Yu Gi Oh!: East Academy

Caramon grinned as he flipped up a trap card.

"No, I don't think that'll happen. I'll activate my trap card, Draining Shield, turning all your lovely attack points into life points."

A shield of energy popped up between him and Perfect Machine King, absorbing the attack and causing him to glow with energy. (Life Points: 4000 -> 8000)

"That's the ticket, now. Thanks for the pep-up!"

Despite himself, Jacques couldn't help but grin. "Well, seems like the empire hasn't been overthrown just yet... I place a card face-down and end my turn."

Caramon smiled, and drew a card, looking at it before adding it to his hand. "Well, the empire has a rebuttal to make, and it will do so in fine style. First, I think I will activate my Fortissimo, the Mobile Fortress field spell again!"

Once again, the field turned into the fortress, dominated by screens showing the infinity symbol. "As you know, this lets me Special Summon one Meklord Army monster from my hand to the field, and I think I will choose Meklord Army of Skiel!" A sleek blue robot with blades for wings swept out, hovering above the field. (ATK: 1200) "But that's not all folks, because I think I'll be activating Inferno Reckless Summon, which allows me to summon all the copies of a card that has 1500 Attack or less that was just special summoned to the field! And as an added bonus, for each additional Meklord monster on Meklord Army of Skiel 200 extra attack points!" Two more of the robots swung into place, with a grinding noise. (3x ATK: 1600)

"However, I do have to select one monster on your side of the field, and you summon as many copies of it as you can as well. I think I'll choose your Machine King for that."

Jacques simply smiled. "I hope you realise that an army without a leader is as useful as a butterknife in a firefight. But I do appreciate your willingness to bring this whole battle to its swift and inevitable end."

A second Machine King appeared on the field as all three of Jacques' creatures began to glow with power. "I'm sure I don't need to remind you, but due to the effects of my Machine Kings and Perfect Machine King, their attack power grows as more Machine monsters enter the field."

Caramon nodded. "And a kingdom with multiple kings is bound to fall apart. But that's something for later. Right now, I think I'll just end my turn. Your move."

"These are but kings of provinces. Perfection is the only true inheritor of kingdoms. Now, let us end this battle and your imperial advances. Draw!!" Jacques couldn't help but grin. You can never be too safe, they say...

"Now let us end this! Triple King Assault: Iron Fisted Rule of Fate!!" The three robotic figures dashed at their winged opponents.

Flashy nonsense aside, the attack order is Perfect Machine King first then the other two.

Caramon grinned, although it wasn't so much a grin of happiness as much as a grin of anticipation. It all came down to this.

"Not so fast! The empire still stands, but I can't say the same for your kingdom, because I'm activating my trap card Mirror Force! This card's power lets me destroy all of your attacking monsters!"

A barrier sprang up in front of the attacking Machine Kings, cracking with destructive energy.

Jacques' grin quickly faded as his monsters did the same. Well that sucks... "Grrr... I set a card face-down and end my turn."

Caramon smiled, and drew another card.

"You're not winning that easily, now. I think I'll bring out my Meklord Army of Granel!" A smaller and less advanced version of the previously seen Meklord Emperor appeared on the field. "It powers up my Army of Skiel's even further, and has a similar effect, giving it 100 more Attack points for each monster on the field!" (3x ATK: 1600 -> 1800) (ATK: 1600 -> 1900)

"And now they're all going to attack you! Go, Meklord Army!" Army of Granel charged its cannon and fired it, while the Skiel's flew at Jacques, wings glowing.

Granel comes first, followed by the Skiels

"Oh, so the headmaster is your son? That's interesting." commented Mort, as he turned to look towards the duels going on. Heroes VS Heroes, Kings VS Emperors... Both very interesting. Mort had been paying a little bit of attention to them, even as he was talking with others. As he glanced over at the dueling students, something suddenly occurred to him.

"Ah, wait, if you're the Earth Dorm's head, you know the other students, right?"

Jacques' facade of worrying dropped to a satisfied grin. "It's funny you pulled out that Mirror Force last turn..." With a wave of his hand, Jacques' newly played face-down card revealed itself to be Mirror Force.

Caramon scowled as his monsters all broke apart.

"Then I think I'll end my turn by playing the spell card Reboot, which allows me to send one Meklord Monster from my hand to the deck to bring back a Meklord card from my grave. I think I'll shuffle Meklord Astro Dragon Asterisk into my deck, in order to bring back to my hand Meklord Army of Granel. Your move."

"I guess this is going to become a race against time, now isn't it? Draw!!" Jacques simply looked at the card, no real emotion being brought forth. "Your turn."

"Yes," said Sophia. "You, as well as Peter here" — she pointed at him — "are in Earth dorm. There's another student in Earth dorm — one Regulus Gale — but he'll arrive directly at East Academy. Justin, Roxas, Sigmund and Jacques are in Sky. Their head is Steven Sparrow. Art, Isaac, Sarah, and Caramon are in Sea, and their head is the lovely Miss Traynor."
At that moment, her cellphone beeped. She took it from her pocket and held it to her ear. She began to speak very quickly, in Hebrew, while nodding all the time. After a minute or so of conversation, she turned it off.
"It seems that they found the problem with the jet," she said. "They're working on it."

"When you they found the problem," Isaac said, coming up to the teacher, "Does that mean 'We'll have this done in a few minutes' or 'This'll take a while'?"

"Anything between a few minutes and half an hour," Sophia said. "That's what the mechanics told Avrum, anyway."

Caramon pulled his next card, and nodded to himself.

"I think I'll start things off by summoning Black Salvo to the field." A giant, cartoonish bomb appeared on the field, with a rather malicious grin on its face. "Then I'll use its effect to bring back Meklord Army of Wisel to the field. Unfortunately, it has to be in Defense Position, and any effects it has are negated."

"But that won't be a problem, because since Black Salvo is a Tuner Monster, I think I'll use it to give Meklord Army of Wisel a tune-up!" Black Salvo dissolved into 3 rings, while Army of Wisel became 4 stars that flew up into the middle of the rings. "I Synchro Summon Power Tool Dragon!" The draconic machine appeared on the field, tools revving." (ATK: 2300)

"Now, Power Tool Dragon, attack him directly!" The dragon dived at Jacques, tools humming.

As the mechanical dragon leapt forward, Jacques sighed. Despite his best efforts, he lost his first duel. He had come to accept it, but that didn't mean he had to be happy with it.

JACQUES' LP: 0

"Not bad," chuckled Jacques. "But don't think I'll let it end like this. Next chance I get, I'm going to make sure you don't get too cocky about this."

Machine King Prototype Unit Gamma-03 rebooting from Hibernation Mode. Anyone in the immediate area who could see a Duel Spirit saw a rather bare-bones golden robot sitting upright in a levitating throne chair. Its voice was sterilized and mechanical. Booting gammaq%03.crptexe...

"Yeah, yeah, whatever Gam—" Jacques stopped cold, eyes widening to the size of saucers. "Wait, no! Gamma, stop loading that file!!"

Caramon shrugged.

"Hey, that was pretty close at times. Every duel's got some amount of luck involved, and I just got lucky there. Next time you'll probably win though, given that you know more of my tricks than I do yours, and your Machine Kings are pretty good counters against my Army monsters."

He paused when Jacques apparently started talking to himself.

"Umm....who are you talking to?"

Jacques was a bit delayed in remembering that not everyone could see his partner in crime. "Oh, uh... Well, you see, I don't do well in the heat. Yeah, that's it!"

Meanwhile, Gamma's initializing process was nearing completion. File gammaq%03.crptexe booting... 78% complete.

This is bad... Jacques thought, trying to think of a way to get out of this situation without looking like some sort of nutjob.

Sigmund looked at peter "Whelp it looks like I lost. What currency do you want your winnings in because I was referring to GBP or sterling but I can go exchange it for any currency you want. I mean this is an airport they always have currency exchange."

He then looked at Jacques "WHAT exactly is that robot of yours doing and WHY are you so surprised slash worried?" he asked slightly nervously.

Unnecessarily raising a hand to protect his face, Justin's Life Points fell by five hundred as the ball struck. Oh well, there went the chance for a perfect victory, but at least he could end the match in this round!

"My turn, and my monsters are still here!" Justin declared with a small grin, drawing his next card. Adding it to his hand, the duelsist summoned his next monster, Sparkman. As the yellow and blue-armoured figure appeared on the field, Justin continued, "Whereas I have three monsters! And now they're all gonna attack! Go for the first strike, Sparkman!"

Leaping high into the air, Sparkman dove toward Dunker, fists crackling with electricity.

Caramon blinked at the other kid (whose name he did not know) mention something about the cause of Jacques' worry being a robot. Yet obviously it was something that he couldn't see, but they could.....hmmm. Odd.

"Ookaayyyy....."

"...I was hoping you'd summon Avian..." Sarah mumbled, before flipping one of her facedown cards. "In any case, I'll activate D - Counter."

A wave of energy poured out from Dunker, annihilating Sparkman.

"Doesn't matter what kind. It's all the same to me." It wasn't like Peter was planning to actually use the money for anything.

Despite Caramon's victory, Peter was in a bit of a bad mood now, mostly because of Jacques' duel spirit, which, despite Peter's best efforts, he could now see a vague outline of. Some kind of humaniod figure. Probably a robot, based on his deck. Yes… now that he was looking for it, it did look metallic- Gah! Once you saw something, you couldn't unsee, so the spirit was now very clearly present for Peter.
