Secondly, if role playing regulars don't start to report arguments and letting drama go unchecked, in short, become more self moderating and participating more in bringing in moderation help when needed, I'll have no problem at all with shutting it down.
Thirdly, I'll underscore that letting drama fester is the fault of the fish. This forum is expected to be more savvy, not less. Stop letting this go on.
From the OTC pinned thread, edited to suite our needs.
I think a local mod familiar with the RP board would be ideal. They would have context and know the people so we don't have to rely on an "outsider" perspective as stated in recently in the appeals thread. I think there are enough people would be willing to volunteer for the position and maybe a thread could be put up to nominate and support people for it, try to find someone neutral but familiar with most people. With that done, no other mod would ever have to look at the RP board again.
Otherwise, I think the best thing that can be done is leave more power to G Ms and let issues resolve themselves. If Players act up and refuse to acknowledge GM authority inspite of being told to leave, then maybe a hollar is merited. If G Ms abuse their power, people can just leave quietly. Trying to control how G Ms run their games just ends in tension and usually sees the game end soon due to unspoken hostility that can't be solved with warnings. Let each game handle itself in a bubble and people will go where they want to be. It's not ideal [especially long runners where the GM has decided to pass the torch] but it's an internally regulating system that avoids hiring a new mod or requiring the mods to give attention.

The problem is, that effectively creates a severed community here. The assumption of "no other mod would ever have to look at the RP board again" would require decentralizing the forums (now whether that's desirable is a meta-topic).
Forum-specific mods have been discussed here, and the general opinion was that, we might as well have a full mod if we need one.
Now using Trivialis handle.Generally, I got the feeling that Mods didn't really want to deal with the RP boards or at least the drama on them. There's no easy fix for tension and issues there, I don't think. Certainly none that don't require us calling in the Mods even more to pre-emptively solve fights before it comes to drama. The options then for dealing with the internal drama then is either getting a Mod willing to handle it or else decentralizing and becoming more self regulating.
I don't think it requires a severed community, just for the RP fora to find a means of self management. Nothing that precludes or isolates them from the rest of the boards, just either their own Mod who frequents there often enough to be familiar or the ability and leash to solve issues without a Mod.

Wow, you guys are totally not getting that we don't wanting to waste moderator time on the RP. Adding a dedicated mod for RP is a waste of a whole person's time.
How are you R Pers going to solve your problem? Your problem is that the drama spills out and wastes the time of people who are not interested in the RP drama. Get it? It is an RP problem. RP is alienating its host.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyIf you pick a volunteer moderator or several from the RPers, then it would be RPers solving the problem, without taking time from moderators not interested in solving the RP problems.

The RP section is a section of the forums. That means it should be moderated like the rest of the forums, regardless of your apparent belief it's a waste of time.
Hm... How about Self Moderation, like in OTC?
Look, dude. I'm of the opinion half the time that the forums are a waste of time. Don't try to make it look like it is our "duty" to look after any part of it that isn't helping the wiki.
You guys want to appoint an RP mod? Go for it. I'll attach a crowner.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThanks for the crowner. Now who to add... (and vote upon...)
Quest 64 threadI'd like to nominate someone. Who do I see about adding that to the list?

Why was Deadbeat removed from the list?
Not eligible or interested in the position.
I would assume she's already a mod, and thus probably wouldn't count?
Already a Mod, and not interested.
Yes. I added Raidou already, though.
Ninja'd.

Quest 64 threadYes, and if I'd thought about it I would have taken myself off it.
Not sure why y'all tried to vote me into a position I sort-of already hold.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Don't know either. I only suggested one guy I believe would be very good at this.
Quest 64 threadWait, I have a question.
Can someone point to when RPG drama spilled onto other forums? Particularly the recent ones. Aside from the "Anno, Moe, And Raineh" incident.
Crown Description:
Selecting an RP person to moderate RP behavior so that RP drama does not spill out into the rest of the forum/wiki.
Off-mission sections - on the forums or the wiki - have always been given a shorter rope. If I, as a mod, had to decide between dealing with a crisis in Trope Repair Shop or one in RP or OTC, I know which I'd prioritize.
