On one hand I'm actually glad The Hero isn't a boring invincible one, I lost interest in Yugioh because of that. I love rooting for the underdog and Aichi is that in spades. On the other hand it's kind of frustrating watching him loose nearly all the time.

Maybe they should combine the two to make the world smoother in Aichi's favor.

I don't mind him loosing to the real tough opponents like Tetsu, Ren, Mitsusada in a first meeting, then beating them later in a rematch. For example Aichi (a newcomer) loosing to Gouki (a regional champion) is believable, plus nothing big was at stake, and he later beat him in that rematch in the regionals.

I hate when Aichi loses because of luck, because then he has to lose.

Double Post FTW! (Yea, sorry about this.)

So new episode is out!

They all loss. I knew that Kamui and Misaki would lose, but I didn't want Aichi to lose. It nice to see that Ren had not progress back down his path of evil. He is more acting like the first time he used Psyqualia.

You know I wonder much of Ren's "evil personality" was really the result of Psyqualia? He has to have come from a wealthy background to have the FFHQ built... What I mean can better be explained by another difference between anime and manga-at least I think this is a difference as I don't remember this being mentioned in the anime at any point. In the manga his father was abusive who demanded Ren be the 'perfect winner' he taught Ren there are two types of people in the world-the losers who are laughed at and those who laugh at them.

It would explain why he went on that power trip in Kai's flashback and had the HQ built... I mean if I understood it right Psyqualia brings out what is already there. IIRC all Aichi wanted to do was prove his worth to Kai who was his role model, he was also in a way striking back-for years he had been the school butt monkey, now he was the one with the power.

Yeah, pretty much. The manga really did go for a darker plot line then the anime. I like it since it explains WHY Ren went on a power trip so quickly in contrast to Aichi who was merely compensating for a low self-esteem.

Aichi wanted everyone to feel how he felt when he was bullied. He is fulled with resentment.

Between an inferiority complex and being a bully victim Aichi had the motivation to act like a jerk. What did Ren have again? In the anime Ren was basically a cheerful little kid right? He obtains psyqualia and immediately proceeds to act like a jerk and going on a power trip-what was his motivation to go the lengths he did? (I may need to re-watch those episodes that focused on Kai's and Ren's past)

I spent the last few days trying to figure out what to say and it doesn't really say anything good about Ren. At least If you follow the PSY Qualia only brings out what is already there theory-Ren wanted to be that way. Of course I could have forgotten something somewhere and maybe it is just a power up with Drunk on the Darkside side effect.

Either way Aichi was at least shown in a sympathetic (albeit creepy) way when he was on his power high. Ren was just displayed as being power hungry for the sake of being power hungry without any explanation as to why and that is what annoys me. He goes from a cheerful child to a Smug Super who's building himself an HQ to train own card fighter army. Where was the motive for that? (Also where did he get the money?)

Wait... maybe that's the difference? Aichi had a single specific focus: becoming stronger so to fight Kai. Ren's focus was broader: playing Vanguard and IIRC he, Tetsu, and Kai planned to enter the Vanguard Tournament together and of course win it. PSY Qualia amplified that desire to the point where nothing but playing the game and winning mattered.

I guess it was deeper in the manga. Ren wanted to make people suffer like he did in the manga. While in the Anime verse he was just goal orientated.

I'm not yet sure if PSY Qualia has any side effects except making the user tired in the manga. Since Ren has a more Freudian Excuse reason for his behavior then simply being drunk on power. Also from the wiki: Tetsu says Foo Fighters were looking to recruit PSY Qualia users into Foo Fighters (implying they're others).

Based on what little Japanese I know, the images, and comments I've seen people make here and there I think Kyou found out Aichi has PSY Qualia and Tetsu confirms it. I think they were trying to recruit Aichi into FF. Then Ren finds out Aichi beat Kai in the first chapter-which is treated as a legitimate win in the manga-and gets pissed since he apparently is Only One Allowed To Defeat You towards Kai.

Why is that one counted?

What was confirmed? I haven't watched the second season yet-I've read the episode summaries though. OH! If your referring to other PSY users-this is the manga. So in the manga there are also others with PSY. Given how different the plots are this could go down a completely different way then the anime. Especially if it means FF has multiple PSY users.

According to Kamui in the third chapter "a wins a win". Also Kai is kind of nicer in the manga, hanging out with the rest at the card shop, and isn't as aloof or or serious-unless Ren or PSY is involved. He unintentionally sends Aichi into a BSOD when he learns the kid has PSY Qualia.

That sounds like Kai. I won't ruin the anime for you, but even though there is not a lot of Psyquila user. Only three were shown in the first season and we are still racking u on this one.

It is more than likely that she has a Psyquila of a different type than Ren and Aichi. It would be weird for them to know so much, but never experience it.

Ah.

Also other differences in the manga that have made the PSY Q seem different or at least prevented from going down the same path as the anime. Aichi isn't obsessed with fighting Kai-cause his win counted apparently, even Kai in Chapter 2 seem to think so-so he's got nothing to go power hungry about. He just wants to hang with his friends and have fun.

The Foo Fighters exist in contrast to this-with their fighting gloves that shock you every time you take a hit to make the game more challenging.
