wanted nothing to do with it. Against his will his eyes peered open a tiny bit, revealing

...

a gorilla, a werewolf, and Rocket Raccoon?

His eyes closed once more as he tried to hide his head in his pillow, a stray thought mentally cursing Rocket for making his dreams so weird.

There was a moment of silence.

"pf HA HA HA HA H-"

N'astir suddenly found his own tail strangling him. He struggled with the appendage, only to find his talons attempting to puncture his throat. There was a few seconds of struggling, with the demon clutching his head, desperately trying to regain control of his mind and then... SNAP! He sharply twisted his own head to the right, was upright for a second, then fell to the floor as limp as a scarecrow.

Now, since N'astir was a demonic entity, made from spiritual essence, and couldn't die in quite the way Darwin understood death, he compensated by imitating the symptoms of mortal end. A green cloud, like a burst of spores, was sucked off N'astir's body, and trailed through the portal, back into the world beyond. Without a master, the fire demons trembled, and collapsed into themselves. By the time it was over, all that remained was the shrivelled black remnants of N'astir, and scattered bits of coal where the fire demons had been.

Congorilla mused on all this. "Well, if you feel up to the task, young miss, I'm sure Agent Quartermaine won't object to a rapid solution. I'll have the loved ones informed, and while we're at it, the rest of the police department might like to know the status of their officers."

Rahne didn't seem sure what to make of someone coming on to her. "Uh, weill, no' that often, really. I've scared a few lowlives an' this one shoplifter when I was 'xplorin' town after dark, bu' that's aboat it, really."

On cue, Rahne partly shifted so that her nose would be a wolf's snout. "Sure, why?"

"That is true," said the officer, "But we've got a few heads working on this already. Besides, we don't want the family to be too...um..." She was obviously trying not to stare at Duos and Rahne. "...well, they've had a lot of excitement for one day."

The Past

Raven stumbled, clutching her head as the influence of the Spear diminished upon being removed from the Nazi's influence. Megan could tell the conflict in her mind only grew more intense and complicated, as aspects of herself fought against one another in an attempt to regain normality. This inner conflict was causing some chaos within the sorceress's powers, as walls cracked and glass shattered around her. A blast of her own black energy knocked Raven to the floor as she tried, and failed, to control herself.

She watched with a pained expression as Darwin commanded N'astir to die and the demon obeyed. His demonic influence swept back into the portal, taking his remains with him. Her red glare fixed on Darwin as his raised a hand up, trying one last time to summon up her control over her powers. As soon as Nastir's essence escpaed into the portal, a large black clawed hand formed behind the rip in space. It curled into a fist, squeezing the portal in impossible ways as it slowly covered it. The black energy formed a sphere around the portal that shrank smaller and smaller until it folded in on its self, closing the portal once more. With her remaining energy spent, Raven collapsed on the floor.

Past

Blue Diamond watched the red monster die as ordered by the Grey Guy with the Spear. It was fascinating and shocking at the same time. But hey, it was just a demon, right? At least it -and its minions!- were done with. Which just left the Nazis -which he was sure they could handle easily- and the Red Girl.

Speaking of whom, he turned around to look at her, and saw her doing- something. He almost tackled her, except he was still staggering back to his feet after being blasted by Nastir. He saw her- close the portal? Was she back to normal again? She then fainted, apparently.

Oh well, that simplifies things, he thought. Finally standing, he shouted "Alrighty, everyone! Let's take down these Ratzis so we can go home!!"

Star City

"Hey now!" Green Arrow began, about to become insulted that this cop was insulting his new friends before realizing that she kind of had a point.

"Fair enough. Why don't you fill us in on everything you know and then we'll be out of your hair."

Past

Darwin lowered the spear and looked half-lidded at Soth's remains. He eyed Mister Man's gibbering form.

Hey... Megz. Can you get in contact with Access? We need to leave.

New York

"Yeah, yeah—" Anna Marie then noticed Jaime's squirming, and tried to rouse him awake though it seemed that he only wanted to lean more into her and then whispered to him. "Hey, Beetle, you up?"

System start.

"No."

Khaji Da online. I was offline? Mystery. Investigation begins. Running system scan.

Jaime whispered back as he reluctantly opened his eyes, his armour slowly draining away as he did so to be replaced by a newly formed pair of jeans and a thin white and blue hoodie that was down around his neck. He felt better somehow, cleaner and sore in a way that felt nice. Like he bathed in the sun.

"Morning. Much more pleasant site then I usually wake up to. How you doing?"

Morning. I went to sleep after a partial system drain? Systems running smoother, it feels ... cleaner. Less cluttered. Packets of corrupt data that I've never noticed before seem to have been repaired.

He started looking around again to check if he had imagined all the furry people he saw earlier. During his efforts he moved to support his weight himself, leaning into Rogue instead of on her.

His head nodded without his noticing as he took in the three figures. A gorilla, a werewolf, and Rocket. He quickly turned back to Rogue and then back to the three again, memories from earlier, not forgotten but deliberately not acknowledged, came into the fore front. Darkness, trapped. Violence, a struggle. Light.

Jaime's body pulled away from Rogue's almost entirely, only lightly brushing against her side with his fingertips, unable to completly deny his desire to be near her.

"I remember. I attacked you, and them, and others. You saved me. I ... I don't know what to say. Words seem lacking. Thank you."

"Glad your back with us, lad," Rocket said to Jaime when the Reach host awoke. "Though not to put a damper on the recovery so quick, but I suggest you two start talking out ye relationship woes," the raccoon suggested to both Jaime and Rogue.

"Welcome... Sorry about knockin' ya out for a bit there though, but it was an acceptable risk given the situation," Anna Marie smiled at Jaime. "You'd help any of us when in need."

"He was inverted in personality," Rogue said defensively to Rocket when he talked about relationship issues. "He and the police officers are acting in the inverse of how they'd normally act."

"It's deliberate manipulation of a person's personality," Rogue explained to the others. "It seems I might be needed to help out the police officers return to normal as well, though."

Jaime smiled back at her. He didn't think Rogue would blame him, not for a second, but seeing her so quick to defend him made him feel less guilty about this.

"Not a problem, I'm, uh, I'm glad it was you. Besides, oddly enough, aside from being sort of tired I'm feeling a bit better then usual."

He turned his head to face the rest of the room, but mostly Rocket.

"Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your concern, I just, it seems a little odd? I mean, I don't feel like what I was doing and saying back then was me fulfilling subconscious desires or anything like that, but even if it was I'm surprised that you of all people would be less concerned about me apparently being unsatisfied with my relationship instead of the fact that, you know, I was trying to kill people and helping to bring some extra dimensional monster into the world. I don't feel like that's the case, I'm pretty sure it was just the dude's super powers messing with me, but if me and Rogue are wrong and these are my secret desires or whatever I feel like the whole trying to kill my friends and other innocent people thing might be more troubling considering, you know, I am made of nuclear weapons."

He paused for a second, something he said bugging him.

"Ah, yeah, I completly forgot. What happened with the, um, the evil dude? You know, Mr.Negative and his boss man who was trying to rip off Lovecraft? It doesn't look a cosmic horror came to town and they usually aren't very discreet .... so .... did we stop them, or should we get moving like right now?"

Mary hear the words of Dr Fate, she looked down for a few seconds "That's true... But I believe we all deserve a second chance and he did tell us about that secret place. Maybe there is still some hope," she told the mighty lord of order.

Karkull's words that foreshadowed their probable demise was still in her mind "If there is a chance they are still I've to try," she told Dr Fate and Strike as her reasons for leaving. She still trusted Dr Fate would know what to do with his mystic enemy either Justice or Mercy.

On her way out she approached to the heroes at the hallway like Rocket Racoon, Rogue, Jacob and blue beetle.

" We defeated Karkull and Dr Fare is safe!" she told them happily almost clapping in excitement, "And he told us were the other kidnapped teens might be . I'm going to investigate I hope they are safe—She looked down trying not to think on those horrible experiments— Would you like to come with me ?" This information would feel familiar to Rogue as this was in fact the place they had been chasing all day long trying to find those other teens. However the fact that the heroes were more focused on the helping Mr negative's victims might mean she would have to go alone.

After offering them to come, she would fly straight to the abandoned power plant, with the hope of rescuing Tandy and Tye's friends.
