Yeah, it's worth that much.

Not worth much more though, both in content and in the controversy surrounding its birth into the world.

Edit: Oh, and my friend's in it. So, that's cool.

It's a fine game if you don't go into it expecting GTA in the 1940's, which it most definitely is not.

Best way to describe it would be a mix between Heavy Rain sans QTE and Grand Theft Auto sans a reason for exploration other than randomly scattered collectibles. That, and you're a cop, so trying to act a sociopath is out of the question. Though I will admit, Team Bondi did a fantastic job recreating late 1940's LA: I know several people who said they could actually recognize exactly where I was in the city just by looking at the structures and design of the area!

Yeah, it's an old school adventure game with the appearance of GTA's open world structure.

(i.e. it adopts the former's syntax, but the semantics of the latter.)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the original poster was going out on a limb when he made this thread.

It's not well optimised to the PC. It lags even on the cheapest settings, and I'm employing a beast fashioned from the finest child labour and a couple of hours of my own personal spare time to power the thing.

well, does it require a good framerate to play?

cause im fine with most games and a little lag, but games like deus ex human rev and a little lag is a little too much

Thanks for the recommendations. It's mine now, I might look up some stuff like mods to improve optimisation but it should be ok, Can You Run It says my laptop is well past the recommended specs.

Now to downlo-

13GB

[up]Damn, that's a whole lot bigger than I thought the game would need. Guess all that facial mo-cap stuff actually did cost something fierce in the memory department!

[up] I believe you mean the HDD space department.

But yeah, I'll have to browse the list to find something interesting.

LA Noire is a HD console game ported to the PC so I expect it would be rather large.

SPESS MEHRINES! THE EMPRA HAS LOWERED THE PRICE OF SPESS MEHRINE!

It's about $8 and the DLC is something like $2.50 to a quarter.

I added 23 games to my list, and that's just from the Strategy, RPG, and Simulation sections.

Also gonna recommend LA Noire. As someone in law enforcement, and someone from an LAPD family no less, the game is great.

The facial expressions and mocap is really first rate, and the cases themselves are quite challenging and realistic. I enjoyed the forensics and crime scene parts of the game a lot, although unfortunately people weren't too hot on the whole "Don't contaminate the scene with fingerprints" thing, which bugs me a bit.

That's cool, I love The Wire so a more realistic approach to police procedurals is something I'm always up for.

Thankfully Steam seems to be fast today so I should be able to download all of it during my offpeak.

Steam sales typically feature discounts anywhere from 50%-75% off. The only things that go for less than 50% off are newly released or AAA titles.

[up][up][up] was forensic analysis around in the 40s or 50s?

well DNA profiling, which was the specific form of analysis i meant turns out to be from the 80s

but im assuming that even before then there were reasons to not let people just touch anything in a crime scene so as to not contaminate other stuff

La Noire's more of a pastiche, really. More Agatha Christie and Nero Wolfe than what I think of when I think of The Wire.

Eh. Depends, will you get it for the single player or the multiplayer? The single player is as short as hell and is better off renting. But multiplayer is worth the price if you like co-op. It is a great game imho but YMMV.

Figures, since all the DLC is for multiplayer. I'll skip this one then, I'm more interested in a good single-player game.

I'll save my cash for the summer sale.cool
