Code Geass: BotR III: First We Take Pendragon

"Explosion. At White Pillar Hotel. It's not far from here, but we need to gather everything we can from the scene."

As Reginald 'ushered' Gram to follow him, he remembered the reason he had wanted to go to the mall.

Kinda hard not to forget with so much moisture around your feet. Okay, get some shoes and give Gram a talking to.

"Tell me Gram" Reginald spoke as they made their way to the interior of the large shopping mall. "How long have you been in this gang? A coupla months, I believe, three tops."

Reginald then glared at him again as he said "So tell me... when have any of MY decisions been bad ones?"

Aiden took out his camera and took a couple of pictures of the destruction before running off to find a computer so he can type this up and send it to some newspapers with the hopes of being hired.

"If you say so," Walter said, shrugging his shoulders. Then he set the panda back down on the stand, and sat down on the ground. He reached for his right boot, and pulled it off. Reaching in, he took out a roll of paper, pulled one out, and then put the rest back in his boot. Standing back up, he put the piece of paper - a fifty pound note - on the stand, and spoke to the person behind it. "Pardon, sir, I'd like to buy this here Pandarat."

Gram looked up weighing whether or not to talk before grunting.

Meanwhile at White Pillar...

Aiden managed to get a few shots, before a couple blacksuited men, moved him to the side.

"We're going to ask you to head to the lobby and stay there."

They did this to a few others.

Meanwhile...

"OK," The owner said in slightly awkward English, shuffling through the register, to produce 37.32 in change. "Thank you for shopping. You want a receipt?"

"Still..." Elain trailed off. It was super cute, though, accurate or not... And she actually had thought they were native to Area Eleven...

Shrugging, she put the shotglass down, grabbed a shirt ("I've had Eleven bad vacations, but Osaka ain't one!"), and paid the stall owner.

Reginald scowled in response.

He then let out a tired sigh. Dammit he had used up all his anger on accusing Finds.

"...Since you're new and all... I wont hurt you... but you're getting half pay for the next two months. That other half is going to finds as an apology".

He then turned his attention back to the various shops of the mall. Now then... where is the nearest clothes store so he can buy some new shoes and socks.

He stomped his way through the mall, his feet squeaking from the moisture, no doubt attracting the attention of passers by.

This day had better not get any worse!

"I take it the bomber got away, then?" Naoise's mood was beginning to sour. "Do we still have the other guy in custody, at least?"

Inside the Mall:

Gram was silent. He was clearly less than happy but held his tongue and followed along until they arrived at a shoe store.

Meanwhile, Outside the Mall:

"Alright, so I think there's something happening in the Eastwing on the second floor," Mr. Wentworth said. Just a moment after he finished, Griffin's phone went off.

Meanwhile, In a car, not far from the White Pillar:

"We have the suspect apprehended before. As for the hotel bomber, we don't know. The blast was small, so guests are being asked to get to the lobby until we can confirm their identities and in necessary cases perform a search. It's still early; we don't know the motive or the means. It's likely an Elevens group but we can't rule out gang warfare or lone lunatic, but the bomb could have been set weeks ago and triggered from across town and we're not about to sweep Osaka for every eleven with a grudge. On the other hand, the explosion was small and I suspect it was a close range device. Triggered somewhere within the block."

"Thanks," Walter said, taking the money in his left hand and the Panda in his right. He quickly put the change in his pocket and pulled out his phone, "'Scuse me, I ought to take this," he said, then pressed the answer button on the phone and spoke into it. "Howdy, this is Walt, who's this?"

"Walter? It's me, James," Walter wasn't used to hearing this sort of tone from his assistant who usually seemed quite in control, he sounded distinctly nervous. Still before Walter could rely he spoke again, "I'm afraid there might have been an attempt on your life."

"Well, I don'know who told you that," Walter replied, "I've been just fine here, so no worries. Say, d'ya know if there are any live Pandas around these parts? I think that'd be a mighty interesting sight."

After a couple more minutes of irritating squeaky feet Reginald finally found a shoe shop.

He made a small gesture for Gram to wait outside whilst he bought a new pair as well as some new socks.

He walked up to the nearest shelf which had shoes his size and found a reasonable pair of formal shoes to wear, as well as a pair of socks.

He quickly brought them to the cashier and asked in a rushed tone of voice "How much?"

Come on hurry up so he can get out of these wet shoes, Dammit!

-In front of the mall-

"Do you think I'd tell you there had been an attempt on your life if you had been around for it? The Police just phoned your office. There's been an explosion in your hotel room. Either something triggered it without you, maybe some unlucky cleaning lady, the bomb was faulty. Either way, you're lucky to be alive right now."

-In Payless Shoes-

"65 pounds. Cash or charge?"

As he spoke, Reginald's phone started ringing.

"Oh, a bomb, eh?" Walter said. "Figer'd it'd have been a ninja or something, considerin' where we are and all. So... what am I supposed to do now?"

"Don't know. Odds are they think you are dead. Just keep a low profile and don't let anyone know who you are. We're looking for someone in the area that we can trust and until then, it's better to let them think they won."

-Meanwhile off the coast of Osaka-

A grizzled looking man approaching middle age, who looked to be a veteran, looked away from the Frame he was performing maintenace on and down at Aqila.

"Brits must really have over extended themselves if they're desperate enough to pull in Mercenaries in satellite nations like Japan. I'd have liked somewhere a little more credible, but then, it looks like they're having trouble enough here."

He points to smoke rising over the city.

"Probably not going to get invovled in this yet, but let's just hope the only action we see isn't from a distance."

"I see..." The green-haired man on the passenger side cupped his chin as he contemplated the implications for their investigation. "I appreciate the clarity. You seem very experienced, like you've been at this job for quite a while, or am I wrong?"

Reginald quickly slapped down a 50, a 10 and a 5 pound note from his wallet and fished his phone from out his back pocket.

A small beep indicated the press of a button and he held it his ear as he grabbed the bag with his new shoes and socks.

"Yeah?" he asked as he sat down at one of the chairs in the store and took his old shoes off ready to replace them.

"Bomb?!" Elaine exclaimed, her ears perked up. "Did something happen?"

Her mind flashed to the recent terrorism. Did another government building get blown up?

"Oh," Walter said to Elaine, "Something happened back at the hotel with some cuckoo Mother Hubbard blowin' something up, and my assistant just took it on himself to make sure I wasn't all up in pieces."

"Heh. Always quick to the gun." Aqua paused and checked the clip of her gun before sticking it back in. She cocked is quickly to push the bullet into the chamber.

"I'll be up in the command center if you need me, you just make sure that thing is ready to go if we need it." She walked away.

-Limo-

"A few years. I can't take too much credit however, I've been working with my team from the start. If you ever get properly transfered to us, you'll find a good team will get you quite far. Speaking of, we're here."

He got out of the car and looked to a similarly dressed red haired man,

"News?"

"Nada. You'd be the first to know"

"O'Connor, this is Timothy Moore."

The ginger tipped his head and smiled.

"There's a couple more people on the team but for the most part we want to be combing through the building. Can I trust you on your own or would you rather stay around for a while and see how it's done before trying yourself?"

-Payless Shoes-

"Remember how Gram was paranoid about the Slugs?"

-Outside the Mall-

"...Am I on speaker phone?"

"Worrying," Mr. Wentworth said with a sigh.

As his own phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Well and you?"

"I'm on vacation."

"Fine, but only since I was just on the topic."

"I ran into him a minute ago. I'll do what I can but I'd better get over time."

"At Osaka Mall. He's getting a call now from your boss."

"Alright."

"Fine."

"Goodbye."

-Pacific Ocean, Off Osaka-

"Your father isn't giving you this boat to collect a pension with. He's expecting us to get a reputation. No point in sending you off to play soldier girl for a few years if all we go is act like reservists. Neither is Britannia going to keep paying us if that's the case..."

As Aqua entered the command center, the Captain and a few others running various other parts gave a salute.

"Not far from Osaka now ma'am.

"...Yeeeeaaaahhh?" Reginald said slowly as he paused after having taken both his socks off and was ready to put on the new pair.

"A ease men, you don't have to salute me when it's just us." She looks down at the table which shows the display of the area.

"Make sure the ships guns are ready and keep going at this pace, men. I don't want us getting caught off guard. I want everyone in position. We're entering an active war zone here and Britannia doesn't call in mercenaries for nothing." Aqua says as she sits down.

-Payless Shoes-

"Our room got blown sky high. Turns out the asshole next to us was some important business guy. If they're still there, they're being transported to an evidence locker but from the little I've see, I don't think there'd be much left."

-Off of Osaka-

"Though it's not really a war zone, we're still a few hours from it. We'll stay on our toes, but don't get too tense."
