They kept Polnareff's name in just fine in other English Jojo stuff, don't know why its a problem now.

Jolyne and them innuendos though more than made up for it for me (plus they made her seem MORE tomboyish and rude which... is actually hotter I guess). That and changing the names to their arc names actually makes alot of sense.
Honestly, I never knew that. Plus the never changed it in the Capcom fighter or the manga so I didn't know he was named after an artist or band.

Its the only name change I don't really like as when you look at the English OVA dub, Viz Manga and English Capcom game there wasn't a problem there.
Enrico Pucci is now "Father Pucchi" despite the former appearing in a few shots. Something must have changed.

I always pronounced it with the H though. It sounds a lot like Gucci so.

I always did too, maybe they just needed to add the "H" since Gucci isn't exactly a commonly known word in the US and would be pronounced differently without it. Granted I know nothing on fashion and Pucci is evidently a real name).

There's a significant difference in meaning between Stone Free and Stone Ocean, though. Stone Ocean wouldn't really make sense for her stand name.
