Future fusion? Well, that could be a pain. Looking at her hand, Sarah sighed. Unfortunately she hadn't drawn her own copy of the spell card. Still, plenty of time for that. Summoning Burstinatrix seemed a little odd, a lot of decks wouldn't have much trouble dealing with her. Then again, Destiny Heroes weren't one of those decks. She drew for her turn.

"Alright, I'll activate a spell of my own, Allure of Darkness! Thanks to this, I get to draw two more cards, but I've gotta ditch a DARK monster when that's done."

Another two cards, huh? Well, it meant sacrificing a monster of his, so that meant one less potential threat, but if Sarah had a monster that could act from the graveyard... then there was the two new drawn cards. What if she drew something powerful? Or something that destroyed his future Fusion before it could activate? Well... nothing much to do but wait and see.

Sarah looked at the two new cards, nothing particularly game changing. "Tch, I'll banish Fear Monger from my hand." The girl paused, glancing at her opponent's side of the field. That Great Tornado would be a huge problem when it came out, so she probably didn't need to worry about a Heavy Storm from Justin, so...

"Now I'll set one card and summon Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious!"

The 'hero' appeared on the field. The man had long orange hair and wore a pair of large, spiked metal shields attached to his arms, his thigh-high boots were of a similar composition. Apart from these, he wore nothing but a pair of brown shorts.

"All right then!" Justin replied, drawing a new card and studying the field. A monster too weak to stand up to Burstanitrix... yet it was in attack mode. Combined with that face down, it was like an invitation... well, if he triggered it now, it would mean not having it triggered when Great Tornado attacked later. Speaking of which, only one standby phase to go...

"I'll place a card face down!" Justin said, a new card appearing next to Future Fusion. "And next... I'll sacrifice Burstinatrix in order to summon my Elemental Hero Necroshade!"

And with that, Burstinatrix was cloaked in flames and disappeared from the field, to be replaced by Necroshade(1600/1800) in attack mode.

"Okay, Necroshade! Attack that Captain Tenacious!" Justin declared, his elemental hero charging at the destiny hero.

Sarah grinned. "You walked right into this, I activate my trap card, D - Shield!"

As Necroshade charged, several chunks of stone appeared around Captain Tenacious. The hero crouched down, raising his arms in a defensive stance.

"With this card, Captain Tenacious gets to switch to defense before your attack hits home." she explained, "Even better, he can't be destroyed by battle while it's on the field."

"Eh? Aw, damn." Justin sighed as Necroshade's attack failed to destroy Tenacious. Returning to it's original position, Justin merely shrugged and said, "Well, that's fine by me! I'll just end my turn!"

And by my next, I'll have Tornado out on the field...

"Okay then, my turn!" Sarah announced, drawing a card. Frowning slightly, she gave her hand a quick once over.

I could activate that, summon that and then use that...but I don't think I need to right now...

"Graaaah!" shouted Jacques, as the attack knocked him about.

JACQUES' LP: 2200

This is bad... he thought to himself, slowly standing back upright. I'll need some sort of miracle at this point...

"Not bad," he sneered aloud. "But I guess it is time to crush your dreams and earn my spot. Draw!!" Jacques sneer grew as he looked at his draw card. About damn time...

"Your emperor has been a thorn in my side a few turns too many. By sending Perfect Machine King to the Graveyard, I activate Lightning Vortex and shred your Meklord to pieces!"

An enormous cyclone of electricity appeared from the air above the duel and shot towards the Meklord Emperor.

Not turn end yet; just waiting to see if it resolves before I use my next trick.

"All right, time to draw." Justin said, grinning as he did so. As soon as he did, Future Fusion's effect finally activated, summoning Great Tornado to the field. A swirling gale formed over one of the monster slots, and before long a figure in green, with turbine-like objects placed on his armour and covered with a small cloak appeared.

"My Great Tornado's effect activates!" Justin declared. "Now the attack and defence of your monster is halved!"

While this effect was applied, Justin wondered what to do with Tenacious. It may be weakened, but it was already weaker than his monsters anyway, and it was still indestructible...
Well, Justin had an idea of what to do, at least. Even if she countered his summoning, he had a way to get rid of it. Battle wasn't the only way to destroy something...

Caramon grimaced as his Meklord Emperor was smashed to pieces by the electricity.

"Nice trick, though was it worth the monster you sacrificed? Though you wouldn't do that without some way to bring it back. And now I know what kind of deck you run, too. So thank you for that."

In truth though, he was a little scared, not that he showed it. Perfect Machine King would get massively stronger if he had any of his monsters on the field, so this was going to be quite tricky.

Jacques laughed. "Well, now you know you should be scared. Empires are traditionally evil while kingdoms are traditionally good. And the good guys always win! So let's start my victory march!

"Since you still have a monster face-down, I can bring a familiar friend to the field for free! Say hello to Cyber Dragon!!"

The enormous mechanical monster coiled out onto the field, letting loose a sharp shreik.

Caramon's grin became less of an "Don't let him know you're worried" grin, and much more of a real one at that point.

"Well, congratulations. You're finally managing to kick yourself into gear." He paused for a moment, before chuckling a little. "Hah. Gears. And we both use Machines. How unintentionally funny." He looked up, serious again. "But let us not dally, shall we?"

Jacques' own grin widened. "You're right; I'll get on with it. Next, I sacrifice my Cyber Dragon to give you a glimpse of true robotic royalty! Hail to the Machine King, you peons!!"

Cyber Dragon gave a parting shriek as it formed into a glowing gold orb. Soon, it grew to allow a huge humanoid robot to march through the orb portal. Its brilliantly shimmering hull seemed to grow as it reached its final standing point on the field.

MACHINE KING: 2300ATK

"And for my next technological marvel..." Jacques was practically singing at this point. "I'll demonstrate the power of robotic will when combined with matyrdom. Robots stand together against their lesser foes! Behold robotic Solidarity!!" As he said this, Jacques slammed the Spell card onto his Duel Disk and Machine King's colours grew brighter as it grew once more.

MACHINE KING: 3100ATK

"Now, Machine King! Demonstrate your royal power! King Buster!!" Machine King rose his arms, as its chest shot forth a brilliant gold beam at the face-down creature.

"That's a pretty impressive monster," Sarah commented, a little worried. Maybe she should've done something before Justin got that out. She shook her head, even if he managed to get past her Captain Tenacious, she had a couple of tricks left. "Anything else?"

"Yeah, actually!" Justin grinned, activating his trap card. "I use my Hero Blast Trap Card! This lets me choose a monster in my graveyard and return it to my hand..."

Not that there wasn't a lot of choice. Justin decided to go with Avian. Once the card had been recovered, he continued, "After that, I can destroy a card of yours with equal or less attack than my chosen monster! And Tenacious fits that quota nicely, don't you think?"

This is great! Justin thought excitedly. When Tenacious is gone, I can summon another monster and deal massive damage in one turn! Then I'd most likely need only one more turn to win!

Caramon grunted as he was hit by the attack, grinning as the card flipped over to reveal Sangan.

"Finally got to use that one. It's Sangan, and because you destroyed it, I get to pick one card from my deck with 1500 attack or less, and add it to my hand, and I know just which one to get." A card slid out of his deck slot, and he added it to his hand. "Ah, excellent. Please, continue."

Well, that backfired. Captain Tenacious was annihilated by the trap card, leaving Sarah with only a facedown card to protect her. Still, a facedown card in the backrow could be an amazing defense, regardless of whether it was the perfect trap for the job or a mystical space typhoon. The Australian grinned.

"So, are you gonna risk an attack? That could be a mirror force, y'know?"

Jacques chuckled. "Well, you've been a blast but I think it is time to end this. I activate my face-down... Call of the Haunted! Which means that Perfect Machine King makes its triumphant return to its kingdom!"

As Jacques spoke a tombstone appeared on the field. The ground shook violently as an even larger robot rose up. Its brilliant red and white body seemed to flex as it smashed its enormous fists together, igniting some sort of electrical current. Its red eyes glowed ominously with power.

PERFECT MACHINE KING: 4000ATK

"Now!!" roared Jacques, his eyes blazing with passion. "Wipe this imperial swine out with your might, Perfect Machine King! Iron Fists of the Perfect Ruler!!"

The monster charged at Caramon, electrically charged hands swinging backfor the punch.

"...Could be." Justin shrugged. "But I'm willing to take that risk!"

Feeling elated by his advantage, Justin ordered Necroshade, then Great tornado to attack, for a combined total of 4400 damage. If all went well, he'd only need one more round to end this match... that would be horribly swift...

Sarah frowned as her bluff was called, she her arms to protect herself from the holograms' attacks. Obviously, this was more as a reflexive response to the monsters charging at her than out of any expectation of actual pain. The girl sighed.

"Of course I can turn this around!" Sarah called to her opponent, grinning, "By the end of my next turn, you won't have any monsters on the field!"

With that overconfident threat/attempt to reassure herself that she hadn't screwed up big time out of the way, she drew her next card. Well, even if I lose, it won't be a flawless win for him...and I'll save that card for one more turn, just in case.

"I'll summon a monster, Destiny Hero - Dunker!" she announced, slamming the card onto her duel disk. A large, muscular man with dark skin and black dreadlocks appeared on the field. His face appeared to be strangely green and his eyes glowed red. Noticably, he appeared to have rocket boosters attached to his wrists.

1200/1700

"And now I'll activate Dunker's effect! By discarding a Destiny Hero, I can have him deal 500 points of direct damage! Go, three point shot!" she exclaimed, placing Destiny Hero - Dasher in her graveyard. A glowing white sphere of energy appeared in Dunker's hand, after dribbling it a couple of times, the masked hero hurled the ball over Justin's monsters, striking the boy.

"Now I'll set one card and end my turn." she declared, before turning to Roxas and scratching the back of her head. "I thought I had a good setup, I won't mess up like that again."

Please let this work...
