That is why back then I had Wellwisher and had to think properly about using the land with Elvish Guidance (when I don't have Wellwishers in play yet), because of mana burn. Then I stopped playing after the Kamigawa block. I only returned last December. LOL
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.I miss Manaburn.
Without it some cards are usless.
I had no idea such a thing as Mana burn existed back when I played in Ravnica, children having no idea of the rules and all.
I think even with Mana Burn, those green devotion decks I faced at game day wouldn't have cared taking 5+ damage from it every turn because of Nykthos. In one game my opponent went up to 200+ life while I had an empty board, no cards in hand an was only drawing lands. There was absolutely no hope of me winning but we kept going until time-out, and that's why I love this game.
200 life? Well...(Vintage/Legacy):
- Turn 1: 1 Forest, play Rhys the Redeemed.
- Turn 2: 1 Forest and 1 Plains, play Priest of Titania.
- Turn 3: 2 Forest and 1 Gaea's Cradle, play Wellwisher (through the Forests) and Elvish Archdruid (through Gaea's Cradle). Activate Rhys' first ability.
- Turn 4: 2 Forest, 2 Plains, and Gaea's Cradle; 5 creatures in total. Play Doubling Season using Gaea's Cradle. Tap Priest of Titania for mana plus Plains for Boon Reflection.
- Turn 5: 3 Forest, 2 Plains, Gaea's Cradle; 5 creatures plus two enchantments in play. Cast Healer of the Pride through the basic lands. Play Hunting Triad using Priest of Titania (6 1/1 Elf Warrior tokens created; gain 12 life). Play Elvish Promenade through Archdruid (22 1/1 Elf Warrior tokens created; gain 44 life). Activate Rhys' second ability (58 1/1 Elf Warrior tokens created; gain 116 life). Tap Wellwisher (91 Elf creatures; gain 182 life).
By Turn 6 you can skip the sorceries and just activate Rhys' second ability again, which would create 174 1/1 Elf tokens and you gain 696 life (due to Healer of the Pride). Tap Wellwisher and that's an additional 530 life gained (265 Elf creatures).

I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Yeah, those formats are worlds apart from Standard.
We actually had people cross-play in a Legacy tournament on Sunday where they could win promo Thunderbreak Regents. As compensation the Standard players got a promo Deathbringer Regent for participation and additional Scaleguard Sentinels in the prizes.
Without mana burn, braids of fire is all upsides now.
Mana Drain, boys. Best card.
Though at least it only applies to your upkeep.
Which works just fine if you've got plenty of instants to work with that use Red.
Beware the Scryfish, for it has foreseen your DOOM!

The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever.I don't know if I've brought this idea up before, but would it be viable to create a 'character' page for certain key, important, real-life people who work behind the scenes or are very closely linked to Magic like Richard Garfield and Maro, sort of like what Pixar has for the Pixar Regulars page?
Personally, I say no. I don't like the idea of non-fictional characters pages on tvtropes, and I don't think that, if done, the pages would actually be a good read.
That said, if everyone else disagrees, I'd be happy to help none the less.
Creator pages have definitely lead me on to works that I would not be aware of otherwise.
Praise the magnificence of the deli meat section!
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever.Value: Winning a Dragons pack in a draft that contained both a Planeswalker Narset and a foil Den Protector.
It was pretty much agreed at that point that I won the draft in spite of going 2-1 instead of 3-0.
Getting passed a Collected Company during the actual draft portion of the draft that I was able to both draft and use in my deck felt pretty much like icing on the cake at that point.

Well, I just came back from a Modern Masters sealed tournament.
I pulled Emrakul, Elesh Norn and two copies of Daybreak Coronet, so all in all a pretty good day.
Especially since I actually managed to play Emrakul at one point.
I am now in the process of opening the Modern Masters 2015 packs I picked up on my way home from work. I was going to buy a box, but the store I went to (which isn't the store where I usually play, btw) had set a maximum of twelve packs per person per day, so I just got twelve packs. But it's probably for the best to not spend that much money on Magic cards anyway.
So, here's the rares and foils I pulled from my packs:
- Rares:
- Foils:
You won the day.
The aftermath of a strike just screwed me out of getting to a MM 2 draft, so I'm thinking of getting some packs and play sealed with my brother. He's away for the weekend so I'll see how the price for packs develops in my area.
If I'm lucky there might even be another draft sometime, but I doubt it.
This might be a problem. Keep watch.
Well, if you played monoblack and ran cabal coffers, mana burn issues can come up rather frequently.
