Think I'll create pages for these bands, since Enslaved are a favorite of mine (not to mention very influential, being the second most historically important Viking Metal band after Bathory) and Dimmu Borgir are both very popular with some parts of the Metal community and VERY hated by other parts of it. Since Enslaved are influential and Dimmu Borgir are... rather divisive, i feel they merit their own pages...

That's my two cents on the matter- any thoughts?

Now, of course, I will be accused of sucking by die-hard Black Metal fans. Bring it on... ;)

I say go for it. Don't listen to 'em much myself, but I think they definitely warrant pages of their own. Though since they draw such divided opinions in the metal world, anyone editing those pages should try their best to keep it neutral...

Somehow you know that the time is right.

People are divided on Enslaved? I didn't know that, I kinda thought that you were either a fan of 'em or ya hadn't heard of 'em at all/only in passing/don't really care. Wasn't aware they had haters... :P

But yeah, in the next day or so I'll get to it, I have stuff on my plate right now...

Works Pages Are Free, right? Why do you need to ask?

Well, don't know about Enslaved, was mainly referring to DB...now that I think on it Enslaved seem pretty well-regarded...

EDIT: Think I was getting Enslaved confused with Satyricon, since the latter was pretty influential back in the day and now no one seems to like their new stuff.

Indeed. Though some of the Trve Kvlt types might complain about Enslaved's new(ish) albums (ie anything from Monumension on, when they progged out and started writing in English) as not Black Metal enough... :P But I dunno, I like all Enslaved's stuff, and I actually like the newer stuff slightly better...

And, t'be honest, I've only heard Satyricon's stuff up to Nemesis Divina (great album, that!)... But I've heard mixed reviews... :P

Is there a rule about launching pages for works with a Periphery Hatedom?

Probly not, since Twilight and Justin Bieber have pages- not to mention the fact that SO MANY things have Periphery Hatedoms... Seriously, it's pretty subjective. tongue On a more metal-related note, Cradle Of Filth have a page, and they may have a bigger Periphery Hatedom than both of these bands combined...

Oh, and when I said today or tomorrow, I wasn't necessarily being completely truthful- after all, I also said I'd get to the Kanon and Air character pages "soon", when I didn't actually create the Kanon one for a month or so after I said I would, and I never got to Air (someone else beat me to the punch on that...). Not relevant at all except to say it might be a while... [lol]

I don't think black metal fans hating a black metal band — even if it's because the band isn't tr00 enough — really counts as a "periphery" hatedom.

I guess it is.

I think that you should be cleared to start those pages. I don't think it really matters if a work has a Periphery Hatedom before you start a page on it. Hell, most of (if not all) the works on the Periphery Hatedom page itself has a page.

[up][up] Now that ya mention it, ya do have a point- it's something else if the main fanbase for a given genre hates something within it.

[up] Just about everything has a certain amount of Periphery Hatedom (and Fandom as well)... tongue

Touche. Dimmu Borgir has a Hatedom then.

Indeed they do. I personally like 'em (Enthrone Darkness Triumphant was great, and most of the rest of their albums ae good, except maybe In Sorte Diaboli- and even it's not BAD, just kinda okay...), but I can sorta see why the Tr00 crowd wouldn't so much... tongue
