The article says it's Silver Age Bats, actually.
I like the idea, if only because I was a sucker for Batman The Brave And The Bold.

I have a message from another time...Oops. Silver Age. Still stars Boner Joker.
Jonah FalconI was hoping they would continue where City left off. So many cliffhangers..
Who knows? They may come back to that version someday. I hope the writing retains the same kind of quality, though. I've only played Arkham Asylum, and I thought it hit pretty much all the right notes.
I have a message from another time...I hope this will turn out like Batman The Brave And The Bold: The Game.
GOH! JII! RAH!As I asked in the Arkham City thread, is Variety a credible source for video game scoops?
"Urge to thump... rising." -FighteerI hope not.
They put so many cliffhangers in City.
Extremely. They have a relationship with Warner Bros, for one.
Jonah FalconVery disappointing if true. I want a continuation of the current storyline.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984I mean, the idea isn't bad by itself, but haven't we kind of been Joker-oversaturated lately? And this is me as Joker's Number One Fan*
"Urge to thump... rising." -FighteerWhat about Brave and the Bold?
"Urge to thump... rising." -FighteerI must admit, the idea of Mark Hammill voicing a Silver Age Joker makes me smile.
Still, it's probably not going to be entirely Silver Age-like - it's apparently going to be a prequel, yes? If most of the characters are anything like they are in Asylum or City but just a few years prior, they're still going to be fairly dark even if the tone is lighter.
I kind of expect Joker to be how he was in, say "Happy Birthday, Joker!"
Also, is it Golden or Silver age? The link says Silver Age, the threat says Golden Age. Golden age would be very, very awesome.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Silver Age. The thread title was a boner.
Jonah FalconI thought Mark Hamil was supposed to stop voicing The Joker after Arkham City?
With that said, A Silver Age prequel is the best idea for a followup! I wonder if it would have the biggest boner of Joker's career in the Arkham-verse.
"Pancakes. Oh, I blew it." - Joel Hodgson Nobody better lay a Butterfinger on my 3DS!Just an aside for your signature - it's Joel Hodgson, not Hodgeson.
Jonah FalconMark Hamill will stop voicing Joker when people stop giving him really amazing scripts.
Or when he does an adaptation of The Killing Joke.
Why is it that I'm often chewed out for just posting on here? There, signature fixed.
On topic, I'm not 100% convinced that this is real, but if it is I'm all for it. Don't know how the fans of the previous game would act to this considering how bizarre the Silver Age stuff could get.
"Pancakes. Oh, I blew it." - Joel Hodgson Nobody better lay a Butterfinger on my 3DS!Didn't really get chewed out. Just someone pointing out a fallacy in your signature. Closer to someone letting you know your fly is open then being chewed out.
So how would a Silver Age Bats game play? Silver Age Bats didn't really do any stealth just sort of...burst in and beat people up.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!I'm guessing gameplay wise there'd be a bit more emphasis on the combat challenges than the predator challenges, and you'd probably be able to use the vehicles like the Batmobline or the Batwing more often.
However, I'm not expecting much in the way of the Silver Age stuff effecting gameplay, per se. More that it will effect atmosphere. Gimmick villains being more obvious with their gimmicks. More audacious crimes rather than the more brutal and realistic natures of the crimes of the Modern day. A brighter, less overtly depressing Gotham than the one we've seen (it'll probably end up being subtly depressing, though).
Dick as Robin. Barbara as Batgirl. Alfred... hopefully as Alfred and not the Outsider or something. It'd be funny if a young Jason or an ever younger Tim make appearances.
If this leads to gameplay in Gotham itself rather than cooped up inside a prison, and side missions without Gotham where you stop super-crime waves and such, count me in.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. It could be an Xbox Live Arcade sidescroller.
Jonah FalconExcept for the fact that Rocksteady has no experience with sidescrollers.
But still having Conroy and Hamill doing voices.
Hamill's voice would go well with the harmlessly loony Joker.
PLEASE let them have an episode about boners!
