@Ud: I would think Magneto would have better control of magnetism than Static, but lacks Static's electrical powers.

"I'm Static! I'll put a shock to your— ACK!!!"

"You dare try to use magnetism against its master? I am a mutant... Homo super— ACK!!!"

"I'll put a shock to your system!"

I also imagine Magneto being rather impressed with Static's skill with magnetism at his age, hinting that an adult Static might actually surpass Magneto in control over electromagnetism. In fact, their powers work similarly enough that they could probably imitate each other's techniques given enough study. Both Magneto and Static are even resistant to telepathic attacks because of their control over electromagnetism.

Agreed, though Magneto currently far strips Static in all areas (power, skill, scientific knowledge, ruthlessness, etc.)

A closer match would be Green Lantern foe Doctor Polaris (though my money would still be on Magneto.)

It would be fun to see Static run into Electro. He'd make a great member of the New Warriors, too.

Since the original player no longer seems to be with us, I wished to take over as Raven. Might as well make a few touch-ups while I am at it.

  • Name: Raven
  • Real Name: Rachel Roth
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: Late Teens
  • Appearance: Here you go
  • Alignment: Good
  • Personality: Raven is a quiet and withdrawn girl, which causes some people to believe that shes rather cold. On the inside she is very different, she is protective of her friends and not above chatting with someone she is familiar with. She does have some trouble making friends in the first place though, thanks to her reluctance to open up. She has to keep her emotions in check due to her powers being controlled by them. Raven has an interest in dark things, things that some might find creepy. She is insecure about herself, who she is, and who she is related to.
  • Powers and Abilities:
  • Powers:
    • Telekinesis: Raven's most commonly displayed ability, she is able to lift objects up to and including large buses and use them as weapons.
    • Levitation: Raven cannot technically fly, although she can use her telekinetic abilities to levitate herself.
    • Teleportation: Raven is able to teleport herself and others over short distances, although this puts a sizeable strain on her.
    • Healing: Raven can heal minor wounds both to herself and others.
    • Intangibility: Raven is able to used her powers to temporarily allow a physical object to be passed through. The thicker it is, the more difficult this is.
    • Magical Aptitude: Raven displays an understanding of mysticism and spell casting.
  • Weapons and Equipment:
    • Chakra: The red jewel affixed to her forehead helps her to control the darker urges of her Soul-Self.
  • Origin: Raven's mother, the first Rachel Roth, was originally from the same Earth as everyone else. One day she was kidnapped by a group of cultists and given up to their lord, the demon known as Trigon. He took her to the dimension of Azerath and impregnating her, forcing her to give birth to Raven. Once she was born, Raven was trained and groomed to be a servant of her father, just like her many other half-siblings. Her mother had other plans though. Rachel taught her daughter about the world she came from, telling her stories about what life was like there and all the heroes that lived there. She tried to instill a sense of good in her child. Once Raven was old enough, She worked with her mother to get Raven to the Earth, to try and get help in stopping Trigon from taking over reality. Now that she was here, Raven had to familiarize herself with a whole new world and seek out anyone that could help the coming storm.

Question: Not having read a comic with Raven in it in years- has she been changed that radically since the 90's, or is that a "loose adaptation" of the player? Her powers and origin in particular seem different from what I recall. (Please note, I have NO problem with this, I'm just curious.)

Its a loose interpretation of the comics and the cartoon.

I am very interested in joining this RP at some point in the near future. If I were to join in as Agent Phil Coulson, how would we go about introducing him?

Hmm, now that is the question. We've already had one player sign up as Nick Fury, but leave after a grand total of one post.

In the interest of giving him something to do, maybe he could be in his off-time from SHIELD? Like in one of those Marvel One-Shots. Or maybe he could be undercover, someplace important.

Naturally. The guy isn't married to the job, after all. He seems like a fun guy to role play. Any major plots that SHIELD would want to stick its nose in? I can't wait to bounce him off Stark.

Heh. Well, one of the events in-game that SHIELD might want to stick its nose into would be the frequently postponed space launch for Prof. Reed Richards and his crew of four. Apart from that, there's also possibly the crime lords still in power over New York.

Hmm... I've only skimimed the story so far... any chance of a brief recap? I checked the discussion thread, that gives me a bit of an idea. Anywhere in particular we should have Coulson pop up next IG day? My guess is that SHIELD would be worried about these new X-Gene inhibitors and boosters in the NY underground. The last thing SHIELD wants is a full on mutant on anti-mutant conflict.

Just a question: How does SHIELD relate to DC's Checkmate in here?

Originally, SHIELD was an international agency, while Checkmate operated stateside. Curiously, eventually they switched, with SHIELD coming under US control while Checkmate became funded by the United Nations.

I think the latter setup works best for our setting.

Also, is there a Department of Extra Human Activities (DC) here, and do they deal with mutants?

Normandy: In terms of a brief as possible recap, the Joker attempted to turn the city to pit the humans against mutants with the X-Gene boosters, with Man-Bat and the mob bosses getting involved. That plan was mostly scuppered when the power nullifier Leech took the booster and temporarily took away every mutant power. Man-Bat is now dead, and a mob boss called the Big Man is presumed dead. Leech has been taken to Xavier's school for treatment.

Sijo: Well, for starters, I'd prefer Shield to be the international one. Also, I'm wondering how we could fit Checkmate in, seeing as their hierarchy style is currently being used by the Hellfire Club. I can't find anything on the DEHA.

Don't know much about Checkmate but maybe they could be a subset of SHIELD? A Special Forces group?

Perhaps Coulson will start out taking a visit to Xavier's school to figure out just what went on and to make sure the incident won't repeat.

Well, actually the Hellfire Club was based on a real-life 18th-Century "Gentleman's Club" (read: high-class brothel) which explains why they dressed like they did (especially the female members.) Their Chess motif was mostly limited to their having two sets of Black and White Kings and Queens. Checkmate used the motif much more (although I have to admit, I don't see *why* a spy agency needed it...)

The Department of Extranormal Operations (sorry, had the name wrong) is from DC's Chase series. You can read more on them here: [1]

Come to think of it, the DEO would probably have something to do with Marvel's Commission On Superhuman Activities (and therefore with the "lovable" Mr. Henry Gyrich.)
