PROJECT COMPLETE
Therefore, I am creating this thread to clean up hottip markup in the wiki, and do one of the following:
- Remove the hottip and weave the explanation into the description.
- Replace the hottip with either the note or labelnote markup, as appropriate.
Syntax for a note markup is (for those who are unaware):
[[note]]-text to be revealed-[[/note]], which yields: note
Syntax for a labelnote is: [[labelnote:-text to be displayed-]]-text to be revealed-[[/labelnote]], which yields:
-text to be displayed-

I'm going to be a bit more preoccupied in real life going forward than I have been, but I still think I can have Main/ done by the end of August.
Beyond the beaten path lies the absolute end. It matters not who you are... Death awaits you. — NyxI noticed that a couple of pages I've cleaned recently don't have entries on The List. This must mean that either the script isn't catching all instances of hottip markup, or tropers are still using it.
Either way, probably not a good sign.
I've been bouncing back and forth on whatever page strikes my fancy to work on, but I'm focusing on the namespaced pages. Once those are wrapped, I'll put more emphasis into the Main links.
I'm sure that tropers are still adding hottips on pages. Once this current batch is done, Eddie will need to run a new search...hopefully the parameters can be tweaked so that the false positives can be excluded and pages that were missed can be picked up.

I did a bit of double-checking of my editing work - when I was editing yesterday, I was on the point of falling asleep, and I had to comment (upon request) on a troper's page as well.
Thus, I've sent Hottip Cleanup July 2013 Tropers onto the cutlist.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanPosting the overall sandbox link so it's on this page: Hottip Cleanup July 2013 Update
I wonder why the Pantheon and Trivia pages haven't been cut yet...

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHottip Cleanup July 2013 Memes is three pages short of completion.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'll knock those out in a sec.

Working on the Foreign Language page...someone that speaks Spanish needs to cruise over to Es.Mutacion Memetica and edit the line about hottips in the description to make it work for Notes and Labelnotes or cut it entirely.
Also, there are a bunch of pages on that page that I've come across whose pics are over the 350 px size limit...work for a different effort, but it bears mentioning.
EDIT: There's a note about hottips on this page as well: It.Gara Di Bevute Di Tv Tropes

I took care of the Italian wick. FTR, if my current location isn't a clue, I am a native Italian and German reader.
I also did an approximate translation of the Spanish one, although I don't know Spanish.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCool. I've got that list whittled down to the R and S pages, gotta step away for a while.

ItAdministrivia.Regole Per La Formattazione Del Testo has a section on hottips that needs to be completely reformatted.
Modificazione eseguita.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMagnifico. I'll cutlist the page.
EDIT: I've moved the cutlisted pages to a separate folder so the list isn't so cluttered...makes our accomplishment so far stand out more, too.

Going to have to interrupt the participation in this cleanup as a) the internet just shut down here and the backup I have is too slow for a multipage cleanup and b) I have to study for a math exam.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCleaned up the Game of Thrones character pages (which made liberal use of hottips to provide background info from the books) by replacing them with labelnotes.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Don't sweat it, math test >>> the wiki.
Cool, thanks.
Decided to take a flying leap at the Video Game / Visual Novel namespaced pages, since there's a rather long list of those. Managed to get A through B, and will try to get further down the list tomorrow.

I've been changing hottips to labelnotes on the Hold Your Hippogriffs page, but for some reason, several labelnotes refuse to close. Any advice?
EDIT: Thanks for the advice, I've fixed them now.

Where's the [[/labelnote]]?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's where it should be. All the notes that won't close look like the others.
I already did the remaining pages. However, on the Muramasan page you may try to revert it wholesale - I can't get it to work, at all, and after doing a revert on my own there I question if the original markup would have worked, either.
